Rogue Trader - avoid George Hanna / Fenestra Home Improvements at all costs

As per previous review, I have had a nightmare of an experience with George Hanna and his sole-employee company of Fenestra Home Improvements. George undertook a large refurbishment and building extension project for our home providing references / accreditation from CERTASS, UK Trades Confederation, and others. We checked all these accreditation directly in May 2016 before signing contracts and transferring a deposit and VAT for the whole project to his company account. He however cancelled all said accreditations in July 2016 without informing his customers - a time period when we suspect he decided to wrap things up and plan his exit. Over June - September 2016, work was carried out with delays, George however demanded payment to multiple personal bank accounts and cash payments. We noted significant delays and payments for items we had already paid George not going through. When confronted George presented very detailed stories which, foolishly, at the time we believed. He has now disappeared and can not be contacted. As of this point, he owes our project over £40,000 pounds (including the whole of the VAT paid - does this equate to tax fraud as well?). He has also left bounced cheques and unpaid bills of several thousand pounds with sub-contractors. Over the course of the past week, we have been made aware of unpaid contractors, abandoned projects and other disarray caused by George which now seems to be significantly in excess of £100k George Hanna would make an excellent used-car salesman - selling you a pile of junk, packaged as a "safe family vehicle". Do NOT trust this man despite his appearances and the credentials he mentions. We are pursuing George Hanna and Fenestra Home Improvements through legal means and would strongly advise all to stay clear of this *** artist.

Similar experience, man has no morals or sense of decency, karma will take care of him - in the mean time trading standards were made aware of him early 2016 Ref: 1333 ****, so sorry they didn't do anything about him before your above terrible experience.

All the standards certifications and assurances are worth nothing.

Rogue builder

I have had a bad experience with Fenestra ltd, a building company. The director, George Hanna, ageed to do an extension for us but he has vanished with 20k of our money. Never trust this man. I have discovered that he has left a trail of debt behind him. Suppliers unpaid and projects half finished. I am perusing him through the courts but it is unlikely that I will get anything back. DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN!! He comes across as a nice genuine guy. He is not. He is not trustworthy and you should not give him money or agree any works with him. He has behaved disgracefully
