Verified Reviewer |A big problem at one of your stores, concern, and prejudice
- The shopper says they were profiled at checkout and told they couldn't use the express register with 23 items.
- When asked for a reason, no answer was given.
I was recently profiled. The system manager said I couldn't check out at express register 25 or less.
I had 23 items, and I asked her why not. I have under 25. She couldn't give me an answer.
I said, 'What is it? Because you think I'm going to steal something because I'm black?' No answer.
- Prices are very good
- Managers are not very professional
Preferred solution: A resolution to this problem
User's recommendation: The stove in Baytown, the managers are something else

Restroom only for employees, not customers
- Staff said restrooms are for employees only, confirmed by two other employees; the reviewer felt slighted and left, wondering how access is decided.
On Saturday 6/25/23, around 3:30pm, I went to the Food town Supermarket in Hollis, N.Y. after a doctor's appointment.
The doctor's office (which is around 10 miles from my apartment) is in the same shopping center, as Food town.
As I finished shopping, before going to the cashier, I asked an employee if there was a restroom. I was told the restroom is not for the customers, but for the employees only.
I verified this response, with 2 other employees, who had the same response.
I still couldn't help but feel slighted and humiliated. Is this what all customers are told?
After that, I decided I didn't want the merchandise, and left the store.
I then thought of looking at Food town (Hollis, NY) customers reviews, and came across a certain one from 2 years ago.
In this review, the customer was politely escorted to a basement restroom, which made him feel he was treated with respect.
How does the Food town employees decide this? Which customer can use the restroom, and who cannot.
He gave Food town a high rating.
To me, he was a preferred customer, treated with respect, and he will continue shopping at Food town.
User's recommendation: Customer consideration, courtesy, and fairness.
Restroom only for employees, not customers
- Restroom is for employees only.
- A past review described a man escorted to the basement restroom.
I felt slighted, when told the Food town restroom was not for customers, and "only for the employees". In the past, I have gone to this Food town in Hollis, (N.Y.) when I am finished with a doctor's appointment, that is located in the same shopping center.
I live about 8 miles from the doctor's office.
More details:
I had finished shopping, ready to go to the cashier, but decided to ask if there was a restroom where I could go.
I felt let down, when the response was yes, but not for customers.
After that, I decided to leave the store.
I then read through Food town reviews.
There was a review from 2 yrs. ago, about a man describing his experience at Food town as very satisfied, when at his request, was politely escorted to the basement restroom, but not with me.![]()
User's recommendation: Have a restroom for customers, not just preferred customers
Restroom only for employees, not customers
I felt slighted, not valued as a customer they want to return back.
Are they that way with all customers, who are asking to use the restroom.
User's recommendation: To have a restroom for (their) including me, customers.
