Last night, Christmas Eve, we decided to share the evening at Fogo as I recently lost my mother, and we did not want to cook or do much as this is our first Christmas without her. We always cook on Christmas Eve so this was a night out for us.
We have dined at almost all United States Fogo locations as work and military assignments have taken us around the country. We have never had a bad experience at any Fogo, except this Burlington, MA location. This is the second bad experience. We were actually enjoying our night, food and drinks.
We were not done yet, and a couple brought in their dog. An obviously dirty and drooling bulldog. The leash was even very dirty. No service animal vest, and the dog proceeded to be fed off the table (we have pictures of the dog eating from the man/s hand from the salad bar plate her just brought back to the table, as well as the dog laying there staring at us).
They were seated next to us. The dog coming over to my pants and actively looking around. I have allergies to dogs. Disabled papers to document this.
We own two hypoallergenic and shed free dogs so we are actually dog lovers. This situation was not right. This was no service dog as his behavior proved, and the man proceeded to feed the dog food he had just gotten from the salad bar. Rather than move these people and the dog.
We were asked to move. We were stunned. Three times staff came over and said they have another table ready. We were very upset with this.
They said they have to accommodate the dog. Seriously? We were very upset over this. The dog actually smelled on top of this.
The manager, Abby, relayed they have to accommodate a service dog. We told her about the fact I actually have an autoimmune disability which includes dog dander, etc...At no time did they check these people to see if they had papers this was a service dog. No staff went over to ask. We were watching the entire time.
It is stunning that they would try and make us move, after being there for more than an hour enjoying our dinner and drinks on Christmas Eve. Abby did refund our money, after they had taken our credit card to pay already while I was trying to talk to her. Also, it was very deceptive and sneaky for a man to come around with a tray of small sized trials of an orange and red drink, making it look like they were giving these away for free. I even asked a few times if the FREE trials would come to our table.
Then, they charge us $14.00 each for these very small trial size drinks. Very deceptive practice. This location has had bad management on our visit in the past. This is the ONLY Fogo location out of all we have been to many times that does not feel the same as other Fogo locations.
The meat is usually. not cooked right or seasoned right. I have to ask over and over again for Filet, and possibly receive it by the end of our dining experience. Just not a good experience every time we go.
Yet, we felt last night we were having a nice time for once here. We enjoy the Boston location, and have dined there many times. We have dined at many Fogo locations. It is our favorite restaurant.
This restaurant could have a lawsuit pulled on it for not accommodating a disabled HUMAN, and accommodating a DOG that did not appear to be a service dog. We know people who train service dogs for military veterans, and at no time is a SERVICE DOG EVER allowed to eat from a table. That dog sat there begging for food, looking around, staring at patrons.
Fogo is a very expensive restaurant. People get dressed up to enjoy a night out, save money to enjoy this experience, and at not time should they be burdened with a dirty dog sitting next to them, eating off a table, and then having management try to make you move and accommodate a DOG.

Verified Reviewer |Complaint about our visit to the Tyson's corner location in Virginia
Good Evening, my name is Sheida B .My son got accepted into a medical school. To celebrate his success,we decided to go to the Fogo de Chao restaurant (Tyson's corner location )on Saturday July 29th.
I made a reservation for 2pm and we all were so excited to eat at Fogo de Chao for the first time. We got there @ 2pm. As soon as we entered the restaurant we realized that inside the restaurant was very hot and humid. As we were waiting to be seated I went ahead and asked the hostess about the temperature of the restaurant.
She told me that the A/C is not working. When I asked her if they are doing anything about it she replied that they will be working on it. I told my son if he wanted to go somewhere else for lunch since the temperature inside the restaurant was very hot and very uncomfortable. My son said he really wants to try this restaurant.
We decided to stay. We were there for about an hour. It was the most uncomfortable experience we've ever had. We go to different restaurants and this was the first time I experienced something like that.
We even asked our waiter if they were going to fix the A/C issue and he said that he had no idea if anything being done about the A)C issue. For the money that you charge for the food I would expect a better service.I just wanted to make a complaint and let you know how our first experience was with this restaurant.
I have sent a complaint message to the manager if that location as well. Please feel free to contact me via email/phone.

