First State Bank Of Athens

I had to change my debit card at my bank (first State bank) in Torrington Wyoming. The lady doing it for me asked if I wanted to keep my old photo or did I want a new one.

I asked if she had playmate of the year and was told no. So I kept the old one. Within an hour I got a call telling me that what I said was inappropriate. I do not agree with that since you are a licensed, legal business.

Also if I would have asked for a Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso would that have been innapropriate? If a woman had said the same thing I don't believe anything would have been said.

She would have been considered a lesbian and if something like that was said to her, lawyers would have been crawling over that bank in an hour. I am not upset with you, but thought you should know what happened.

Absolutely hate that I have to visit a first state bank to deposit my mortgage every month!!! It's 2016.

They function like they're still in the early 80s. The tellers on Harper are wishy washy about accepting my cash deposit without complete account number (although I have done it at THE SAME LOCATION, EVERY MONTH for a YEAR!!! I showed up today with sweats on and my appearance may not have been the best- and they judged me for it and would not accept payment....

Thankfully I don't bank with them! Thankfully haha no I have brains (my mom does too, but she's been banking with them since the early 80s haha)

First State Bank of Athens, Texas is operating in the dark ages.

My debit card was severely worn and in need of replacement. I called customer service to request another one. I was told that I had to sign a request form before they could order one. I agreed to come in and sign the paper.

After signing the paper, I realized I was being dismissed, even though the woman still had my old card. I asked her if I could have it back. She says "No, ma'am. We have to cancel the old card. It would be denied if you used it."

I was very frustrated by this. I said "Well, that's rather inconvenient. It will make paying for things fairly difficult."

The woman just stared at me with a blank expression.

I have had accounts with other banks in the past and have never had this problem. With other banks, I have simply called and requested a new card. They mail me the card and I destroy my old one and activate the new one. It's as simple as that. Now, however, I am required to wait an entire week before having a debit card again. There are really quite a few places that I frequent, that don't accept checks!

I guess I should have known better than to use a small-town bank.

First State Bank in Gainesville, TX and Valley View, TX Stinks! Their customer service is inept and they are incapable of communicating clearly. They put unnecessary holds on checks being deposited. One of the officers uses her "power" to punish customers she does not like.

Many people despise this bank. Customers are no longer valued. We are baited and then stabbed when the have hold of our money.

First State Bank needs to be overhauled...

I have switched to another bank, but it takes time...

I cannot wait until I am away from these podunk imbeciles... Do not waste your time with First State Bank in North Texas. They are a pitiful excuse for a bank.
