Double electric bills
- - We lived in the same home 15 years with wood heat.
- - Bills were under $200.
- - 2026 cold spell doubled electric bills.
- - Seniors can't afford meals.
We lived in same home 15 years. Same appliances and use only wood heat for heat.
Bills general stayed under $200 a month. Cold spell hit in. 2026 and electric bill double and tripled! No way while using wood heat!
We are being robbed! People on social security cant afford to eat or pay bills.
User's recommendation: Go off grid!
Horrible service
- - Disconnected 11 days past due; charged $280 past-due and $197 reconnection; 10 am disconnect despite 12:30 payment, reconnection 1h20 later.
We were disconnected for late payment- 11 days late. The bill was due Christmas day I called on a friday to explain we have been off for holidays with no unemployment or anything and she told me monday 10 am disconnect.
I call monday told her I can pay the bill by 12:30 pm cuz had to wait on money to arrive. They wouldnt give me the time, they disconnected us at 10 am Sharp. Charged me the 280.00 I was 11 days past due and an additional 197.00 in fees to reconnect 3 hours later on the same day!!!! And it was still an hour an 20 minutes after I called before they turned it back on.
It's very cold here and if they are gonna charge out the *** to reconnect, then it should be IMMEDIATELY NOT WHEN THEY GET TO IT. .,I will be going with an alternative electric option, they are not a business worth dealing with at all
User's recommendation: DONT EVER USE FT LOUDON ELECTRIC
Electric Service Review
- - No one is available for updated information at FLEC; power has been out for four days; another storm is coming; they urge filing complaints with the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission.
There is nobody available to give updated information at FLEC. I think everyone needs to send complaints to the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission.
We have been without power four days with another storm on the way. Ridiculous!!!
Other Product Review
When people say they are considering moving here. I advise them to reconsider...for one reason only...Fort Loudon electric.
Power company theft
- - FLEC advertised 8.3¢/kWh; bills show over 18¢/kWh after fees.
- - First bill nearly 3x prior usage; after junk fees it was over double.
I Just Moved to Tn. The power Co here is: Fort Loudon Electric Coop.
I had always heard that TVA supplied power was inexpensive.I was told by FLEC the KWH rate was 8.3 cents. This is a good price and about 25% less than I was paying. When I received the 1st bill, I was pissed to see it was almost 3 times what I was paying for the same usage. After I took off the 1 time junk fees it was over double and billed at over 18 cents per KWH. I called the Co and was told they charge eveyone $22.50 per month for nothing, nada, zip, because they can.
*** can it be legal to charge $270 a year for nothing because you have a monopoly and can steal from your helpless customers ?? I have lived in quite a few areas of this country and have never been forced to pay the electric co for anything but power usage.
This should be totally ileagal to charge for the right to do business with these monpolistic crooks.

Had the same problem. They won't even give you 1 day, when you try to work something out.
They don't care at all. Just want that money!
