Fisher Marine
Water in motor compartment
I bought a used 2004 22' Fisher Pontoon with a Merc. 120 I/O I took it out twice, and both times the water filled the motor compartment.
There are two plates on both sides of the motor area that keep peeling down and filling the compartment with water. Taking out the components. I am in the prosses of making what I call skid plates. that overlap the two that are in there now.
Hoping that the water goes to the rear, instead of ripping the two panels down anymore. It has cost me a lot of money to keep fixing.
I would not tell anyone to by this boat due to this issue... Jim
Preferred solution: Putting a skid plate underit.
Fisher Marine / pontoon boats, are junk boats
In 2008 I purchased a new Fisher Marine 200 liberty pontoon boat. This boat was rigged improper from the factory.
This problem caused the engine to be swamped by water rushing over it.
after several complaints and the threat of a lawsuit they agreed to fix it.
They kept the boat for 3 1/2 months trying to find a way to fix it without spending money on it.
A complete rerigging and conversion to hydraulic steering was the fix.
The 2008 60 hp engine was replaced with a 2007 engine and I was not told about that till the first warranty repair / service call.
It then developed electrical problems requiring three different visits for a week at a time to fix .
When I ordered this boat i paid for a saltwater protection package and it was never added on to the trailer or boat, and the result was premature corrosion.
The stereo and horn has since quit working as well.
I have spent an additional $1500.00 dollars on this boat to repair items that were supposed to be covered under the saltwater prootection package.
Johnny Morris is the owner of fisher Marine/Bass Pro Shop/ bass tracker co.
I advise all consumers to stay clear of boat purchases from these companies .
They do not stand behind their products without an argument,
and are very poorly built products.

I believe we have a perfect example of a novice boater. First off the engine rigging and mounting locations only vary a few inches. Since all marine engines are designed to get wet, your conclusion of the engine being swamped is false. There is no such thing as a salt water package on small engines. Its a factory gimic. You still need to flush and protect the engine with a corrosion inhibitor. Your trailer should be galvanized not aluminum in South florida.
It sounds like this boat was never covered and left to the elements causing corrosion.
I can put 3 guys in the stern, throw the throttle down in reverse and swap the vessel too.
I see no falt of the dealer or mfr based on your statement...

I am thinking of purchasing a 2005 Liberty Fisher 240 (24'), with a 90HP Mercury; will this package tow skiers? I have read pros and cons and AM a novice with pontoon boats. Thank you for any advice you can give.
I have a 2007 liberty 18 foot fisher it had a 25 hp on it when I got it two years ago I put a 60 hp Bigfoot on it less than a year it blew up...mercury replaced everything that needed...this year 2016 60 hours on moter and boom blew moter up again...mercury replace everything. The problem seems to be water hitting the moter cables at the back of boat causing water to splash up to back of moter filling the cavity through the breather hole causing the intake to suck water. The question is how to fix the pontoon with deflecters.
I have a 2000 Fisher 220DLX and have never had a problem out of the boat.
I love my fisher 19 foot pro!!!
