Multiple complaints

Since learning that there are other women and retired couples who have been harmed by this company, I would like to know if there are others. Also, I see that there are a couple other scam artists out there posing as general contractors, and they make Monroe County an unsafe place to own a home, since Monroe County has no licensing requirements or board to oversee the conduct of general contractors. There are no laws protecting homeowners in Monroe County as there are in other counties in NYS. We homeowners need to do something in order to protect ourselves. Refused to do what I had paid them to do

Updated by user Dec 03, 2021

I have been working with BBB to try to resolve this for some time now. Five Star keeps claiming that if I get a third party inspection that finds any issue with the work they did, they will repair it. I had already sent to them excerpts from an Inspection Report from...

Original review Nov 03, 2021
In March 2020, I hired Five Star because they said they would replace water-damaged vertical sheathing and install a small Polaris casement window (that they recommended) in a small attic dormer space. I also gave them permission to replace 2 (maybe 3) pieces of plywood roof decking in that same small attic dormer, but only because they promised to not disturb any other roof decking. They took my money, started ripping apart the roof they had promised to not touch, refused to stop, and never did the work that I had paid them to do. They caused so much damage that now I not only need to hire someone to do what I paid Five Star to do, I also need to hire someone to remove the entire "new" roof that Five Star installed, so that the destruction that they caused to every place that "new" roof touches can be repaired.
