POOR CLEANING SERVICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I will never use this windows and fan cleaning service again. My windows were bearable, but some of them they cleaned the outside, but not the inside.

They did not clean the sills as promised, and the ceiling fans were still black with dirt. I had to have my handiman get up on a ladder and clean them the next day.

The FISH cleaning team did shoddy work and when I tried to contact the office, they wouldnt call me back. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Charge for all gutters when only a couple needed cleaned

On August 15th I got an estimate on cleaning my gutters out assuming they had went up on the roof and looked at all of them. They told me it was going to be $250 which I didn't think was to bad.

On August 29th they came to clean my gutters stating that only the front ones needed cleaned out. I would never have paid $250 for someone to clean just my front gutters. I feel they should have charged me less.

I wrote a letter a couple weeks ago to them and have not heard anything. Not a happy customer.

The worst place to work

Oh yeah we were taught to skip windows and more or less do a bad job. Customers would complain, but our boss wouldn't do anything about it.

Horrible environment. Highly not recommended as a service or a job. Manager and boss were never on the same page, which led to so many mistakes. Which led to the employees days being messed up because of lack of communication.

Just horribly mismanaged. Absolute bully for a boss that didn't care at all about employees. All he cared about was the money. The money we worked for, but he got a part of.

So if a job wasn't done because the customer didn't want it, it was our fault as the workers for not forcing them to get windows done.

Do not hire them. Do not work here.

You are working for a bad franchise owner. If we skip windows or only spot check, we will be fired.

Sloppy incomplete window/screen cleaning

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Fish Window Cleaning-Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, 11-9-17. Cleaned my condo windows in a sloppy way, with water dripping onto my wood floors.

I had to grab one of my sheets to lay down on the floor for the dripping. The cleaner did not clean the screens or wipe out the tracks/frame although this work is listed on my work order summary. What a mess! I called the office who told me they'd have the operations manager call me.

After no contact from the manager, I emailed the owner (which is the way I set up the appointment). She also didn't have the decency to contact me and make this situation right.

My check, of course, has been cashed. Don't believe the "professional" website; Fish (at least in this area) doesn't live up to its promises!

Missed windows and poor customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I recently used Fish Window Cleaning Service in early Aug. 2017.

There was a little bit of an issue getting an appointment to start with as well as the free estimate but they did get me booked. Also there was rain forecasted that day and I was concerned about this as well. I initially paid for just the windows but decided to have the screens done as well since neither had been cleaned in 2 years and I recently moved in and figured this would be a good idea. I had to take time off from work to have this done which was not an issue as I knew they didn't work on weekends.

On the day of the cleaning two young men arrived and I advised them about adding the screens to the cleaning and they said no problem. (Per the list of services offered by Fish when they are cleaning inside the home they state they use shoe covers, they did not in my house). All the screen were removed and everything seemed to be going smoothly with the cleaning. Towards the end of the job I mentioned the 2 windows higher up in the living room and if those had been cleaned.

One of the young men said "oh we didn't see those" and got on a ladder to clean them. When everything was done or so I thought, I tipped them and 1 walked out the front door which I shut and 1 walked out the garage door leaving it wide open and my dog ran out. A few minutes later I walked into the laundry room and saw a screen sitting on the floor and noticed that window was not cleaned. I called Fish back to inform them the crew that was at my house missed putting a screen back in and cleaning the window.

They had the crew come back and install the last screen and clean the window. The next day (Friday) I was coming down the stairs and noticed that the largest window in the house over the front door was clearly not cleaned inside or out. I called Bridget Lang at Fish to inform her of the previous day's mishaps and asked when they could send someone out to clean the missed window. She said she would look into what happened and would schedule it to be cleaned.

She asked if they could come out right away but I told her I was at work and since the error was on their side, could they come out Sat. morning to clean it or at least later in the evening on a week day. She said she would see if someone could come out that Sat. but I never got a call back.

I called her again on Friday evening to see if she was able to set something up, and still no call back. Then I called Gary the following week and left a message about the missed window and still haven't received a call back. I basically paid for a window that I never got cleaned. The height and size of the window was the reason I called the service in the first place.

I wasn't happy at the lack of communication from anyone at Fish to correct this issue. I won't be using their service again and certainly can't recommend it.

Dirty Job

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Cleaned my windows in a sloppy way and left basically most of them still dirty. Called the office to let them know and they were supposed to send the manager out to review, and they never followed up on it.

I again called them several times after that and they kept promising to review the situation and still no response, So overall they seem to be over whelmed and do not have enough time or manpower to clean windows right the first time and then they do not even give the customers the courtesy to come back out to rectify the situation. Bottom line they are overpriced , they do not do a good job, and all they care about is collecting their money with no regards to any complaints after the fact.

If you want to pay for an OVERPRICED WINDOW SQUEEGEE JOB then hire this company!

If you want to pay for an OVERPRICED WINDOW SQUEEGEE JOB then hire this company!

