Had ice storm tree damage, they were in the neighborhood working and offered to address my issues. Generally using walk up contractors is a bad idea, but their offer seemed fair, so I took a chance.

They did a good job and I have no complaints.

They did suggest more work, but there was no undue pressure to accept it. Overall I was very pleased.

I used Furr's in May of 2019 to cut down / remove multiple trees, grind the stumps and trim branches on three large Oaks. I considered the job to be difficult because the trimming required climbing up 30 into the large Oaks, the removal of a large Walnut was 10 feet from the house, and the removal of a huge Oak was next to the driveway and only 40 feet from the house Considering this and the risk involved I never had any concern for safety or damage to property.

They had the knowledge, experience and appropriate equipment that was well maintained.

Upon completion they did an excellent job cleaning up. They were honest and professional the entire time and I will use them again in the future.

I am providing this review a year later because I was looking for Furr's contact info to do more tree cutting for me, noticed other reviews and felt it was necessary to provide a review for my very positive experience with them.

I signed a contract with Furr's to remove my oak and chip the Stump on 11/26/17 in the amount of $2300. Upon arrival at my home on Tuesday, November28, 2017, Joseph Furr told me he could not do the tree for under $5000 ,although his employee saw the tree and Joseph received a picture of it in advance.

He was rude, tried to tell me it was his employee's fault for pricing the tree too low and then said he didn't have the authority to sign the contract. When I tried to reason with him about this, Joseph stated he had the right to cancel the contract. He was rude and insulting to me, called me a liar about the home equity loan I applied for so I could pay for the tree removal. He did apologize between insults.

He continued to throw Mike, his employee, under the bus, said he was going to fire him, said he only knew him for about a month. and it just went on. I told him that if Mike was new, he should go with him to price jobs. Joseph Furr's fiance, Melissa, told me he would have done that but they were out of town on vacation.

Now to the truth. Joseph Furr was back from vacation in time to look at the tree. So Melissa lied. Also, Mike is his step brother who has a lot of experiance in the tree business.

Mike already informed his step brother, Joseph Furr, that he had lowered the price to help me since I am on a fixed income and had to get a loan. Joseph Furr received a picture of the tree in advance of the job which at first he denied getting and later admitted to. The entire experience really stinks. I took pictures of them to prove they came to do the work.

And pictures of them leaving without doing the work when I didn't agree to $5000. What a scam! The only positive out of this is that Mike is attempting to make this right by me on his own. We will see what happens.

The bottom line is DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH JOSEPH FURR OF FURR'S TREE & LANDSCAPING. IN MY OPINION, JOSEPH FURR CANNOT BE TRUSTED A complaint with DPOR in Virginia may be forth coming.

HAPPY CONSUMER! Great Service!!!! Great Attitude!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Great Job guys! Furr's was doing some work at my neighbors house In King George and I asked if they would come over and take a tree down for me that was too close to some power lines for my liking (and the power company for that matter) they came right over and had the tree on the ground and cut up into 18" sections in a matter of half an hour ( I wish I could have taken some before and after pics but they cut it down too fast) and ground the stump flat to the grass! more than i could have asked for the price negotiated! Not to mention its the middle of February right now and its about 15 degrees outside!!

They were very knowledgeable and even took the time to teach me some interesting info about the tree they were removing and other things to keep an eye out for (wood peckers, wood destroying insects, fungus')

Thanks !!!

TREE SERVICE RIPOFFS!

They aren't the only rip offs out there. 95% of the tree companies are rip offs.

I called 6 different tree services for an estimate to remove a 2 foot thick red oak with some large roots possibly cracking my house foundation. I admit it was a BIG tree, but $6000-$7000 were ridiculous prices. The seventh guy (I can't say their name) because of retaliation from the first 6 just wouldn't be right. Anyway he/they did the tree for $2650 and $350 for the stump and told me before hand that they didn't remove the stump grindings so I used it as mulch.

Oh and no payment until the job was done.

I want to say their name but I can't. Darn it.

