Verified Reviewer |Carbon Damage
I need an assist from one of your bike specialist related to a Felt FR road bike carbon frame.
I purchased a used 56 cm Felt FR Road Bike at a bike swap sponsored by Ski Club Vail late this Spring in Edwards Colorado. I clearly understood that the bike was used and that the carbon was scratched slightly on the bottom bracket, chain stay and down tube from chain wear.
Nevertheless I paid $1005 for the bike.
I figured that I could upgrade some of the components but wanted to make sure the Carbon was structurally sound. I took it to Moon Time Cyclery in Edwards Colorado to inspect the Carbon's integrity. Furthermore, I was told by the long term owner that the Carbon scratches were cosmetic in nature. So I had him upgrade the Scram shifter components, replaced the chain, put in a new cassette for better climbing, etc.
for $750.
Upon completing the upgrade, I took it to The Pro's Closet in Louisville Colorado to see what they would offer me for the bike. They did an x-ray on the frame and said those scratches on the bottom racket, chain stay and down tube were not structurally sound.
I contacted a company Broken Carbon in Boulder Colorado to get a second opinion. That company said they would have to charge me $700 for the Carbon repair and with no warranty.
You can see I am in the hole financially. ($1005 + $750 +$700) Could Felt advise me as to what to do next?
Rater than pay for the $700 repair of the Carbon scratches, would it make more sense to buy an Aluminum frame and discard the damaged frame since I can't afford to buy a new Carbon frame?
Do you buy back and recycle damaged Carbon frames? If not, what type of Aluminum frame would work with the components of the present bike.

Need new rear tire and wheel
I need a new rear wheel. Hub defective.
I tried to call you twice and you hung up on me. I can't give a review since I spoke to no one.
Replacement frame
I called, no answer. Issue is unresolved.
Seems like the wrong number; phone keeps ringing. I just would like to talk to someone about a replacement frame for a used Felt. The bike is perfect, the frame is bent Im told.
Wonder what my options are. Thanks.

You bought it with the intention of doing a few R&R of some mech systems and flipping it (poor choice of terms for a bicycle, sorry) to a dealer for a profit ? No need to scold you ; the first thing you stated is that you knew of the pre-owned (used to us older types) status.
That opens the doors to The Land of Anything Can Happen. I understand through personal experience. (They save me a parking space for my cars there) . The thing that scares me about your job is I know just enough about carbon fiber and fiberglass, plexiglas, lexan and plastic blah blah to reject anything cracked outright.
You can't believe in "I was told".
But I guess you know that. Good luck.
