Scam Not Paid For Completing Survey

Original review updated Apr 26, 2025

I received a postcard in the mail inviting me to participate in a travel survey in which I downloaded an app to my phone. The app tracked my car trips each day for several days.

At the end of the survey, I answered a set of questions. I was promised compensation of $20 in the form of an egift card upon completing the survey. I was given a link to a page where I could select a store of my choice for the gift card. I chose Walmart.

I was then given a set of numbers and a PIN to use the gift card. When trying to use the gift card, the Walmart store would not accept it without a barcode. They told me this twice on visits to the store. The corporate office also told me the egift card is no good without a barcode.

They cannot just enter numbers to honor it. After almost a month of emails to the survey representative and the company who issued the egift card the issue is still not resolved. They claim that I don't need a barcode and Walmart is claiming that I do need one. Walmart said if they just enter numbers in the system, it could be codes from someone trying to break into their system.

I have wasted my time doing this survey and received nothing but a set of useless numbers. This survey is a SCAM.