Today I had an interview at the Fogo de Chow downtown Indianapolis. Upon entering the restaurant it was trash all over the floor the bar had no parts in there so it had no posters I waited for over 20 minutes before I even got approach.
I also waited another 10-20 minutes for them to come and interview me because I was going on a professional basis. Upon one look at me I was sitting down with one interviewer and another one came over here she doesn't fit the criteria. They're very unprofessional the restaurant is very dirty it had flies in the buffet bar it was gross trash all over the floor.
Dirty dishes stacked up at the door. Bathroom no trash liners no paper towels no soap disgusting.

Verified Reviewer |Got sick eating at their denver location
DOrdered their seafood tower and the seafood brought to us looked like it had been in the fridge for weeks we still ate some despite our better judgement and became violently sick the next 2 days. The manager didnt seem to concerned about our complaint when we told him and only removed the seafood from our bill.
The server then proceeded to bring out a piece of cheesecake that no one ordered for my friends birthday while we were still eating our food.
We felt like we were being rushed out for complaining about the seafood. Very disappointed in how this whole situation was handled and even more upset because this is my favorite restaurant in Denver and now Im not sure I want to return at all.

Verified Reviewer |Worst Dinning Experience EVER!
I made reservations to celebrate my Sister and Girlfriend Birthdays on 11/05/21 at 5PM. I was so disappointed and the lack of service and unethical practices.
Obviously, I was not going to spoil the their special day and complain so I made the best of the worst experience I have ever had at a Churrascaria (Brazilian BBQ). Mind you I have been to many in my life time in Four different continents including Churrascarias on the roadside in Brazil and received better service and much better food, and not as over priced as the Irvine, CA location. I believe that the owners Fogo de Chao would learn a lot from them. That said, Fogo de Chao Irvine took the prize for the absolute worst restaurant I have even had the displeasure of eating at.
As Brazilians my Mother, Sister and myself are use to going to Churrascarias we know what to expect which is service excellence. Fogo de Chao Irvine is far from knowing what that is, no wonder the franchise has changed ownership and I'm certain will change again. I'm not one to complain however, as a consumer I believe its important that public know what they are in for when they go to Fogo de Chao Irvine, CA their salad bar was far from what is expected from a high-end churrascaria, but what really added insult to injury was the fact that they walk around offering samples of drinks and other things then charge you at the end absolutely over priced drinks. These so called samples were $25.000 not knowing I was going to be charged, simply unethical and bad business practice, not telling your customers the cost involved.
I order a Glass of Malbec wine that was $10 on the menu but on my bill it came to 16.00. The cost is not the issue here its the principle. Also, We had to ask the server several times for drinks and food. I said to myself as I left that the pen would be mightier then the sword.
Fogo de Chao may delete this again but I will post this comment on every single social media and will use word of mouth advertisement. I did leave a 10% tip because I don't believe its the server fault not to be trained properly but the management and ownership fault.
Friends beware of Fogo de Chao Irvine I will never go to them or any other Fogo de Chao and will tell all my Family, Friends and associates of my experience. BTW This is the Second time I writing this review on Face book since the first time they replied apologizing and asking me for my personal contact information then deleting my bad review, interesting that as you look at the reviews on Facebook below there are only positive.

Hello Customer Service Manager
I am very dissatisfied and upset at the total destruction of a very special family night for which people flew in from Chicago for - Totally devastating!!
As the Director of a major Silicon Valley service company I am aware of the complexities of managing people and delivering complex and varied customer requests. For that purpose I took particular care to have not one BUT two conversations with management prior to arriving (a week prior).
However, as you can see below the evening was like I said above a total disaster. As you can imagine I am an extremely upset customer

I am tempted to go to the internet to post my experience so that others do not have their very special night ruined. However, I felt it is the right thing to do to advise you first of what happened.

