First Savings Mortgage Corporation - Beware

Our experience with First Savings (Tysons Corner/Mclean, VA) was deplorable. We didn't even need an application at the time since we were building new, just needed a financial eligibility letter for the contract.

Without even telling us that she was going to send us anything yet, the First Savings broker, Kris Hunnicut, sent us a populated mortgage application, complete with ALL of our personal protected information (SSN, DOB, net worth, past residences, etc) via unprotected, unencrypted email, and even worse, she cc'ed my husband, only she used the WRONG EMAIL ADDRESS for him, thus sending all of our information to a complete stranger.

We are now in Experian/credit card cancellation/bank account changing/identity theft protection chaos during what is aready a stressful time, building a new house and prepping our old house for sale (and all this with two small children). Additionally, First Savings was less than helpful in making things right for us and we have since moved on to another company, one that uses a protected website for morgage applications.

Bad Fist Savings Mortgage Corp. McLean, VA

On April 24, 2007 a fire destroyed my house at 43657 Pierpoint Terrace, Leesburrg, VA.. The attached property owned by First Savings Mortgage Corp. also burned. The damage to both units was extensive.

For the next 4 months I begged, pleaded and conjoled the bank to begin restoration. The bank carried no property insurance for this location. The Lansdowne home owners association by laws & covenents require that restoration begins within 90 days. While I began demolition and restoration withn 90 days, the bank did not begin untill Nov. 2nd....192 days later.

This delay caused further damage due to the extended time of exposure to the elements and my home had to be completely demolished. Also, due to their delay, I had to install their portion of the common fire wall so I could procede with renovations. This cost my an additional $8,700.00 that was paid by me on Dec. 26th.

Thus far, as required by the by-laws, First Savings Martgage has refused to reimburse me. This is not a reputable bank. I m suing them for the intial amount of the replacement wall + 5.5% interest and attourney fees. We will go to court in late June and July and we will prevail.

However, with their behavior in mind, I would surely and seriously rethink doing any business with them. They are not a good corporation. We now hope to be in our house by the end of May, no thanks to them. The rebuild process should have taken 8 months, not 13!
