Get called to an interview in December 2009 at: Seabank Building, Level 9, 12-14 Marine Parade, Southport, but was not convinced the job was legitimate upon hearing that the employees had to contribute money towards uniforms & training which totalled to the following: a) $790 for full-time employees b) $590 for part time employees c) $490 for casual employees
"¢ The interview is mostly likely presided over by FX CORP's Managing Director going by the name of by the name of Christopher Abdelmessiah, who describes himself as an "˜Egyptian Businessman'. Chris normally hires people without initially checking their credentials and does not bother to check with a prospective employee's referees.
"¢ He will then proceed to ask for payment for uniforms and training and use subliminal messages and pathetic excuses to make employees give up their money. He proceeds to sign the employment contract without acknowledging + filling out either ANNUAL LEAVE or SICK LEAVE sections.
"¢ At the interview Abdelmessiah proceeds to tell potential staff that they need to undergo a police & criminal check which takes 4-6 weeks. He also goes on to promise fake dates in relation to training and start times.
"¢ Received a call from trainer on the job that if you have passed the interview you are required to attend a 3 day training course. This contradicts the information on the uniform request form which says trainees have to appear for 5 days. During the training an employee is required to bring: To complete your training successfully, you are required to bring:
"¢Tax File Number details and Superannuation information o Bank account information"¢Any permits, licenses, diplomas and certificates (if Applicable)"¢Outstanding uniform and training contribution (if Applicable) Training was located at:
Level 2, Pivotal Point Building , 50 Marine Parade, SouthportQLD 4215 During Day 1 & Day 2 of training the following was discussed:FX CORP was a company based in Sydney for the last 6 years (I presume from the year 2003) and had various divisions such as Liquor; Automotive; House care; Contact Centre Operations; Health & Beauty; Home Improvement & Maintenance; Warehouses; Security & Monitoring; Personal Training & Gymnasiums, Business Development; Sales & Marketing; Transport & Logistics; Wholesale Operations; IT Operations; Training through HR & Recruitment; Quality Control & Monitoring; and lastly the Freedom Card product [under the industry banner of Customer Sales & Support]. Brenda also mentioned we would get 3 summer and 3 winter uniforms for the fee of $790 (applicable to most of us since we were full-time employees). "¢ Supposed Locations of the following divisions:"¢ "¢Recruitment & HR @ Bundall (Tower 2, Level 9)."¢Call Centre @ Southport Central (Between Level 1 to Level 9)."¢Warehouse stocking Fresh Produce @ Yatala."¢Brisbane HR & Recruitment @ Level 18, 333 Ann Street , Brisbane ."¢Graduate & Training Systems ( Sydney )."¢Accounts Department ( Sydney , Brisbane , Gold Coast, Melbourne )."¢Administration Teams for all departments based in 4 cities above."¢Employees Bonus systems (to be paid in Cash only)."¢Career development and progress"¢Day 3 of training was also used to reiterate and go over the departments of FX CORP:"¢Sales & Marketing (Advertising); Business Development (based in Sydney),"¢responsible for building the FX CORP brand name;
Customer Sales & Support [call centre & Internet operations out of Southport Central], adept at handling queries, orders and complaints from Freedom Card customers; HR & Recruitment based in Bundall; Transport & Logistics involved in the acquisition of Materials & Produce; Freedom Card concept; Employee Disputes & Resolutions Department; Wholesale & Support Teams; Credit Department; IT SUPPORT; TRAINING & SUPPORT (RECRUITMENT); Quality Assurance & Quality Control; OHS Department; Monitoring Operations & Security Teams. o Let it be noted that during training various questions were posed to the trainer about who was FX CORP's CEO, Brenda Fraser had no straight answer and appeared to be coy & devious with all of us who trained under her. During training, Brenda boasted of having a security firm as a business, but that too may turn out to be a con. o It is during this time that any and all trainers under Christopher Abdelmessiah's employ now or in the future are advised to extort the uniform fees by way of coercion & blackmail. The trainer proceeds to tell those that have not paid up that they will lose any and all deposits made prior and if full payment is not made, they cannot get a job at FX CORP. o A start date was provided in late February 2010 with fake promises made by Christopher Abdelmessiah about start dates for future employees and that everything was still "in the works". o All this came to a grinding halt when around early March 2010 we were ushered into an urgent meeting with Chris himself, Initially Chris used to give us speeches on "Trust" and how we should go about trusting him and vice versa.
