- Ford Kuga PHEV recalled; charging is blocked due to fire risk.
- Software update due soon; please share progress and prioritize the update.
My Ford Kuga PHEV has been recalled and therefore I cannot charge it up due to fire risk. I understand that a software update is due soon; can you please let me know how the update is going? It's very, very frustrating; surely an update can be prioritized.
Thanks

Verified ReviewerNon use of my battery in my ford Kuga
- Letter advised not to use charging cable due to fire risk.
- Parks Ford Inverness says fix due next quarter; I want updates and cost relief.
Hi,
I received your letter last week advising me not to use my charging cable as there is a risk the battery could catch fire. Today I visited my local dealer (Parks Ford Inverness). I was advised that the fix would come sometime in the next quarter.
I find this very disappointing. I bought the car to save myself money and help the environment; with this issue, I can't do either. Before this issue, I would charge my car at home using the low-cost electricity in the evening. I then travel to work (22 miles). This used up all my charge; I then charged my car at work at no cost, so basically, I had a very small cost in running my car. Now I have to fuel my car regularly due to the issue; this may continue for another 4 months, which is unacceptable.
Can you provide any updates for me or suggest a way that I am not out of pocket?
My registration is V7 GMD.

Verified ReviewerComplaint -Faulty Car
- Ford Fiesta reg CY68 KVE broke down Oct 20; belt failure may be costly.
- Asks if Ford will cover costs given age under 6 years and <40k miles.
I purchased a Ford Fiesta, reg CY68 KVE, in Feb 2024. On Sat 20th Oct, the car broke down and had to be towed by the AA to a garage.
I have been informed that the timing belt has gone and it will be expensive to repair. I was advised that this is a known fault and, after looking on the internet, I found that Ford has revised the timing belts replacement from 10 years to 5 years and from 100,000 miles to 40,000 miles. I left a review for Trust Ford and was asked to email customer services. I did as requested despite expecting the usual scripted reply.
I got a call from John at Trust Ford Edgware who said he had seen my email, but I need to contact Ford directly as they should be able to help with costs. As far as they are aware, 10 years is still the recommended time for replacement (although the internet suggests this is a known fault). So, will Ford help, as this should not happen on a car that is under 6 years old and has done less than 40,000 miles? I suspect I was just told this to 'move it off their desk' and Ford will do the same.
I have purchased 2 cars from Trust Ford and looked to upgrade to a Puma in Jan, but it seems Ford is knowingly allowing customers to drive faulty cars. At best, I am looking at a cost of £1,000's to replace something that should not have happened - according to my call from Trust Ford.
He was clever not to put that in writing so it is 'deniable'. I look forward to your response on this matter.
Preferred solution: Faulty car to be fixed and costs of that refunded, on call from Trustford dealership, told me Ford should "help with costs" as a timing belt shouldn't break on a car that is less than 6 years old. Internet and AA recovery man said otherwise
User's recommendation: Known faulty, denying it and passing the buck to other "Ford" departments

- Oil leak returned after 6 months despite £1200 cover/belt.
- Injectors replaced; engine failed and was scrapped for £6000, and there was poor service.
Contacted company to open a case.Didnt want to know said it out of 84 month.Injectors are 15 months old not bothered that they have failed under 5000 miles.Told about needing a new engine at 52 thou miles not bothered Will never buy a ford product and by the look of all the trade forums I'm not alone.Very poor service Ford
Transit was bought 2 years ago from independent garage. After 6 months, the engine started leaking oil.
New timing cover and belts were done for £1200. However, it started leaking again after 3 months. Two months later, injectors were replaced at 50 thousand miles. The engine would not start so we had another diagnostic done due to low fuel pressure.
The engine was scrap, costing another £6000. Now, the injectors are gone again after 3000 miles. Called for a case to be opened, but they couldn't do it. I think I've driven 6000 miles and had to spend £8500 on repairs in 2 years.
Back again tomorrow at Hartwells in Scunthorpe for 2 injectors changing. I think I have received very poor service from Ford regarding my transit.

