Buyer BEWARE!!! Had their spa cover for 9 months when the vinyl faded and the foam inside started degrading causing slumping. Owner blames it all on your abuse of their cover. He will tell you used wrong UV protectant or you walked or sat on it. This company tells you about their 30 year integrity but really has none. I have been buying different covers over 20 years. This is the pits. I am from Arizona where the weather is always nice. This company needs a class action suit against them for consumer ripoff. I always thought the customer was right. They say they will work with you but it's gonna cost you more money believe me. Stay Away

My spa cover took 6 weeks to be delivered. Kyle explained that they never guess where a customer wants there tie downs. Apparently common sense is not there strong point. I paid extra for 8 tie downs and they had no idea where I wanted them? SERIOUSLY???? 2 on each side!!!! What the *** did you think I wanted 5 on one side and 1 in the other three side. Ugh sent me an email I didn't get. They deposited my $ and left me waiting a month until I emailed to see what was taking so LONG. Took them another 2 weeks to "Rush" my order. When I followed up with them I felt the customer service was poor and would not except any blame for my delayed order. When inquiring in a Friday, Kyle told me he'd contact me Monday morning regarding my order status.......no surprise No update as stated. I contacted them again on Friday one week later and same rude email Responses. "We've been in business 33 years and quality......" blah blah blah. I don't give a *** how long your name has been used all I care is if you say you're gonna do something do it or shut up. Finally got the cover. Fits perfect. Seams look good. CHEAPEST vinyl I've ever seen or felt. Cheap cheap cheap. I'm screwed! My last cover was 5 years old and the vinyl on it is better after years of wear then this one I just pd $379 for. Took a peek at the "double" wrapping I paid extra for by unzipping the cover. Very thin cheap film. Seriously not even as thick as a frozen vegetable bag I swear. Moisture is already accumulated under the film after only 72 hours of receiving. I sent a photo of it to Kyle who responded that this is normal for misture get through the film. I also question if my cover is double wrapped?? The film is so thin it doesn't appear to be. I'll Never buying from this place again. If the vinyl was good and they actually used quality material to wrap foam I would be a happy camper at the end of this long wait. People making covers do nice work I will say that. It's just sad that they buy cheap material and customer service people have inflated egos.

Factory Direct Sucks!

My 3-year old cover has ripped at the center seam and must now be replaced. They also screwed up the dimensions when i placed the order, but because the cover sort of worked I didn't bother looking to correct their screw up. I'd also say buy elsewhere, since you cannot reach them by telephone or email. So, now this website is *** me off! I wrote my comments but these pinheads say I have to use at least 100 words. We;;, screw that, *** clowns. I write what I want in concise terms and don't need some illiterate swine telling me to use more words! Okay, is that 100 words?

Poor Communication, Doesn't Meet Expectations

We ordered a spa cover after numerous emails with Kyle. It should have been our first clue that they refuse to communicate by phone. All of our calls went unanswered and when we did send emails, we received snotty answers in return. Kyle certainly has no problem talking down to his customers. What we had agreed upon, which was a 5 inch foam cover, magically became 4 inches because they couldn't produce as originally quoted. While we did agree to the change, the cover took way longer to produce than the 2 weeks we were told. We finally received our cover over a month later. When it did arrive, there wasn't enough velcro to secure one piece to another. Once again, we contacted the company and received a smart *** answer, no apologies for the inconvenience, and a few pieces of velcro in the mail to fix our cover. The velcro pieces were very small and weren't nearly enough to fix the issue and the company refuses to correct it properly. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you need a replacement cover! The customer service here is poor at best and you'll save yourself a lot of headache. From what I've read on other reviews, it may not even hold up either.

Spa Cover DO NOT BUY *** *** ***

I purchased there 10 year warranty cover, within 14 months the vinyl on the outside became cracked and badly discolored. I also noticed on the bottom side the cover area which is over the water was discolored as well. When I contacted the first question asked was "Is it discolored on the bottom side?" which I responded yes it is. Sorry sir your warranty is void however for 1/2 your original price we will make you another cover to send due to some bad vinyl they received from our vendor. I bit. Now 14 months later vinyl is just as bad as the first one. My original (not from these idiots) cover lasted 6 years, no bleaching out on bottom side. Excellent cover cost a bit more made overseas unfortunately. I try very hard to buy USA, thats why I went with this douce. They must buy China *** materials. These covers to not hold up. I finally spoke with the owner and he informed my any amount of chemical used with his covers will damage the bottom side and most people don't use chemicals in there spas. If you want cheap and never use chemicals and want to replace you cover annually buy this *** as# cover DO NOT BUY THIS GUYS PRODUCT !!!!!!!!!!! TOTAL SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Factory Direct Spa-Bogus "Warrenty"!!