What we were in for was the shock of our lives. (By this time I believe 3 former employees had left FX CORP and successfully received their money back). o Chris went on to mention that 3 of his Brisbane staff had contacted ACA [A CURRENT AFFAIR] for non-payment of their salary-the very same people who dobbed Chris in as a scammer. That day we were not allowed to leave the building as fear gripped the lot of us, we were told "reporters" from various news agencies were hawking outside the door waiting for us to give a statement to the media. News of this did not go down well with most of the group. The so called staff from 'Brisbane' was none other than our colleagues who shall go unnamed as I refuse to speculate on who they were. Nevertheless over the course of the next 3 days we all came to the office in a sombre, if not disillusioned mood only to be told that FX CORP would have to cease trading as ACA had uncovered that the entire FX CORP debacle was an employment scam. I recall receiving an email from Chris advising me that "FX CORP PTY LTD has ceased trading until further notice. Regards, Christopher Abdelmessiah". My colleagues and I were horrified at the prospect of being unemployed once again. One day the week after, a colleague proposed a group meeting outside the office which I believe took place on March 12th, 2010.
To my shock, horror & amazement a camera crew was setup to go live. We were told it was ACA wanting to do a story on us. The kindly reporter took up our cause with great fervour and interest, not to mention he worked his hardest to track Christopher Abdelmessiah down. Apparently a staff member read an article in a newspaper titled Sunday Mail dated March 7, 2010 which alleged that Chris Abdelmessiah committed credit card fraud in Paris (France) "" the name of the article is "Scam hits Job Hunter" which alleges a victim had been ripped off to the tune of AU $1600 without their knowledge or consent. The story by ACA finally broke on April 8, 2010 which exposed Christopher Abdelmessiah and his venture into FX CORP as a scam.
Brenda Fraser had known about the scam and quite possibly was hand in glove with Christopher Abdelmessiah. I only say this because of Brenda's overall aloof attitude, devious mannerisms (she would advise me that I would only hear of a start date when I paid the remaining money for uniforms and training, which I thought were forms of coercion, blackmail and extortion) and the fact that she would always claim ignorance when asked simple questions during training, which I must admit a trainer should be knowledgeable about in the first place! Not to mention that Brenda and Chris vehemently refused when I suggest they take out the uniform fees from our pay (which is what most organisations do). The complaint regarding the FX CORP scam is being investigated by various government agencies and at this point in time! Christopher Abdelmessiah is currently hiding out in Sydney NSW, Australia. The last known location was of FX CORP was Level 9, 1 Corporate Court , Bundall, QLD, 4217. According to a yellow pages search http://bit.ly/g22jGuFX CORP's Sydney address is: 43 Rocky Point Road, Kogarah NSW 2217.Truelocal Australia also states another address in CRONULLA (SYDNEY) where Abdelmessiah has opened a butchery using theFX CORP name & logo. Details can be found at: http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/fx-corp-pty-l has tried conning innocent people in the past using various partnerships thorough third parties. But this time for him & his cronies: the jig is up - believe it or not!
Christopher Abdelmessiah and FX CORP are not to be trusted by any means and all consumers must refrain from shelling out even 5 cents to this CON MAN & HIS UNDERLINGS!!!!!!!
In the meantime I can only hope that Christopher Abdelmessiah does not reach his target to con 6000 people by December 2010. As he and Brenda so proudly stated this was their intended target. Chris's last known landline number was 07 5510 ****, which is also still ACTIVE! An Article appears in the paper alerting people to this scam: http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2010/03/12/197 Also included evidence of FX CORP's ABN being very much active, even till NOW…. Further evidence of FX CORP'S ABN details can be located at http://abr.business.gov.au/ Please enter the ABN 52 1** 793 636 into the search field for results.
