SarcasticInstallation required creating an account and verifying authentication which was impossible.

When I called their customer service I was on hold for 5 minutes before being transferred to another number where I was on hold for over 30 minutes.

The customer service representatives performed in an exemplary manner, the management dropped the ball requiring a call to customer service.

Not a local company dishonest. Will try to rip you off.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Beware this company is grabbing anyone looking for repairs through the web, its actually a nationwide call center who send out techs. they are very dishonest trying to over charge the customer.

no paperwork, no business card. they are SALESMEN. Please do your homework before calling for tech to come out. make sure they have an actual local office.

I did web search for Jimmys Garage Doors a great company that i am familiar with and somehow landed on their website unbenonced to me, i even wrote the check out to Jimmys Garage Doors but its not. DO NOT USE Garage Door Services.

This outfit is indeed a nation wide scam. Using various names in hundreds of cities.

As seen on NBC dateline. NBC Today Show. ABC 20/20.

Like previous writer said, a local company with a brick and mortar store is a much safer call.

Ask your mom, she usually knows! :)

Garage Door Services - Labor Compensation Review from Everett, Washington

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

A friend of mine just trained with technicians from this company for two weeks. He responded to a craigslist ad saying training would be compensated and training would last three weeks.

This was for the Everett WA area. He was supposed to train with a certified tech but that guy had something personal come up after two days of training and would not be back to train for ten days. He then was set up with other techs from company who were not certified for training. He trained with three different techs over a two week period.

They all told him different things about the requirements of the job and said the company would assist with certain aspects of getting on board. It is an independent contractor job which consist of having a truck, insurance, business and license/bonded. The craigslist ad doesn't mention all of this and they communicate it during training. He was two weeks into training and told they had to part ways because he didn't have his business bonded yet but he was still in training period.

They never said it had to be done during training. My friend understood it would have to be done before he was going to a job on his own. He worked 12 to 14 hour days for 2 weeks with no compensation! The company sells the parts to the techs and they mark up prices extremely high.

A simple bearing cost the tech $1 and the tech is supposed to sell it for $79 for example. The techs trained my friend to not care about the customers and to squeeze as much as possible for the work. He went on a couple of identical jobs (parts & labor) and they charged one customer $150 and one $1500. They try to get as much as they can from someone.

He was trained to show the customer dirty and rusty parts that are still functional and convince them they have to be fixed when they don't. Techs get 18 to 30% on each job and asked to average $350 per job. Check out other reviews for this place. I have read about others being scammed by them.

Do your homework and research to ensure you are getting a fair deal. I don't know how the techs determine the charge without preying on customers.

Beware of employment and being a consumer! Protect yourself.

Scammed for over a grand, door doesn't work

Searched for Overhead Door Company online and a similar name came up for my area with the city name in the URL. I called the company and it turns out I was actually dealing with Garage Door Services.

The tech looked at the door and using a lot of scary sounding comments about this, that and the other being wrong he said he could fix the door but it would cost several hundred dollars. I asked about a new door and he made it sound like it would cost a couple of thousand. I figured out later what he really wanted was for me to agree to the work right away instead of getting estimates for door replacements. I agreed to let him do the work as he assured me he could make it look and function like it should.

30 minutes later he called me out to look at the door. It was now in worse shape and he told me he'd discovered other problems, etc. and the repair was going to cost almost double. Since the door was no longer usable I let him go ahead.

I paid him when he was done but immediately called the real Overhead Door company to come and examine it. They told me that his repairs were inadequate, the door was unbalanced and skewed and that his repair would eventually fail. They offered to repair the door with new panels and parts for a fraction of what he charged. Turns out it's their door and Garage Door Services cannot get the parts or replace the door because they would have to order it from The Overhead Door company and they don't like to do it.

I called GDS back and the offered me a small refund if I would sign a contract saying that I was pleased with their service and would NOT file a complaint with the BBB, etc. They told me the refund would come by check and would take 6 weeks. I asked for a manager and got the runaround. Finally I told them I just could not do that and we ended the call.

30 seconds later their real manager called me back and tried to pressure me into a small refund and signing an agreement that I would not file a BBB complaint. I told him I had to see the agreement first and they promised to email it to me immediately. The agreement never came. Repeated attempts to get in touch with him again failed and he never returned my messages.

Run away from this company!!

Complete "Service Call" Scam

I called GDS to come look at my garage door unit because it was not functioning. The coupon said that there would be a $49 fee that would be waived if service was rendered. I called the number to schedule the service. Customer service asked for my name and address, but no further information.

The technician arrived (no call before hand, though customer service said they would). The technician walked into the garage, looked up and said, oh, this is going to be a problem. This is an iDrive and we don't service this. It is going to cost you $1,200 to replace your system. I said that I would like to have another estimate if they do not service what I have. The technician called his manager who said to me, "what can I do to have you do something today?" I told him that I had not intended to buy a new system, just repair what I have. They charged me the service fee because I did not get further service. I told them that they did not even troubleshoot or try to fix my existing garage door and basically I was told too bad.

Lesson learned - these guys are crooks! Rather than fix something, they want to charge you for a whole new system Buyer beware!

The IDrive is a disposable unit. Cost more to fix then it was ever worth.

Tell us, did anyone ever fix it or did you end up buying a new unit from a reputable dealer for $500.00?

Sightly SCAM / RIP OFF

Complete WASTE of money. The video looked like someone took some cheese and wiped it across the screen.

A first grader could have done a better job AND they put mine in the WRONG CATEGORY. Their answer to that was, they would not bill me for the video. So now I have ALL the money in the Google PPC where they guarantee you the top 3 positions. I had ONE Click for an entire MONTH.

What a JOKE. And my only click was in town about 500 miles out of our service area. I was suppose to be in a 20 mile radius. They called to say they were billing my credit card again and I told them that there should be money in the account and it has not been used.

They told me to either cancel my account or I will be billed again.

LIARS and THIEVES. Don't waste your money!!

Don't trust Garage Door Services Co and their warranty

Garage Door Service Co. tells you about their warranty as if it were legitimate.

When their product failed I called to ask them to come fix the garage door and they said it was past there 30 day warranty and you would have to pay $100 for them to come and fix it. It was approximately 35 days after the install. I have had it for only 3 months and 2 different times and 2 different problems have occured. I talked to management and they said either pay the $100 or call the manufacturer of the garage door.

I said you put faulty products in and they are failing and they refused to make it right by fixing it. Products with 15 year and lifetime warranties should last longer than 35 days. They fail to mention any 30 day warranty when I purchased from them.

I will never use Garage Door Service Co. again and highly recommend noone else doing as well
