Never responded to me and manager still works there

Original review updated Jul 13, 2024

The manager at this location is an unprofessional bigot. I've been residing here for 20 years and during my many visits to the store, manager Johan Ramos tends to follow me around.

My wife and I are a biracial couple, and Mr. Ramos is visibly disturbed by it. When asked to stop following me politely, his responses are abrupt, rude, aggressive, and physically menacing, stating that he is the manager and he can follow me.

He even goes so far as to say I can't come into the store. He is unprofessional and obviously biased.

Preferred solution: Immediate Corrective action

Complaint about manager demeanor and attitude

AI Highlights
  • - A new pricing rule could charge more if you buy five or more ice creams on sale.
  • - Manager spoke loudly and rudely; this was unacceptable.

I have been shopping at the Fine Fare at 136 Lenox Avenue in Harlem for many years (I am 71 years old). Today January 3rd at 4:30, i asked the cashier about a price.

She called the manager about the price.

He came over with an attitude and hurriedly explained the readon for the price. He said the system was new and that is how it rings up now that if you get the ice cream on sale and you get five (they're for my sickly husband) they charge you more if you get more than four. Of course i did not know this.

The cashier then voided them and rang them up at the sale price separately so i could get the sale price. I continued to watch the register to make sure it rang up right.

The manager (an African male) came back over and proceed to loudly in a nasty voice say to me "As i said" and again explained it to me.

I did not ask him for a second explanation and i was not rude loud or nasty to him or the cashier. His behavior was unacceptable. This was my first time sreing him. I don't know if he's new or not, but he should not talk to customers loud, rude and in a nasty voice.

Maybe he needs to be retrained because he had no reason to embarass me as if i were a child. .

Preferred solution: Apology

User's recommendation: Poor customer service by the manager

Unsecured dumpster damages car

AI Highlights
  • - -Dumpster rolled in a storm, damaging my car.
  • - -Manager says Fine Fare will pay after owners return.
  • - -Owners unreachable; manager cites act of God.

During a storm, the Fine Fare Supermarket's unsecured dumpster rolled down and smashed into my car leaving significant damage on the front driver's side door and fender. Speaking face to face with the manager, I was told the damages would be paid for by Fine Fare Supermarket upon the owners ( Eba and Fausto Perez) return.

I have attempted on several occasions to contact them numerous ways to avail. The manager said, "the owners said it was an act of God and will not be assisting in the repairs".

I have pictures of how the dumpster was poorly secured after the incident and not secured at all only days after. I was advised by insurance company to file a suit in small claims court.
