  • Contacted FL Rural Legal Services for divorce help; told she had a good case.
  • He filed for divorce without her knowledge and was awarded the house.

Reached out to FL Rural Legal Services for help with a divorce. I won't even go into too much detail, but I was told I had a very good case in my divorce.

My husband left; I'm a 54-year-old non-working wife of 17 years. He moved to another state with his ex-wife, took my car, took all of the money out of the bank account, and turned off my power and water. I was staying with a neighbor when I couldn't stay in my house because of the heat. He was in contact with me the entire time.

He filed for divorce without me knowing, ran it in the paper, was granted a divorce, and was awarded our house. I found out once it was final. He is a narcissist and planned everything very carefully. Rural Legal Services contacted me, offering me a consultation to see if I could do anything about the way it was done.

They set up the appointment, called the day before to remind me. The time came for the call to come in, but it didn't happen. Because they told me they would help but didn't, in the end, I guess I'm going to be homeless because he has now taken my house away from me, and I have nowhere to go and no money to go on. It's truly sad women get treated like this, and no one will help them.

We get abused, our homes taken, our cars taken; basically, our lives are taken, and no one cares.

I do not recommend FL Rural Legal Services to any women in desperate need of help. They lie to you; they do not care.

Pros:
  • Non
Cons:
  • Everything they say

Preferred solution: I needed help, but didn't get it

User's recommendation: Go elsewhere, they don't care

I was referred to the Fort Pierce office in june regarding an unlicensed contractor hired nov 2017 to do an irma damage report, which he never did. I came away from my first and only meeting w/ these words "be prepared to pay" and "oh, you'll settle for less." 7k loss and I had educated myself and knew about treble damages, as in theft by deception which is what he did.

I have complained to the head office, to no avail.Sent all the unanswered emails and my complaint of inaction. Yes, it is a very humiliating experience to be treated like you are the criminal.