Incredibily Rude 'Boss'

At about 2:30 on a warm August Sunday afternoon a huge truck pulls into our neighborhood and begins to grind up tree branches from a huge tree they must have cut down earlier. The noise was outrageously loud!

Neighbors were trying to enjoy their weekend in their yards and on their decks. I went over to talk to the workers and they were sympathetic and apologetic and said they would be done in about a half hour. Then the boss, Raul, showed up. I asked him what the deal was.

It's Sunday afternoon! He immediately got angry and defensive. Said it had nothing to do with me. It wasn't my property.

How dare I complain about him making money! (he said that twice.) I was flabbergasted (and then, really pissed).

There are lots of tree services out there. This one, who clearly can't deal with the public, does not deserve your business.

I have had same type of irate and loud response to questions asked of the Furr Tree and Landscaping. He thinks it all about money not customer service.

In fact, the owner does not record his jobs by name and address. He records his jobs by the amount of money he charged.

If u read the cards Raul is not even a member of furrs tree and landscape

Tree Trimming Rip Off by Furr's Tree & Landscaping

9654 James Madison Hwy

Warrenton, VA 20186

(540) 497-****

Contact: Furr, Joseph

We had this company come to our door and offer their services as they were doing some neighbors. They said they would trim the dead branches overhanging the driveway and others from trees in our yard. They offered to do it for $400, I agreed. However, they did not do as promised. They didn't cut almost any of the branches/limbs they stated. At the time only one of us was home and I was upset and questioned why he didn't do as he stated, he said well it would have cost more and I said but that is not what I agreed to. He said well he would've had to climb it and that wasn't part of the deal. I was angry and just gave him the check and told him to leave. My wife came home and was equally upset and walked across the street where they were still working and spoke with the foreman. What they did could have easily been done for $150 by a better tree service. She argued with the foreman who called his boss and reimbursed us a measly $100 for it. That is not the issue, we were upset that they didn't do as he stated he would have done when I first agreed to their services. Basically the work they did, I could have done with my own pole saw.

I then called the owner Mr. Joseph Furr to let him know that his foreman was lying to him about what actually happened and that neither of us were happy with the work. When I mentioned that he was taking advantage of a disabled veteran the day before Independence Day. He didn't care and was quite rude to me on the phone. Great customer service! Beware of this company and we have put the company on our do not call list with our HOA.

If you want to be a owner to a company, customer service is very important. Lying and not listening to your customer is not how one does business.

Oh and being told you were a real big company and then upon searching for said company online and nothing exists shows that you are not a real company at all.

I had bad experience with Joseph Furr Tree and Landscaping. Had a person named John to stop by and make the deals to trim limbs over my house and remove stumps.

The owner was not present. The stump grinder came removed stumps -OK. Joe the owner shows up and asked which ones to cut. I and my wife started to tell him - he talked over her and myself.

I know which ones. Asked him to get John to verify which ones we agreed on. He said John has left for the day {John just rode off}. Well two of the high limbs in the deal did not get removed.

Hooked him up with my neighbor the same day to cut a few small trees. She had him back a few days later to remove trees, cut them into fireplace size and take the limbs away. He cut the trees into large pieces threw them and the limbs over her fence onto another neighbor's land. When I called to get him back to remove the brush and cut the wood into smaller sizes to help my neighbor {74 year old}.

He became irate, very loud and tried to lie his way out. Put my neighbor on the phone to verify what was agreed on. He was very, very irate and said to her *** you" !

Just had same experience but I'm out 1000

I just had a bad experience with Joseph Furr, He quoted a price for me to pull out a tiny stump that was no more than 5" in width, He said he would do it for $20.00 when he was in the area and to call him back the following week to see where he was going to be working, when I did, he didn't answer so I left a message, he didn't return my call. I waited a couple of days and called back and told him it wasn't any hurry and I didn't mind waiting until he was in the area, He told me he couldn't do it because he wouldn't be in the area for a long time and if I wanted it done to do it myself, he was very rude to me and I told him, I was giving other people I knew his number but they would hear about this, He said, "I don't care" and hung up on me.
