Franklin Electric Does Not Stand Behind Their Products

In 2008 Mega Construction purchased a Franklin Electric water pump (#234317****) from Bryant Pump in Ocala, FL for the construction of a 46 acre horse farm; the cost was approximately $6000.00 and the installation and contractor fees another $2000.00. The pump was on very limited use, if any until the Equestrian Center was completed in the Fall of 2010 as the only reason it was installed in 2008 was in case Mega Construction needed it during the construction of the horse farm. The pump originally failed in March 2013 requiring $2150.00 in repairs from Bryant Pump. This service call replaced the motor and pressure sensor, both of which should have had a warranty since they were new parts. The pump failed again in June 2013 and was repaired by Smokey’s Wells & Drilling at a cost of $3300 + $900 for an additional repair to the electrical system. At the end of October the pump failed again due to a failure with the sub drive. The quote for the parts to repair once more is $3150.00 and another $1000.00 for installation.

In researching the problem, three companies have advised us to completely replace the system. The cost depending on the type of pump range from $4000.00-$5600.00. $13300 has been invested in Franklin Electric equipment which was only serviceable for four (4) years and now we are faced with another large expense.

We have heard that Franklin stands behind their products and we were hoping they would be able to come up with a solution since we have $13,300 invested into a pump that had been used for 4 years and a motor that is less than two years old. If we replace the pump we will have over $15,000 invested.

Franklin Electric was contacted and after 4 ½ months of indecision, refused to even sell me parts at cost. Since the equipment was out of warranty, they stated there was nothing they could do.

The new pump cost $4765.

Please do your research before purchasing a Franklin Electric water pump so you do not end up in the same situation.
