Terrible service

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I picked out some fabric to redo an old love seat that needs work but has sentimental value.
I had to wait 4mos for the fabric to come in which was to be expected as it was during the pandemic. Once it came in, I brought the love seat to them. Two years and 5 months later. They havent touched it.
They dodge our phone calls constantly. We made the 45min drive to Fergus repeatedly. Each time, they gave some BS excuse, said they would call us back in x number of days and never did. Promised deadlines came and went.
The pile of junk on top of the loveseat grew every time we came in. We finally picked it up, in worse condition than we had left it, and had our deposit returned.
We asked for the fabric and they told us it was buried under other fabric and they were too busy to look for it. Clearly, our business wasnt important enough for them.

The owner, Kurt, re-upholstered two armchairs for us, and built a new ottoman, from scratch, to match them. Excellent workmanship in all respects and good value for the money. It took a couple of weeks longer than expected, but was worth the wait. (The free pickup and delivery (Guelph) was a bonus).
Their storefront shop on the main street of Fergus, ON is like something from 1950, but who cares .. the work is fabulous.
If you have old furniture with a *hardwood* frame, it's worth getting it recovered. May not be less costly than buying new ones but will last much longer than the flimsy stuff they make today.

Custom job gone wrong.

This company seems to be a mother-son affair: the son makes and breaks promises, the mother makes excuses for him.
We asked them to quote on a custom job, a couch-chair combo. The son spun us a story, gave a reasonable quote and delivery date.
The price was higher than the quote, the job was MONTHS late-and unsatisfactory. We only asked for ONE feature (a comfortable end for my wife to sit and read) and they blew that.
We requested some reasonable modifications-this was almost a year ago, and no response. Oh, TONS of excuses...no response. First they had to order more fabric, then they had to order more foam...then they didn't know where to put the zipper...
In short, stay well away from these people.

We wanted to keep the business community in Fergus, Ontario alive and strong so we went into this store to see about recovering our well made couch. We should have known by the state of the store as there is unfinished furniture piled up everywhere.
So they picked up our couch and now its been nearly 5 months and what a disaster. They are clearly incompetent. The front had a bulge and there were a few marks on it. When you sat down the cushion just squished right down and you were just sitting on the hard frame.
We asked them to finish it properly and even took the cushion back to their store. They had it for three weeks but nothing was done.
We said we would pay extra above the $1800 but they just put us off. Stay away.

I wanted to get a piece of furniture reupholstered at Fergus Custom Upholstery.
They way underquoted me and the price just kept climbing!
I finally drew the line when my $300 quote turned into $600.
The business owner's mother was an absolute doll and she was so nice about everything, the problem was her son, the new owner of the business. Mom offered to keep the piece in their shop and try to resell it. I didn't care either way if we took it back home or left it with her, but she was insistent, so we left it with her.
Well today the son shows up unannounced at my door with the large piece of furniture!
In the pouring rain no less!>:( He says "It smells"
I know this, we bought it second hand from a smoker and told the mom at the store if at ANY TIME she wanted us to come and get it, to just call and we would be there.
This guy shows up without even calling, on a Sunday afternoon when the dump is closed, so we have to leave it out in the *** rain!
I am PISSED and will not do business with them again, which saddens me as the woman I dealt with was nothing but kind, polite and super helpful.
Her son has A LOT to learn about running a business.
