Recommending Unnecessary Work For Profit!
I recently had an encounter at Evans Tire on Convoy Street that left me feeling uneasy and compelled to share my insights. There seemed to be a noticeable shift in their approach, veering towards persuasive tactics that suggested services and products beyond what seemed necessary.
On one occasion, I was explicitly recommended to delay my visit due to the absence of a more experienced mechanic, a suggestion that came directly from Mike. This struck me as undermining my confidence in their team's overall capability.
Additionally, the pricing structure appeared markedly inflated. When expressing my knowledge of automotive care or questioning the necessity of recommended work, the response was unexpectedly dismissive and, at times, outright rude. This is a stark contrast to my previous experiences, having entrusted them with my vehicle's care over the years, amounting to significant expenditure on my part.
Regrettably, it appears that the ethos of the establishment has evolved.
Where once I felt assured of their integrity and commitment to genuine service, there now seems to be a pivot towards exploiting the lack of automotive understanding among their clientele, aggressively upselling and capitalizing on the trust of unwary customers.
This transformation is deeply disheartening, particularly given my long-standing relationship with them. I highly suggest looking elsewhere for automotive services, to avoid potential disappointment and unnecessary expenditure

Still not resolved. They are obviously cowards who don't want to face the truth and assume any responsibility. And especially even when they are responsible for the injury both financially and physically for the damage done by their mechanics.
If you get lied too and bad repairs done don't return to this place. They promise to rectify the problem but just sabotage your vehicle even more after you give bad reviews.
There vengeance can cost other human beings life. They should be prosecuted and fined and sent to jail.Dont do business with evans tire and sue them at first chance you get. Un reliable.

I had one of the worst service experiences in my life at Evan Tires. On my way to a meeting, I blew a tire.
I barely was able to drive to Evan Tires on 1569 First Ave San Diego CA. When I arrived, I was immediately told I needed to replace all 4 tires because my car is all-wheel drive. This is the first I've heard of this, after owning my car a couple of years. The attendant insisted and said they would not replace the tire, unless I got 4.
Then he proceeded without using any tools to tell me my treads on all my tires were bad.
I think they assumed I was desperate, and they could take advantage of me. I ended up needing to tow my car to Discount Tires. Discount explained the manufacturer may recommend 4 tires, but it's just a recommendation as a consumer it's my choice. I should never be forced into anything unless the tires are truly unsafe.
They used a hand held tool and found my treads would be good for some time. They replaced my tire in 30 minutes, although they had a line as they felt so bad about my poor treatment at Evans.
The whole experience was eye opening on how Evans Tires conducts business. I was patronized and disrespected because a poor performing tire shop wants some sales. As I waited for my tow over an hour on that lot.
I saw 5-7 people doing nothing but twiddle thumbs and hangout. I knew I was at a very low performing location that lacked leadership.

Im a 12+ year customer. The one thing Im going to say right away is BRING JJ BACK!!!
Never did I have an issue at this location when JJ was the Manager here, the new Manager who took over and is now in maternity leave is also a great Manager and never had issues with her either. Heres my story
I dropped my vehicle off on Tuesday, October 4th at 7:30 AM, I was the very first person in line and the very first person to get helped. I was assisted by a short built, light skin, Mexican guy with tattoos all over his arms. He promised that my car would be ready at the end of the day.
Dropped my car off for an oil change, tire, rotation, tire balance and alignment. I specifically told the guy that I was dropping it off early so that I can have it back at the end of the day, because I was tired that every time I would drop my vehicle off before, they would call me right before they close to tell me they need to keep it overnight.
On Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 6:30 PM. The same guy called me to tell me he was working on my car himself and that he was almost done and was going to have it ready tonight. I told the guy DO NOT rush the work, do it right and Ill pick it up tomorrow.
He replied by saying, OK, thank you, come pick it up first thing in the morning when we open, it will be ready. On October 5, 2022, I was not able to pick up the vehicle when they first opened because I was hold up in meetings at work. I called at 10:30 AM on October 5, 2022 and the car was still not done. The same guy told me that the drain plug was not able to come out and that he didnt want to start the oil change until the replacement drain cap came in (which he now had) and that he was going to have the vehicle ready by 2pm.
**Please note that on October 4, 2022 on my 6:30 PM call he told me the oil change was done**.
I showed up at 2pm on October 5, 2022 to pick up the vehicle and the lady Sharey or Sheryl or whatever her name is, told me NOTHING was done to the car.
1. This employee (who should be fired) lied to me several times about my car being done
2. This lady had his back and altered the paperwork saying I refused service, really? I DID NOT.
They did this to cover their backs
3. So obvious, really obvious some shiity things are going on with these two and the Manager. Look at my photos and see ALL the complaints, repetitive patterns and the Manager is not doing anything. As a Marine and former Law Enforcement employee, I can 110% see how these people are lying to customers to lure them in so the location can make their sales goals.but doesnt take a genius to figure this out.
They need to be investigated and I will make sure and do everything in my power to make sure this location gets investigated.
NEVER in my Military career had anyone lie to me like that.
My next reviews will be the BBB, Twitter, Facebook and everything I can find and will escalate as needed. I hate to see people get used and I WILL NOT stand on the sidelines.

Verified Reviewer |Sold me an alignment when the car needed suspension work
I took my car in for 4 tires and alignment ($129) the guy called me to tell me that the car needed the lower control arms and gave me an estimate of $1,200 extra for the work, I declined the work and asked if we should hold off on the alignment, and he said no, "it needs to be done, so the steering wheel is straight" and said that when I took it back for the work he would align it at no charge. Well, I was not going to take the car back to them for that much, so I asked if I had the work done somewhere else if they would still align it, and he said "no". So here I am with 4 new tires, charged for an alignment that I did not have to have done since the car needed work that would require an alignment.
Because no one should be treated like this
Absolutely nothing!
Apparently they (Evans tire) doesn't want my business. And honestly, even if I did get a response, I wouldn't have given it to them anyway. Not after being treated and spoken to the first time.

Evans Tire And Service Centers - Manager Review
went tho evans on 4-18-18 for new tires and an alignment paid almost $700 ( i do have my credit card receipt) but the alignment was not done right and i had to have correct alignment done on 4-26-18. So i called corporate ALL DAY requesting a refund of the alignment fund only --corporate NEVER CALLED ME.
have receipt from 2nd alignment company which did and excellent job. well i returned to the store on 4-27-18 and ask for the 59.95 again and the RACIST BULLY MGR carl put the car on the rack and saw it was done and then things got ugly; he screamed at me in the lobby in the prescence of 3 white customers, that i had no right to have the suspension rebuilt and new struts put on and for me to get my {{REDACTED}}(MY SON IS SEVERELY DISABLED AND HE WAS TERRIBLY FRIGHTENED)
{{REDACTED}} out of his store and that I stole those tires from him and that I am a liar; he is so stupid--if my credit card was NO GOOD it would have been declined right there on the spot. pres. and ceo john andonian is a real joke never called ;as are the people in the corporate office.
SO RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM EVANS TIRE IN FACT JUST DO NOT EVEN GO THERE DO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
AFTER ALL THERE IS NO POSITIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE THERE. bully carl says he has corporate wrapped around his finger and he runs things.
