Defective material

I had my kitchen and bathroom granite and marble countertops purchased and installed from Fandos Marble & Granite on Metro Pkwy in Ft Myers. I spent over $4000 for the work.

A few months after my countertop in my master bathroom was installed I saw a little spot on the edge of the inside by the sink, I thought it might be a piece of toothpaste so I took my fingernail to scrape it off and a small piece about 1/4 inch of the marble flew off. I called Fandos and they said they would have to see the piece so I brought it in, when I first went to the shop the owner asked me what I dropped on the counter and I told him nothing and explained what happened. He said he was very busy and would get someone to my house when he got a chance. A month and 1/2 later I called and asked when someone would come out to look at my countertop he first said they would have to charge me to come out.

Then he finally said he would send someone after he explained to me that he was in this business for over 30 years and that had never happened. Apparently he did not believe me when I told him that a piece flew off after I noticed the little knick in the countertop. So someone came out and they looked at it and I told them what happened, and they told me that that seemed unlikely that what I described would happen to their product and that they would have to charge me to fix it. I said isn't there a warranty on your work he said yes but not for that.

So I told him to forget it, that I saw on utube a fix that took about 2 minutes and maybe I should try that. Why they couldn't take the 2 minutes to fix the little chipped area I have no idea. but they were not willing to help me or correct the problem at all. Also they had put gouges in my walls in the kitchen when installing the countertop.

I never said anything about that to them, I just repainted the areas that they damaged and moved on. Also when they sealed the counters in my guest bathroom there were some little clumps of the sealer on the vanity that dried and hardened on it and I am not sure how to fix that issue.

But now after this experience with them I would not recommend using Fandos Marble and Granite in Ft Myers.. I feel the least they should have done was fixed my small chipped area on my countertop.
