Don't use for mortgage!

There is a very limited market for mortgages for manufactured homes and this bank was recommended to us by Detrays in Puyallup. We have had nothing but problems from the beginning when our home was being built and this lender (Dave P.) described our contractor as his friend and we subsequently had unauthorized payments being made to him for work we questioned.

Since then we have had multiple issues with materials coming to the wrong address (which we have corrected at least six times!). This caused the cancellation of our home owner's insurance at one point. Most recently, we did not, for some reason, receive information about the increase in our escrow payment until it was too late to make it up which forced a significant increase in our monthly payment. Last month there was a mixup in the electronic payment which led to an overpayment by us of $944.

We are senior citizens on a fixed income and this amount of money makes a big difference in our monthly budget. I requested a repayment on Aug. 2nd at which time it was suggested that I "just leave the money there and apply it to next month's payment." I explained that we need that money to make our monthly budget and was told that a check would be issued to us (the money had been electronically withdrawn from our Wells Fargo account but I was told it could not be electronically put back into that account?). As of today, 8/24, we still have not received the refund check.

I called to confirm, once again, that they have the correct address, was told the check would have gone out "around" the 7th (not able to tell me exactly when) and we resolved the issue by supposedly voiding that check and leaving the funds there to apply to our next mortgage payment, which was what they wanted initially.

Customer friendly? I don't think so...definitely not a friend of Senior Citizens!!

Too many hoops

I feel as if I have been treated like trash from the begining. First I used cash to open the account and was told I was not going to receve a card untill my first pay check came to the account.

(I was annoyed). I also had to apply for online banking even though most accounts come with this and I thought it was weird I applyed. After being apporved found out the website sucks and the app is like their site only with even less information.(wishing I chose another bank at this point) I was also told that I would have to apply for overdraft protection, something that I like having on my accounts just in case anything comes up. It was supposed to take 30 days for this.

So I apply. Wait my 30 days. I get an approval email and think great. I didnt really trust this bank at this point.

Mostly considering every concern I had about anything was met with annoyance and a sour attitude, so I decided to test out the overdraft protection. Long story short it doesnt go threw. Not only does it not go threw they charge me for not letting it go threw. When I called about it they told me that there overdraft protection charges if they pay it or not.

Just for having something try to go threw there is a charge. I told her that I found that ridiculous and would be closing my account her reaction was "great". Ok cool.

Im so thankful that I did not decide to use this bank when I was a single mom. This is not a bank that you can count on.

I tried

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was looking for a bank and thought I would give First Security Bank a try. I cruised over to their website and ended up with more questions than answers.

I used their form to contact customer service, I spelled out the questions I had and was waiting for a reply

Very quickly! I got that reply, it was: Contact us by phone or go to a bank to get answers. Those customer service departments can help you.... Then why offer the ability for me to email in questions? Why do I have to take time in to call you when I already provided you my phone number? Why do I have to take time to go to a bank?

That told me enough about their customer service.... I will look somewhere else.

I hope they achieved what they wanted by not earning my business.

Buyer Be Ware!

I financed some fencing at no interest if paid with one year. I budgeted to be able to make $3500 payments per month to pay it off - long before the year.

On the last payment I asked for a final payment amount - which I paid. The system said my balance was zero. Two weeks later I received a letter in the mail telling my I owed more money - apparently a cost that the bank incurs from the FCC. ?

I called them to appeal and they refused. This is called nickel and diming customers!!! I would NOT recommend 1st Security Bank to

ANYONE!!!!!!

Read the fine print if you do use them !!!!!!! This is a Bank who does not value their customers apparently !!!

We experienced the exact same thing! We believe they bank on the consumer not noticing the hidden fees buried in the fine print.

For months we thought our loan was paid off, but we ran a credit check and it showed we still owed $9. Called 1st Security Bank for an explanation, and they said we owed $109. Went on to say, "read your contract" and that you must pay a $99 fee to close out the loan. Had we not ran our credit report, interest would keep accruing.

Be sure to get written proof to show you pay off the loan. I say this because they use delay tactics for this too.

Very unscrupulous company. We will never ever do business with them.

They will hold your check and bounce all your bills so they can charge you 30 dollars overdraft for bill while hold you paycheck

I felt unimportant/unappreciated

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

So i bank with first security in Jonesboro and have gotten great service until i decided to buy a house. I was qualified for a 150,000 and i guess thats not enough to feel appreciated.

I felt like the lender was short, unconcerned, not personable and just unhelpful. I actually hated talking to her and had to use our realtor as a mediator. This is my first time buying a home and i left with just as much information/knowledge as i walked in with, except for the knowledge of what documents to have. The only time i felt this woman was sincere or actually gave a *** was when she referred me some where else, when she could have clearly did that in the beginning.

This left me not wanting to ever bank with them again, but again everyone else i have came in contact with have been great.

Except for Mrs. K.I I work in customers service and hope i never make one of my patients/customers feel the way I allowed her to make me feel.

First Security Bank is the worst bank I have ever used

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

One thing that I require from a bank is a reliable debit card. Even though my current debit card wasn't supposed to expire for another 10 months, they cancelled it and sent me another card. There weren't any fraudulent transactions on my account or anything; they just decided one day to send me a new card, 10 months prior to the expiration date on my current card. One day I find that my debit card is being declined, and I find this piece of mail with a new one. It's not even a new chip card -- it's exactly the same as my old card but with a new number.

They've sent me new cards before (when the old card was expiring), but the new cards always used the same PIN. When I tried to use my normal PIN with this new card, I got a "wrong PIN" message. Baffled, I tried my PIN a couple more times and then I got a "PIN tries exceeded" message. There is no way to reset your PIN online, so you have to visit the bank during business hours.

I eventually found another mail piece with a new PIN in it. Why? I didn't ask to have my PIN changed, and I'll have trouble remembering a new one. The earlier mail piece with the new card didn't say anything about a new PIN. It would have been helpful if the letter that came with the new card had warned me to watch out for a separate mail piece with a new PIN in it.

It sucks to have your debit card unexpectedly declined even though you have money in your account and the card is supposed to be good for another 10 months. This bank is a pain in the ***.

You call the number on the back of the card and you can reset your pin that way. They have done the same to me, but have always sent me a letter explaining why.