- Ford UK is accused of asking customers to fix a known EcoBoost fault.
- The reviewer says the fault has been known for years and lawsuits were won.
Ford UK think it's perfectly acceptable to expect customers to fix their own cars with a known mechanical fault to the ford ecoboost engines that they've known of for years and already had lawsuits won against them they are happy to keep peddling these death traps maybe they are waiting until the death toll racks ups thousands upon thousands are affected and they simply don't care
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerBeing left abandoned due to 182 model Ford Mondeo hybrid being discontinued!!
- Transmission part for Mondeo Hybrid costs 9,000 excluding VAT.
- Cannot drive since January 10; Ford customer service reportedly refused support.
Ford believe that it isn’t their responsibility!
Having been informed that this costs 9,000 exclusive of VAT ...
which I have to pay ..
I am now informed that the relevant part number 254****
is not available in Ireland or the UK or worldwide.
Can you please explain to me how I am supposed to function without a Ford Mondeo Hybrid that Ford have sold and I have purchased in good faith as a longtime Ford Customer and I now have a 182 car that I haven't been able to drive since the 10th of January because it cannot be driven . Bear in mind that I didn't have an accident with it or have been in anyway responsible for the problem.
I do think that Ford must intervene and assist in some way to alleviate my problem and costs !
I do think at this stage my case goes beyond the warranty box ticking exercise when in fact Ford and its customer service regarding a hybrid car falls far short of Ford Standards.
Ford customer service have refused support on this matter!!

Long running issue with car
- Escalation was raised to Ford Technical and the dealership.
- They promised a callback on 27/3 but gave no return by 29/3.
Spoke to ford customer services to escalate the ongoing issue I have with my car , she said she wouid does to the dealership issue to raise it with Ford technical which she kindly did, she also said she wouid call me back last Wednesday 27/3 its now Friday 29/3 and as yet no return call , so Ford uk customer services are equally as bad as the dealership service departments

Verified ReviewerComplaint
- DPF issues found on a Transit Custom; the dealer suggested an engine change.
- Please reevaluate the van issue and review dealership practices.
Monday 20th November 2023
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the van I have purchased from your company and the unsatisfactory service I have experienced at one of your dealerships.
Our Transit Custom 2017 has been experiencing serious issues with the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), and we sought assistance from one of your authorized dealerships. After an assessment, we were informed that the problem potentially required an engine change, which would incur significant costs.
However, we have reason to believe that a more thorough investigation into the issue has not been conducted, and it might be related to the DPF rather than the engine itself.
Furthermore, the proposed solutions from the dealership, including the suggestion to change the head gaskets for £4000 and subsequently the entire engine for an additional £4000, lack a sufficient level of confidence and clarity. This approach has left us feeling dissatisfied and concerned about the quality of service provided by your authorized dealership.
As a loyal customer of Ford and an advocate of the principles embodied by Henry Ford, as articulated in "Think and Grow Rich," it is disheartening to encounter such a disappointing experience. Henry Ford's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction is not reflected in the service and resolution proposals we have received.
I am reaching out to you in the hope that we can work together to find a satisfactory resolution to this matter.
I trust that Ford takes pride in addressing customer concerns and ensuring that its vehicles meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
I kindly request a thorough reevaluation of the issue with our van and a genuine effort to identify and resolve the root cause of the DPF-related problems. Additionally, I urge you to look into the service practices of the dealership in question to ensure that other customers do not encounter similar inadequate assessments and costly proposals.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response and the opportunity to restore our confidence in Ford's products and services.
Preferred solution: Help to resolve the issue
User's recommendation: Don't buy a 2.0 litre custom as they ate notorious for this issue so it seems!
Overheating engine fault
- Ford Focus engine overheated and needs a replacement engine.
- In 3 months, problems cost £2500.
- Model is nicknamed Ecoboom due to engine failure.
I have a Ford Focus Ecoboost and the engine has overheated which is a known fault with these cars and now the car needs a new engine. I have had the car 3 months and every few weeks there has been a problem with something breaking on the car.
I have already spent £2500 on it and now engine broken. These cars are known as Ecoboom not Ecoboost due to the engine blowing up.
Had a Suzuki Swift for approx 3 years and never let me down. Never buy a Ford again, contacted Ford and no response!
User's recommendation: Never buy!

Faulty throttle
My two year old ford focus has only been driven five thousand miles, and it has started juddering and going into limp mode, particularly when I have been stopped to allow vehicles to pass that have right of way and when stopping at roundabouts and red lights and crossings.
This is the third time I have had it back to the dealers, the first two times I was told it is driving like a dream.Yes a nightmare, not only is it very dangerous but will be very expensive to put right.
Ford company need to do do a recall.
The car has already been recalled once for a different faualt.

Here in the U.S.A. Ford knowingly sold cars that exploded with even minor rear impact.
They knew it before, during and after production. They decided it was cheaper for them to pay legal settlements to dead and maimed persons than to correct the issue.
That cost them a bundle because of the courts who at last dispensed some form of justice though inadequate. That's Ford for you.
