Episcopal Community Services Of San Francisco
Next Door Director *Singled Out*
I am a social worker that volunteers with the Homeless of San Francisco and am familiar with the many shelters in the city. As a privately-owned shelter they do not follow their own rules for shelter guests.
As a church they do not practice what they preach - the staff are racist and after you have been assigned to bed for over 30 days they find every excuse to kick you out - you get 3 strikes before getting kicked out back on the streets. Next Door has a power hungry control freak of a Director. The Director abuses her power and makes threats to kick out anyone she doesn't like -with false reasons - before their 90-120 day bed reservation is up. It's obvious that they encourage foul attitudes, violence, drug abuse for the mentally unstable, and anyone that has a true potential to find work, has a job, or could qualify for an SRO with-in 90-120 days are on TOP of their harassment "3 strikes and you're OUT" - list.
This Director harasses the guests without any reasons other than she does not like you, and wants to free up a bed. You're a slave to keep ridiculous curfews and mid-day check-in hours everyday with no flexibility to go out and work, hold a job, or have any healthy social life outside of the people you live with. Basically you are a slave, a prisoner being punished for having a disability or being homeless. Is this what the Episcopal Church is about?
IS this Jesus? The Director "Diana" uses nick-names for the homeless at the shelter - she verbally abuses the homeless with sub-human nic-names that should not be repeated out-loud. I have heard many complaints about "Diana" and her verbal abuse and mis-treatment from my clients with the City & County.
If this is how the church falsifies the funds that the City and County gives these shelters - WHERE are the funds going? and once again WHERE is JESUS in this system?
- Abusive staff
Preferred solution: cut funding to these shelter prisons. fire power hungry greedy director.
