Scam, yes, scam
Bought some make-up products from Sample Beauty (& Beauty Bay). I received several email from EzClear from the 31st May that asks me for a fee of $16, but the total of my products is only $30.
The email has all my personal info SB have confirmed in their email that EzClear is indeed the agent of their courrier, and they asked me to pay the fees.
However, I have called Post Canada 2 times, EzClear has nothing to do with them. They haven't heard of it, there is absolutely no handling/admin/custom fee, none. The item is already with Post Canada and cannot be handled by another individual or company.
Post Canada said my package will soon arrive in the following days.
THEY ARE SCAMMERS. DO NOT believe SB or EzClear.
20$ charge for a 22$ clothing item.
Ordered from Missguided. A clothing item worth 22$. Got charged 19.45$ for duties, fees, and taxes with EZclear.
Last time I use a store who uses this company to clear customs.
Self clearing experience
all the staff I was in contact with were quick to reply and helpful.
I have to say that my experience was lovely and I ended up self clearing. Ezclear did get the customs and duties calculated incorrectly as when I self cleared, CSBD only charged half that amount.
Scam artists pretending to be a business
They made a false declaration to inflate the value and justify excessive "admin fees"
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
Fraudulent Company
Received an email in my junk folder from EZ Clear stating I had to pay my duties (understandable). However, being that it was in my junk I knew something fishy was going on.
Did some research and saw many many people had similar issues with EZ Clear over charging and holding packages "hostage" until they paid. Requested through an email that they send the paperwork so I can go to the CBSA office and self clear. Finally the paperwork arrives and I head to the CBSA office... only to be told by the officer that I have the WRONG paperwork.
EZ Clear sent me 4 documents - 2 were associated with a Mr. Chiu in Toronto and his package, 1 corresponded to someone else's package in British Columbia, and lastly the last document pertained to my package. CBSA couldn't clear my package without the right information. I left there extremely annoyed and sent an email immediately for someone to send the right paper work.
I also immediately went online at trustpilot.com and wrote my HONEST review of the experience I had with EZ Clear. There was similar negative reviews about them online. The next day I receive 2 phone calls from them demanding to know why I called them frauds (uh.. because they are!).
They also reported my review and all the other negative reviews in order to get them taken down. Now when they are googled only positive things come up about them which is a bunch of cr*p!
I continued emailing them for the proper paperwork and was passed off to another employee who proceeded to get mad at me (like a child) in an email all because I wrote an honest review of them. Finally had my order from Missguided cancelled and returned to them and didn't pay a single thing.
SCAMMERS
First received an email from them which arrived to my junk mail rather than my direct inbox because that is exactly what it is - JUNK! Email stated I owed roughly $40 in duties (or so that’s what they “calculated”).
Did my research and had everything set up with the to self clear my package. When they sent the documents to me suddenly the duties calculated now were only $19... funny how that changed. And to see the nerve of the company to reply to reviews online saying that they don’t calculate it but it is the government who calculates it.
Liars.
How come they charged me $40 and the government paperwork only charged me $19? Oh ya that’s because they are scammers!
DO NOT PAY EZ CLEAR, SELF CLEAR YOUR OWN PACKAGE.
What a bunch of scammers. This is a courier service that several international companies use to import goods into Canada.
I had the misfortune of dealing with them after ordering 4 dresses from UK based company MissGuided. Customs fees are not a new concept for me, I often order internationally and have ALWAYS paid my charges at the time of delivery or the post office. I received an email from EzClear stating they have my package. First of all, their emails are completely misleading you into thinking you HAVE to pay THEM, when really your fees are owed to the CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency).
They were charging me $39.08 for import fees, custom fees and a brokerage fee, plus tax. My order from Missguided was $69.48. Naturally, I thought these fees were outrageous and decided to call EZClear to complain. I spoke to Maricel Mendoza, and said I would not pay them.
She informed me that I could "self clear" my package in person at the CBSA Office. Out of principle, I did just that and now am VERY happy I did. The actual fees owed to the CBSA were a measly $8.33. Let that sink in.
This company preys on people who are unable to complain, people who desperately want their package or are ignorant to what custom fees should look like. I shutter at the thought of how many have handed their hard earned money to this leech of a company. I extensively complained to MissGuided about them and hope they will stop using EzClear.
Why companies choose to use this courier, I don't know. Maybe they are cheaper than other courier services but this comes at a cost to their valuable customers
EZ Fraud
Firstly I’d like to direct everyone’s attentions to the reviews below for detailed instruction on how to clear your own package without paying the absurd brokerage fees. Also, email the international store’s customer service representative!
Because this EZclear scam/company is fairly new, the companies are not yet aware that their packages are being intercepted and essentially held hostage for exorbitant fees. I reached out to the company that I purchased items for and after showing them these reviews among others they indicated that they will be looking for other couriers. The best way to express your dissatisfaction is not only to write reviews but also to contact the Store directly and warn them what is going on. Now the review itself: because this company is relatively new, the major clothing/item distributers in the UK are not aware of what is going on.
Packages that previously were delivered directly are now being intercepted and held hostages for gross fees. My goods cost roughly 40 dollars and there were $22 worth of brokerage costs associated with getting it released. Because I work regular hours I could not go to the Border Services office myself and had to pay the ransom (luckily the distributer refunded me the cost – see instruction above) Once this was paid EZCLEAR messed up again and sent the package over land instead of over air (which was promised) making a simple delivery take over a month in grand total. What a disgusting predatory service which offers zero instruction in the original email as to how to reach out to border services.
Borderline incompetent. I will be placing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Ontario and I advise you to do the same.

You saved my buns! thank you so much!
I just got an email from them as well!
really convincing and legit looking! but also fishy because usually canada post tells you direct if you owe duties on packages.
