I Need to Cancel my membership... Not Freeze or Hold...But...CANCEL. I went in to the locat So. Lake Tahoe Fitness Evolution and the only one available was this guy named Ian Gustafson, he said he is the Fitness Manager. I tried to simply cancel my membership until I can afford to re-start, But he would Not let me. He said I must first pay $59.00 before I cancel my membership...

#1: I did Not have any means to Pay that for my pleasure of cancelling. I Feel Hostage!!!

#2: I asked for him just to prorate, AND CANCEL USING THE CARD I HAVE ON FILE... He Refused saying he cannot because company policy, he cannot cancel me until I personally pay the $59 in the store.... I am not going to drive all the way back, for a simple process.

#3: Is this REALLY your Compnay Policy??? What ever happen to some pride in Customer Service at the Company Executive Levels.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!! WARNING They mess up your account state they can not withdraw the monthly fee because of my bank account error.

Let's preface this with the fact that I have been a member at least 1.5 yrs. with excellent pay and account history. Let's also preface this with the fact that when I joined I was told by the General Manager at that time that I could cancel at any time Mon - Sunday 7 days a week. When cancelling I would of course have to pay the last 30 days.

After many phone calls since January when this all began the last phone call was from Heather stating that if I paid my monthly balance fees of 13.99 a month x 3 months she could then put in a request to corporate to drop the unwarranted late fees of 5.00 a month x 3 months. These fees are unwarranted because my account number at my bank has been the same for at least 9 years. They stated my account information was incorrect. This error occurred when my son and I went in on December 4th to sign him up.

This being the first of April and spring break I actually was able to make it home from work before the late hour. I stopped by Fitness evolution in concord to pay my fees January thru March AND April which Tyler the boy working the counter told me was a total of 55.94. I paid cash and have my receipt. I then said I need to get the paper work to cancel my membership.

He said oh sorry you have to cancel before 6:00. This is no where in the contract AND unless I leave work early there is no way to get into Concord by 6:00. I then asked to speak to a manager. The General Manager Victor came out and proceeded to tell me I have a balance of 30.00, 30.00 how can that be?

I just paid my monthly fees. The only fees that should be on the account should be the unwarranted late fee of 5.00 x 3 for January thru March which in the world of addition should be 15.00. He said I am just telling you what is in the computer. I asked him to show me where in the contract it said an account could not be closed with an unwarranted balance of late fees.

He told me NO he would email it to me. I said no show me, as a General Manager he should know where the clause is that he is quoting. He spoke to me as if I was ***. I asked for corporates number he said he was not going to help me anymore, he would not give me corporates number when I asked why he said because of the way I was talking to him WHAT!

I didn't cuss I didn't yell I merely asked questions in a frustrated concerned matter this is my money and time fitness evolution is playing with. He then turned around went into the office and shut the door. I then proceeded to ask Tyler for the number to corporate along with Victors last name. He smirked pointed at the WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE sign.

Unbelievable. I am going to post this on Yelp and speak it to everyone in the gym world I find this practice unprofessional and unethical.
