I opened an account with them approximately a year and a half ago with $100 deposit I've been trying to get my money back for about a year now because they close to my account that was all they're doing I was very busy when I opened it apparently I was supposed to verify to small deposits under a dollar made in my account by them to verify the account was mine and I forgot to do it and six months later or so I got a letter saying my account was closed I've been trying to get my $100 back ever since I've jumped through so many hoops and spend so much time on hold it's ridiculous now some *** named hungan is telling me they're not giving me my money back at all they've denied my claim and he refuses also to give me a supervisor they might as well have a mask and a freaking gun they are feeds if they close my account because of that they should have immediately refunded my money I have wasted probably 30 hours at least of my time trying to get this $100 they are the worst company I've ever dealt with I'm going to sue them and report them to everybody I can think of including the federal trade commission better business bureau attorney general anybody else I can think of they suck *** do not do business with these thieves do not deal with these thieves

I was very busy I forgot I even opened the account and I did not verify the deposits they made in my bank account that were under $100 6 months later I got a letter informing me my account was closed so for over a year now I've been trying everything I can to get my money back I have probably spent 35 to 45 hours at least on hold and submitting letters and statements and copies of my driver's license and my social security card through their secured website and I emailed them to their overnight address and still I have gotten nowhere as far as getting my $100 initial deposit back from them today I was told to buy some *** named hung nagin that they are not going to return it they have denied all my appeals for getting my money back and they are keeping it according to this a*****and he refused to give me a supervisor as well these jerk offs might as well have masks and guns it's straight up robbery he closed my account then you send my money back do not give these thieves your money do not trust them

Verified ReviewerE*Trade Will Take Your Money
E*Trade froze my 3 accounts due to "unusual activity." I was told
the unusual activity was me depositing my employer's check
and that in order to unfreeze my accounts I would need to
submit a letter of intent along with a picture ID. I did what they
wanted but it wasn't good enough.
Then I was told that I
needed to submit proof that the check has funds. I can't do that
because I'm not my employer's bank, so they told me to submit
proof that I had earned the amount on the check. I did what
they wanted but it wasn't good enough. Then I was told that I
needed to submit proof that I earned the amounts of all of my
employer's checks deposited.
Additionally, I would need to
submit proof that E*Trade itself transferred my Roth IRA and the
money in my individual trading account from my previous
broker. I submitted everything they asked for.
Still not good enough. E*Trade has frozen and closed my
accounts and have stolen everything I entrusted them. I should have read the reviews and complaints on the BBB website.
If anyone has experienced something like this, please file a complaint against E*Trade with FINRA. I'm still fighting to get my money back.

Horrible customer service

Terrible customer service ... just waited over an hour to speak with someone - this was the 4th call-in needed just trying to get ETrade to process the instructions that had to be sent in in hardcopy

Call waiting time ridiculous
The company informed me (by email, not phone call) of placing a restriction on my account "due to suspicious activity" (no details offered). The restriction prevents any sort of money withdrawal from the account, including for stock or other purchases, but allows money deposits at any amount (!) The only way to remove the restriction is to call a phone number provided (no online secure communication available).
Having called the number several times and waited for hours without a response, my conclusion is that the company is holding my funds hostage without providing any explanation or solution. E*TRADE used to be a passably good company before the advent of no-fee trading and recently, the Mortan-Stanly take-over and the bear market. But now it is resorting to vile tactics to withhold customer funds.
Does not qualify as a broker anymore. Pondering legal action or account transfer if not able to communicate.
