Formal Complaint Regarding Unpleasant Experience at 30 S Wabash Avenue, Chicago Flat Top Grill

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Dear Flat Top Grill Corporate Office,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service and treatment my family and I received during our recent visit to your Wabash Avenue, Chicago Flat Top Grill establishment.

On April 6th, my husband, our 4-year-old child, and I decided to have a quick lunch at your restaurant.

We were promptly seated and placed our orders with the waiter, which included two bowls and an extra plate for our child to share. We were under the impression that sharing was permissible, as the waiter had no objections and even brought us an extra plate without hesitation.

However, our dining experience took a turn for the worse when the manager approached our table in a rude and confrontational manner, stating that sharing was not allowed in the restaurant and informing us about the existence of a children's menu. This abrupt interaction left us feeling bewildered and unwelcome.

Despite the manager's discourteous behavior, we patiently waited for an explanation from our waiter. He apologized for the manager's actions and suggested that we order an additional bowl for our child, which he would price as a children's bowl.

As we began to fill the extra bowl provided, the waiter intervened, insisting that we transfer the food from the adult bowl to the child's bowl, contradicting his previous instruction.

Feeling frustrated and disrespected by the lack of consistency and professionalism displayed by the staff, we reluctantly complied with the waiter's instructions. To our dismay, we were charged for three full bowls, despite our loss of appetite and the fact that we barely touched the food. Our total bill amounted to $74, an exorbitant sum considering the unpleasant experience we endured.

What troubles me the most is the manager's blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and refusal to address our concerns. While I cannot definitively assert that our mistreatment was rooted in racism, I am deeply troubled by the possibility and feel compelled to raise awareness about our distressing encounter.

As a loyal patron of your establishment, I am appalled by the unprofessional conduct and inhospitable treatment we received.

I demand a formal apology from the management at Wabash Avenue, Chicago Flat Top Grill and a refund for the unjust charges incurred during our visit.

Furthermore, I urge you to implement measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future and to prioritize diversity and inclusivity in your customer service training programs.

I trust that you will take prompt and appropriate action to address this matter and restore our faith in the Flat Top Grill brand.

Failure to do so will compel me to share my negative experience with my friends, family, and social network, thereby tarnishing your reputation and discouraging future patronage.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your swift response and resolution.

Sincerely,

Harini

You can feel as bewildered, dismayed and unwelcome as you want. The manager told you there was no sharing and a child’s menu. There was no reason to carry on about it.

Okay. Let me explain what happened.

We were seated and the waiter took our orders I had asked him about the kid's bowl also that she's too small to finish it and he insisted that I could share my adult bowl with her and even offered an extra plate while serving the bowls. When my child was about to take a bite the manager stomps in to say this. Do you think this was my fault?

They forced me to fill an extra bowl, which i complied to by the way and treated us so badly with no apology whatever. Shouldn't these places have a better regulation ?

You aren't compelled to express or explain anything to anyone, especially on this 3rd party forum. I, unlike the troll, looked at the website and the menu.

You purchased 2 bowls and asked for a plate to share with your son. Those purchased bowls were YOUR food. Paid for. We are not talking about buying an endless appetizer and sharing so the next person can avoid ordering their own.

That is your food, in that bowl and you can share with an imaginary friend if you want. You really need to write google, yelp and tripadvisor reviews AND go the corporate site and complain there.

They have instagram and facebook, complain there so an actual person who can do something sees this. And, don't feed the trolls who don't even do a second of research.

Thanks I will do that . I don’t want anyone to go through what we did .

Manager complaint

Hello,

A family member of mine had a reservation yesterday afternoon at 4:30 for 20 people. The reservation was booked prior in advance due to the amount of people in the party.

The manager who worked on October 21st at 4pm treated our party horribly! She refused to sit us down stating that when the reservation was made there was a different manager in charge so she had no knowledge of it. Proof of the reservation confirmation was shown but the manager didnt care. Two cop cars showed up and the manager on duty spoke to them for several minutes before coming in to finally acknowledge us.

The service was rude and hurtful, we love flat top grill and a birthday dinner planned a month in advance was ruined due to the managers rude behavior.

All 20 people included in our party had to leave and find somewhere else to accommodate us which was close to impossible. We didnt deserve that treatment.
