I've spent three hours trying to get either the file or access to the audio file I ordered weeks ago, and which they said was ready.
- - Three hours to access a court recording that should have taken minutes; FTR has the file.
- - The order number was given, but support can't locate it.
After three hours I'm still trying to get access to a court recording. It should not have taken even three minutes!
They gave me an order number but the so-called "customer support" people cannot find that order. REPEAT: THEY CANNOT FIND THEIR OWN ORDER NUMBER!!! The court says I have to get the recording from FTR, and the Court can confirm that FTR has the file. In fact, I gave the court the order number and the Court can open and hear the audio file, but won't send it to me because FTR is supposed to do that.
But FTR cannot do that either! So I'm stuck. There should never be a California state agency (i..e, a Superior Court) contracting with an out of state (out of country even!) company because it is harder to sue out of state businesses.
And because they cannot be sued, customer service is non-existent. If I could give them zero stars, I would!
User's recommendation: Maybe, the court clerk will accept a blank thumb drive and put the recording on that, so you can get around FTR.

Not getting Sundays paper. I enjoy reading the paper EVERY day especially on Sunday and when I do not receive it on this day it gets me a little annoying!!
User's recommendation: It’s a great paper except when you don’t get it and try to get a hold of someone to tell them.
Problem with delivery
Hard to reach a human to speak to about problem. Read to cancel subscription. Been customers for almost 20 years!
User's recommendation: Do not recommend subscribing to thus paper
Can't convert their file extension without paying $149
- - The reviewer calls For The Record a monopoly and says you must use their software to listen.
- - Sharing requires buying the manager for about $150.
This company, For the Record is a monopoly. As a customer who needs an audio file I went the courthouse and bought it. THEN I HAD to download this HORRIBLE software to LISTEN to it. THEN TO SHARE IT you HAVE to BUY THEIR software for $149.00 to convert the file so others can hear it. THIS IS ROBBERY.
To those who have purchased a CD from the local courthouse who uses For The Record software, and found you cannot share it unless you buy the manager from FTR, here's the solution.
This .trm is OWNED by https://www.fortherecord.com
They have a monopoly on this, and you CANNOT convert it unless
you pay them $150 for the manager that is required to convert
the file. I called, and was told that, so here's what
I did. Took my cell phone, started playing the CD via FTR's
free download, recorded the court hearing, and
instantly I had an MP3 record without paying FTR a dime. Thought
I'd pass this on since they are forcing ppl to pay $150 IF they
want to share the recording that THEY bought at the courthouse.
COURTS DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE. IT'S A SCAM FOR THOSE
WHO HAVE TO BUY YOUR CD'S
- That i finally discovered how to beat their system
- Having to pay 149 bucks to convert one file extenstion
Preferred solution: stop stealing from people

I am not sure where I am supposed to leave the update, but they got ahold of me. Lisa Parsons did a great job, and walked me through what was needed to fix the issue.
I don't think I would have ever had a response if I hadn't used this website to do it. Thank you, Michele