Balloons seemed like a surprise and eventually were not inflated properly and drained within minutes of meal starting – this set the tone from an evening at Fogo De Chao went from bad to much much worseI ordered these balloons from Chicago (Northwestern University) custom made.
What was supposed to be a special touch for a special evening became a joke!! Thank you Fogo De Chao!!
Bread station was empty for about 15 minutes. We essentially finished our salad by the time it came. When it did come there was bacon not just next to the meat but actually seeping into the bread basket – major problem as we don’t eat porkWell, this is just incorrect supply management and lack of attention to detail.
Especially in the San Francisco Bay Area people are very sensitive- it doesn’t take much to fix but of course too late for us. Thank you again Fogo De Chao!
Our table was at the front end of the restaurant and the only one in direct firing line of the open door. When we highlighted this we were told the restaurant was full (which it clearly wasn’t) and we were stuck!!On a windy night, when you see everyone at the table has to don back on their heavy coats and requesting to be moved the attitude that was sent to us was – tough it out!
Meat waiter kept bringing non lamb dishes (repeatedly) and when we finally pointed out that we were a just lamb table (per the card turned to green on the table). He was verbally very upset (no offensive words) but he loudly scolded my son for pointing this out – others heard and we felt like leaving immediatelyThis is just totally unacceptable.
Really really unacceptable. We were simply astonished. I noted as this waiter walked away he joked loudly about us to another waiter nearby. This really made us very very nervous about his demeanor and likely future attitude” At this point honestly we just wanted to leave…
In my conversations with managers before arriving I stated multiple times that we would pay the full amount but just wanted the lamb.
They said they would make a note of this on the reservation However, when all we got was one lamb dish and I asked why no lamb chops the waiter (loudly – so the whole table could hear) stated that the green card meant just the one lam cut and we had not paid for the whole meat selection. He went on to say we would have to pay an additional $15 per person to add that. At this point to my sincere and deep embarrassment the whole table said don’t do it we don’t want you to pay, it’s too much etc., etc., etc. effectively killing the joy of the nightThis was a real evening killer.
As a Director of a major Silicon Valley service company I pride myself on professionalism, engaging customers effectively and creative ways to solve problem - but at all time, at all times – extreme sensitivity to the customer and the customer’s environment. This was not dealt with any concern for these points. Very upsetting indeed!!
I called twice and so I don’t know why this was not understood. I confirmed upon arrival with the manager so I guess confirmed 3 times.
If that was (after 3 times!!) still not understood then the best way to deal with it was NOT to blurt out in front of all guests that you haven’t paid enough!! Really!! This finally did kill the night.
Thank you again Fogo De Chao

Legally, you have no case. You have already proven you don't know the law, so you are just running your mouth at this point and saying nothing.
Instead of obsessing over the dog and waiting for the staff to illegally ask for the dog's service animal papers, you could have moved and enjoyed your evening. If you chose not to, THAT IS ON YOU!
We didn’t ask for papers you idiot. The Manager said she did.
We just asked them to seat them somewhere else as they were seating them next to us due to allergies. You’re a real jerk. We could have both been accommodated, and we were there for about an hour enjoying our night before they came in. I worked in law firms for 17 years, and you’re 100% wrong.
People who think they know everything when they clearly don’t are so annoying. You’re an idiot for not even seeing someone had allergies to dogs, and simply wanted them to sit somewhere else. A bulldog being fed food from the salad bar plate of the owner. Yea, service dogs don’t do that.
A drooly, dirty bulldog. Christmas Eve dinner at Fogo, great stuff.

They didn't ask for papers because LEGALLY THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO!!! Please, educate yourself on the laws surrounding service animals.
Businesses are NOT legally allowed to ask for documentation and/or proof via a service vest, etc. All a business can do is ask 2 simple questions: is that a service animal and what task are they trained to perform. That is ALL they are allowed to ask! You say you know people who train service animals, so I can't imagine why you aren't more familiar with the laws!
Obviously, this table lied to the restaurant (a service dog would have laid quietly under the table and not have been begging for food), but the restaurant had their hands tied. If you were so allergic, you would have had no problem moving tables.
Instead, you decided to exacerbate the situation. I've no comment on the drinks you thought were free and your complaints about the food, because I think you added that to pad your complaint.
Get over yourself. We know service dogs are allowed in restaurants.
THEY TOLD US THEY ASKED FOR PAPERS, when in fact, they did not (that’s lying to us). We quietly asked if they could seat them somewhere else as soon as they walked in to be seated next to us due to allergies. We were there long before they came in. It’s also illegal not to accommodate us, or did you not know that?
We have been to many restaurants where dogs are there, but never one begging, dirty or being fed food from the table at an upscale restaurant. It was a bulldog. You do the math Einstein. As for the trial drinks they charged us for, that was very deceptive.
Bringing them to tables as if it was a Christmas Eve celebration gift. They have never done something like this, and we have been to many Fogo de Chaos many times.
Handing people small trial drinks, and then charging them is DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES. What the *** is wrong with you responding like this?