I purchased a $414.00 spa cover because of the 10 yr warrenty and the cover did not last even 2 years before: A)the stitching came apart completely in multiple areas, B) the foam core became saturated with moisture - to the point that I could can not lift the cover off of the hot tub, C) the color completely faded from Dk Redwood to a multi-color muddy brown and was literally rough instead of smooth since it has degraded so much! I have spa service wkly, but the owner, Roy Kilmer, stated because I use chemicals in my spa instead of "hydrogen Peroxide" some product he preached about for 15 minutes, that I voided the warrenty! I used Baqua Spa and what the *** does he think people are going to use in their spas!!! Chorine and Baqua are normal use products for spa care, but them he tried to tell me I usse too much! I told him I strip check wkly and the levels are right on and even he commented on how clear my water was when he opened the cover!!! I told him I've had spas for 20 yrs and the covers usually last for 5 yrs. I bought from him for his promise of "10 yrs" and it looked like *** after one yr and the day they delivered it I said the vinyl looked thin and cheap! He offered to recover it for $150.00 with more of his cheap garbage and refused to honor his so called warrenty. I said what does your warrenty cover and he said only workmanship-like if the seams come out. I said them seams are coming out, but he countered with the fact that sun damaged the cover. Well, what the heck did you think it was going to be inside! I live near the beach at 70 degrees almost year round and fog!He is a real scammer so BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the same thing I went through, only he told me he had gotten some bad vinyl and for 1/2 price he would make me a new cover because I used bromine in my spa which voids the warranty. Total ***

Poor telephone support

I recently purchased a spa cover and was contacted on 6/26 2013 by a local delivery company who promised delivery the following day. Since the item has not been received and I have heard nothing further from the delivery folks, I called Factory Direct Spa Covers regarding a delivery date. I was immediately, and involuntarily, routed to a call center that was promoting a "free 2 night Bahama cruise", which held no interest for me. I was never able to reach the company and was summarily disconnected. A return call resulted in a similar outcome. This type of deception bespeaks volumes about a company's ethics and business practices and I would be very wary about dealing with them.

Poor Quality and Bogas Warranty - Avoid

On 3-2-2008 we ordered "Factory Direct Spa Cover" best cover - with a 10 year warranty. This cover did not last even 2 years before 1) the stitching came apart completely on two sides 2) the foam core became saturated with moisture - to the point that one person can not lift the cover off of the hot tub, and 3) the color completely faded from burgundy to a muddy brown . My husband talked with the owner, Roy Kilmer. He explained the above problems and Mr. Kilmer told him that because we used chlorine (or bromide) in our hot tub we invalidated the 10 year warranty. Folks, we are using a floating Bromine - Chlorine feeder so there is no abuse of chemicals (neither have any chemical come in contact with the cover) but any use of chlorine invalidates the warranty. Think about it... can you have a hot tub and not use chemicals... what rip off! Then Mr. Kilmer told my husband that we would have to send $210 to get a replacement. What another shoddy cover from this shyster? Be Aware - Avoid this fraudulent business.

At Factory Direct Spa Covers we take customer service very seriously. We understand it can be frustrating to address Warranty issues and the majority of our 100,000+ customers understand they are responsible for adhering to the terms of the Warranty. We are proud to have been in business for over 30 years making Spa Covers with less than 1% warranty return requests.

Just to clarify the details in this review. The customer paid $369 for our Heavy Duty Cover in March 2008. When he contacted us almost 4 years later he admitted that he used a floating chemical dispenser that is meant for pools. The problem is that using pool floaters in a covered hot tub causes chemical gasses to build up which burns the bottom vinyl and degrades the vapor barrier that keeps the foam from becoming waterlogged. Not to mention how it affects your health! Which is why we recommend and only warranty for chemicals used correctly.

However, we agreed to make an exception and replace all but the chemically damaged portion of the cover at our cost, despite the fact that the use of improper chemicals violates our Warranty.(Just like ALL Cover Manufacturers exclude Chemical Damage and Shipping Costs from their Warranty). We strongly encourage our customers to read our warranty and our competitors.

We agreed to replace both the top vinyl and the foam inserts at our cost. The ONLY cost we could not agree to accept was for the bottom that was damaged by the improper chemical use and the cost for shipping. We agreed to charge only $85 to replace the bottom portion. The bulk of the cost is for shipping which is $125. We also offered to let the customer arrange and pay for shipping on their own. Even though we agreed to accept more responsibility than we were obligated to do, it seems that nothing other than giving them a brand new cover at our cost is going to satisfy this customer. Which is something no cover manufacturer would do. Since we cannot satisfy everyone, in this case we will have to settle for 99% satisfied customers.

Do not use factory Direct SPA Covers. I bought a cover from them in 2007 with a 10 year warranty and they will not return my emails. The cover has bubbled and is no longer the color gray, now it is brown and staining the deck and steps. I sent them pictures of the damage and have gotten no response. This is the first time I have had a cover fail like this. The company web site is hottub-covers.com. I will no I order from them again and I hope this input helps others from making the same mistake that I did.

I've ordered (3) spa covers from Factory Direct Spa Covers in the last 24 years. They're great.

The covers last and the folks there are responsive and knowledgeable. Sometimes I think web sites like these are used by the competitors to attack.

Bla ... Bla ...

Bla .. Stop crying about the condition of the "cheap" spa cover you bought on line.

You could have purchased the quality cover at your local spa dealer, but you want a cheap price. Sounds like you got what you paid for...

Robert,

FDSC has produced quality spa covers since 1988, both wholesale and to the end user. This unfortunate situation occurred when the company was mismanaged. Your insensitive comments are uncalled for and disturbing.

I ordered a spa cover and cover keeper. I received the cover but no keeper (lifter). They only have a voice mail with no people and all mailboxes are full.

We will contest their CC amount.
