Food Giant - Harrrassment

At self checkout. Only one available machine, which I went to.

I had lots of groceries and there were only 3 plastic grocery bags. I walked over to another self checkout where the customer had just finished and was leaving. I reached for some of the bags, of which there were plenty, to take to my machine. Black female employee came rushing toward me.

She said you can't do that! I said there were only 3 bags at my machine. She said why didn't you tell me.I said b/c you're standing right by it and can see for yourself. She said 3 bags is enough as she looked at my basketfull of items.

I went to another machine and she kept watching me. My light started blinking and she came to my machine and said you have to scan your items before bagging. ALL MY ITEMS HAD BEEN SCANNED.

SHE WAS HARRASSING ME, I spend several hundred dollars a month at Giant and I was enraged by this treatment. I suggest that you dismiss her immediately.

UPDATE #2: I just wanted to clear up a couple of things. First of all, as far as I know, there is no more to this story.

This is exactly what my son and I were told. As far as I know, no one ever talked to Jamie about this. If they did, no one ever let my son know. My son is his guardian, lives with him, and helps Jamie to take care of his finances.

If we had known about it, we would have talked to him, and explained to him why this is troublesome. Finally, I completely support the girls right to go to management and complain if she was uncomfortable. (Yes, her comment that was overheard was not compassionate, but I have confidence that it was made because I completely trust who told me. They would have no reason to make it up, and it was openly made in front of customers.) My grievance is with how management handled the whole situation.

It was not handled correctly, in my opinion.

I truly am humbled and appreciate your gracious support for Jamie!

Some may think its wrong of me to vent on here, but I am very upset because a member of my family is very upset. On Friday, my brother, Jamie Pyle was FIRED from Food Giant, after working there for just short of twenty years. He was fired for telling a girl that works there that she looked beautiful, for going through her checkout line multiple times, and throwing trash away in her trash can.

Instead of a supervisor telling a mentally handicapped person to just not talk to her or move on, he was fired! When I asked him why he said it, he told me that he was just trying to be kind because thats what were supposed to do.

The girl was overheard to say that she shouldnt have to work with someone like that.

Jamie is very hurt. Food Giant has always been his life. With a mental capacity of a 7 or 8 year old, there are very few things he is able to successfully do.

But, he worked at Food Giant full time, and gave it his all. He came in when others wouldnt. All of his past managers have always been very accommodating and compassionate to him. We have always been very appreciative.

But now, I almost believe they were just trying to look for an excuse to get rid of him.

I have wrestled back and forth about my next steps.

I dont want him to go back to work there now, because I dont want him to be treated unfairly. But, I want him to be happy and hes devastated.

Lacking in customer service

I frequent the Fulton store and I have noticed in the last year or so it has been going downhill.

The last 4 or 5 times I have run in to buy a few things they have only had 2 checkouts open. Management was up front and did not open up another register,even though there were several people waiting in line. I used to shop at another grocery store in town which closed several years ago.Whenever they got busy,the owner or the store manager would open another register.That was customer service,something that Food Giant is missing.

The employees are not friendly and it seems as though most of the cashiers are new. It is not hard to greet customers and smile. But they don't greet the customers and they act like they don't want to be there.

This makes me want to go to another store.

It WASNT the cashier WHO checked me out but another who just looks at me with HATE, The Security Office/ SHIERFF was mentally bullying me both are black and Im Light skinn who looks like a mutt, Is she asian or mex Im niether Im human. But other than that most of the prices was good clean store.

Friendly stockers EXPECT THOSE two negative naySayers towards me n my two kids.

It didnt help bc also i had other pple trying to bully me so today expericen was not good. But ok thanks always be kind bc you dont know what someone going thru.

Food Giant Customer Service (Columbus, MS)

Food Giant Customer Service in Columbus, MS is very unprofessional! Some customers are ignored, while others are favored and are tended to first!

Employees are slow to respond to the needs of customers, and the dining area of the grocery is very unclean! It is very unfair for customers, who work just as harder or even harder, to be treated like garbage. I hope the employee attitude of Food Giant is changed very soon. I don't recommend any one to use their customer service desk until new, responsible employees are hired.

It is a shame. This is the only complaint I have against this store.