They do not clean your window screens (which are supposed to be part of the price). They do not clean the window sashes or window frame that the glass sits in (which is supposed to be part of the price). The do not use padding to protect your floors, wear shoe covers, or clean up after themselves (which was “promised" with the initial estimate). Even though this company was informed during the initial estimate that the carpet had just been installed and the walls were freshly painted; they still drippled solution on freshly painted walls, carpet, and the floor. They marred up freshly painted walls as well as gutters due to not having proper padding on the ladder. Additionally, the same ladder caused damage to the hardwood floor because they were unable to manage the ladders size and weight. The homeowner had to tell them to stop so that they could run to get left over remnant padding from their carpet installation and insist that this be used to protect the hardwood flooring because they already had the ladder resting directly onto the hardwood flooring. Again, because they were unable to manage the ladder's size and weight they hit walls, and the front door-now we have more damage to undo.

We thought that we hired a window cleaning company, not a demolition company!

The owner Sandy Carver, will make “promises” to return calls or have the operations manager call, she does not live up to her "promises" as she will state that “she promises to call you back”; she makes excuses why she does not call the customer back. That "operations manager” that she promised would call, never has called.

We are surprised that they are able to stay in business as they provide NO customer service. They need to learn the basics of business such as the importance of communication, follow through, and actually delivering on “your promises”; don't make empty promises because it only supports the fact that you have no business model and do not care about providing service. What the website portrays is diametrically opposed to the lip-service and lack of cleaning service you receive.

Our recommendation is to save yourself time, aggravation, and like John Matarese from WCPO’s channel 9 says "Don't waste your Money"; you would be better served to do it yourself.

In reviewing this complaint clarification needs to be made. We did call, left messages and there was no reply.

I directed the ops manager to go to the home to review the above claims. There were cars in the driveway and people in the home. No one would come to the door.

Since we were not able to validate the complaint we were not able to address the issues.

Fish window cleaning to phone call no show

Hired Fish to wash my windows suppose to call the night before to confirm the appt. No call, suppose to be at my house at 8-8:30 am no show.

Called Dave at Fish to see why no one came. He didn't know - called the cleaner who "had an emergency" and didn't have his phone. Hard to believe there was no phone available to make a courtesy call. Really poor service.

I am assuming that the cleaner is not an employee of Fish but a subcontractor. Dave did offer to reschedule and give a discount, by now it I was almost 2 hours after the scheduled appointment. Dave called back to have the man who was scheduled to come in an hour.

Not willing to ruin my entire morning for incompetency of Fish Window Cleaning. They need to screen their "employees" - would be concerned letting someone so incompetent and unreliable in my home!

Fish Window Cleaning

I hired Fish Window Cleaning to clean my gutters and the outsides of my windows. Paid nearly $460 for these services. Imagine my surprise when I got home from work and found the cosmetic part of the gutter still covered in leaves and other *** that had collected there.

When I called Fish to ask about it, they told me that cleaning that part of the gutter was a separate job. They would have to power wash it (undoing the clean windows.) So they wanted to charge me for power-washing and re-cleaning my windows. I asked several homeowners about the situation and was advised that they should have cleaned the leaves off the outside of the gutters as part of the service. BTW, I took a siding broom and brushed the leaves off. Took me 10 minutes, and these yahoos wanted to charge me $150 to power wash them plus the fee to redo the window exteriors. WHAT A RIP OFF!!

I will never use this company again

There has to be some specifications and boundaries. It is very important to get a detailed written scope of the work that is proposed to be performed in writing before agreeing to let any contractor in your home.

Sometimes I think that we forget to ask nicely and it is easy to put an individual representing a company on the defensive without meaning to. Yes, it is true that we pay good money for a service and we want to get what we paid for. But service work is a bit different than buying a commodity, or buying insurance, buying a washer machine or an option to go see a movie. It is different in that the value received is the actual sweat, of a fellow human being who most likely has a wonderful heart (that of a humble servant) to be doing such humble work to begin with.

Although the company is being paid their people are nonetheless putting a whole lot of personal effort into the work. There is an intangible value to everyone's time that transcends the money value we place on our time. That is why we typically feel so good when someone helps us out even though we are paying them to do it. If we begin the dialogue by clearly stating our expectations and asking the company what is specifically involved in the standard cleaning service, we can then compare the value we might get from one provider, to the value another one will provide.

I suspect that in this case, the complaint might have been made with a superfluous level of anxiety and tone of indignation. Perhaps unintentionally. It is not so much what we say but how we say it that gets us the results we need (or not). If we find a nice way that provides understanding for the dignity of the workers involved then the complaint might have been handled very differently.

No one wants to feel like they are on the receiving end of someone exercising their power for the benefit of sending social signals to their friends or merely to put down others to feel better about themselves. I'm not saying that was the case here, but it may have felt that way to the service provider. Service work can sometimes feel pretty thankless and it sounds like the Fish person handling this complaint was feeling unappreciated. that is not an excuse for him.

Everyone has a bad day. Only Jesus Christ gets it right every time. Too bad that he or she didn't dig deep and act professionally, go the extra mile and try to meet this customers expectations. We all miss the mark.

But we can learn from our mistakes and try to do it better next time. It could have had a very different ending for all parties involved.

It generally takes to prideful people to to mess up any relationship, business or personal. Let he among us without sin caste the first stone.
