Bought a car, but it stopped working the VERY NEXT DAY. We cancelled the loan for the vehicle, but were denied our $1,000 down-payment. We purchased a car from Family Auto Mart on Thursday 04/05/18. The salesman (Wayne) guaranteed us the 2006 Nissan Murano we were buying was in "great condition" and will "get you back and forth to work". The price on the sticker said "$2,950", but actually came to over $5800 when all was said and done. We signed the papers, paid $1,000 down-payment on our credit card, and drove it home. On the drive home, the "battery" indicator and "check oil" indicator flashed repeatedly on the dash. The next day, while driving to have it washed (something that hadn't been done before it was sold to us), and the engine completely died while driving it down the road. When we finally did get it home (it wouldn't accelerate over 10 mph), we called Family Auto Mart to let them know, as per their own request, "Please call us with ANY issues", though when we did, we were told that anything wrong with the car would be our problem to deal with as they sold it to us "AS-IS". We haven't even made the first payment on this vehicle before it was completely immobile, and non-functional. We contacted the loan company to let them know, and were able to get out of that "deal", but they refuse to refund us our $1,000 down-payment, a payment made in good faith that the car would be a fully functioning vehicle. They were fully aware of the issues with the car before letting it drive off of the lot. It sat in our driveway over the weekend, as no one was available to help from Family Auto over that period of time. We finally had to tow it (at our $50 expense) back to Family Auto after calling the loan company and cancelling it. The business practices used here are questionable, to say the least. The money earned through this company seem to be gained more through fraud than anything else. They defraud their customers by taking their money and selling them clunkers only meant to drive them off of the lot, and not much further. It's also very dangerous to put customers in cars that won't get them down the road safely.
