What has happened to flora, I've used flora for years but lately it's not spreadable it's hard and when I've used it the bread is ripping,my only option is to look for a different margarine also there is no taste to it, hopefully someone will reply to this email. I would not recommend this product.

Pros:
  • It was easy to spread and had taste
Cons:
  • Not easy to spread and no taste

Preferred solution: For the flora to return to the way it was easy to spread and more taste.

Flora Cuisine Is A Bit Of A ***

Flora say their Cusine cooking oil product, contains 45% less saturated Fat than Olive Oil. Don't be sold on this blatent misdirection.

The mini site on Flora's main site, tells you you get 10.5g fat per tablespoon, (94.5 calories), with 1.1g saturates.

I went on a calorie counting website and checked what a tablespoon of Olive Oil is.

Olive Oil has 14g Fat, (124 calories), but only 2g saturates, meaning this miraculous 45% reduction of saturates in Flora's product equates to only 0.9g saturates. Whoopie.

However a sedentary male diet of 2,000 should be limited to 70g fat and 20g of that, or 28.28% should be saturate fat as an upper limit.

So the 2g Saturate in Olive Oil represents 1/10 of GDA, so hardly heinous.

However if you do the calculations, the good fat in Flora's product is 9.4g per tablespoon, but in Olive Oil it's 12g per tablespoon, so compared to the increased saturate in Olive oil, the increased good fat is nearly 3x that. Highly desirable.

The only upside thus far for Flora, is that Oilve Oil is normally in a glass container and their product is in a plastic one, so their product won't smash when dropped; but if you smash Olive Oil bottles it's clumsiness not bad design.

The only other considerations should be price of both and quantity of product in both. Bear in mind not to compare Flora to either Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Extra Virgin, as being purer they probably cost more than basic Olive Oil, so compare Flora to basic.

I don't consume Olive Oil, hence why I can't compare it's price offhand to a more purer kind, however do Flora really expect many people to fall for the 45% less Saturate Fat claim, without even asking themselves, 45% less of what exactly?

Stop mugging the public and insulting their intelligence Flora and stick to making spreads and plant Sterol products please.
