Billing Style Changes

AI Highlights
  • - Entergy Texas changed billing to a month behind schedule.
  • - This impacts Social Security recipients who budget around fixed check dates.

Without warning, Entergy Texas changed my billing style. Now they bill like for Apria the last of May or for May, the last of June.

In other words, they are billing a month behind.

This sure makes it bad for people who receive Social Security. Our checks are deposited on a certain date and we have our budget already set to pay certain bills at at certai certain

Preferred solution: Have my payments come out like they used to.

User's recommendation: Complain when they change things

When will power be restored

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - 59,000 residential customers lost power due to equipment failures requiring repairs.
  • - Outage map shows Conroe, Willis and Huntsville stayed on.

Why were the rolling outages not rolled. If the 59,000 residential customers in the Conroe area lost power due to equipment failures requiring repairs, it would have been much better to make a direct statement to that effect. It was very clear looking at the myEntery outage map the center of Conroe, Willis and Huntsville were kept on.Again no explanation to your customers.

User's recommendation: Be more straight forward.

Line from pole

AI Highlights
  • - Line from the pole to my burned home should have been disconnected by Oct 2.
  • - There is no meter and I cannot rebuild until the demolition is completed.

House burned down. The line from your pole to my burned down home was to be disconnected on October 2nd.

The order is wrong for meter removal. There is no meter. I can not rebuild until I can demo. Get your line off my home like yesterday.

Don't use the storms as an excuse.

Job was to be done on the 2nd of October. I have called twice and the demo company has called 3 times.

Greedy Utility Company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Entergy added a charge to cover storm repair costs.
  • - There is a $10 charge for billing, handling, and postage.
  • - I pay online and manage my own bill.

First Entergy slipped in a charge for everyone to pay their repair costs to their electric lines caused by storm damage. Now there is a whopping 10.00 customer charge just for billing and handling and postage.

I pay my bill online. I handle my own bill with no one's help. This is outrageous!

It's robbery and fraudulent. I am very very sick and tired of this companie's under-minding hard working Americans.

Cons:
  • Cheating and inconsistent billing practices

Preferred solution: Price reduction

High Bill and no help!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Can't switch providers; Entergy is in a Co-Op.
  • - Bills reach $650, no balance billing offered, seeks lower bills and provider change.

I want to change providers but because Entergy is in a Co-Op program I cant....I'm sorry but an electric bill as High as 650.00 for the month is extremely too much...that's more than my rent. Why cant ya'll lower people's bill?

I understand yes we has cold freezes but come on at the end of the day y'all do this because you do not have to participate in Power to Choose. You did not offer a balance bill or anything just pay this high bill and that's it. November 2017 $400.00 December 2017 $500.00 January 2018 $650.00 February 201* 365.00. Where is the customer service where is the compassion no discounts no nothing.

I want a new service provider and one that will accommodate my needs and budget. Give me a better rate or something!

Resolved: Monthly bill more than tripled without warning!

AI Highlights
  • - July bill tripled with no warning.
  • - No alerts by text, email, or mail.
  • - Two-month average deposit is about $500.
Updated by user Jul 07, 2017

Details added already, 2 month deposit fee was waived. Life expectancy probably lowered due to extreme stress this has caused me though.

Updated by user Jul 07, 2017

I just received a call from Michelle at Entergy, notifying me that after reviewing my long account history with them they were going to wave the deposit fee they had added to my current bill. So...

sure wish they'd led with that idea when I 1st called them about it earlier this week! I've probably lost a good week from my lifespan so severely stressed out about this issue, and I don't feel like a "valued customer" by any means. I would prefer to have the choice of a different electricity provider, I feel trapped and at the mercy of Entergy here and that isn't right.

Consumers should have choices when it comes to anything we have to purchase to live. :-|

Original review Jul 07, 2017

Though Entergy has never lost a single penny on my account in the 21 years I've owned my home under their monopoly, my July bill I just received is more than triple my normal bill amount without warning. I last logged into their web site and paid my June bill on the 23rd of June and there was nothing to indicate this was coming!

No txt message to my phone, no e-mail to my inbox, no snail mail either.... so yeah this has me floored! I have owned my home in Liberty County Texas since 1994, and not once has Entergy ever lost a penny I've paid for every kW of their power I've ever used. Now Entergy is suddenly demanding I give them a 2 month average bill amount deposit for them to continue selling me electricity on top of my normal bill this month.

That's almost $500 total (normal bill is $150 plus/minus change)! Guess what that does to my already stressed monthly budget? (ps. I'm owed A LOT of money right now I've been having trouble collecting I do not deny that times have been difficult.) On the other hand, I have lost money due to Entergy disconnecting my power a few years ago without warning so they could perform routine maintenance on their equipment at another property next door to mine!

My power was intentionally switched off for hours that day without any notice or warning at all. It was just routine maintenance to a power pole, they could have given me some kind of heads-up! So if I had the power to choose an electricity provider, Entergy would NOT be my choice! Electricity is not a luxury item, it is a requirement for LIFE!

If you want to disagree with me, first try living in the dark in a 120+ degree house in 100% humidity for a few weeks with no water no food no way to generate income. Watch as the black mold starts growing EVERYWHERE and you find you are suffocating due to the heat and mold spores everywhere! Electricity is NOT a luxury item and that's a fact! Does someone have to die before there are changes made to the laws to protect consumers?

I don't mind paying for every kW of power I use, that's not what my complaint here is about at all, and apparently I'm not alone on this so don't even go there! Every Entergy complaint I've read so far, the customer was making every effort to pay for their electricity usage not a single complaint listed here was demanding Entergy give them free electricity! So why do we allow monopoly electric utility providers like Entergy to have this kind of power over our lives? Why isn't there an electricity consumer's bill of rights as regards these monopoly companies?

The laws as I'm reading them in Texas appear to be totally 1 sided, on the electric company's side exclusively! If a grocery store (for example) treated it's customers so poorly, they wouldn't have any left in short order! But we Entergy "customers" don't have the option to go shopping elsewhere... Entergy's customer service couldn't really care less about their customers I've noticed....

and we didn't really choose to be their customers, turns out their company came with the houses we bought whether we had any inkling what they were like or not! And what's Entergy's motivation to be a better company for their "customers"? None at all, they have a locked-in base of "customers" that have no choice! It's do as Entergy says or die from the black mold growing thru-out your totally unlivable home!

I do believe I will at the very least add my complaint to the list of BBB complaints against Entergy... I encourage ANYONE who has experienced poor treatment at the hands of Entergy (or any company for that matter) to be sure to do the same!

A poor BBB rating does eventually catch up to a company.Regards and best wishes to all (all except Entergy and it's employees that is... my wish for them is very different).

Street lights out and it seems entergy does not care

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Spoke with Paige about Lakeside Dr lights; Shelby was rude.
  • - Told 5 days to address; a line hangs from the pole.

called today Aug 9,2017. spoke to Paige about lights out on Lakeside Drive, Port Arthur TX 77642.

She was rude and said i need all addresses on this street with lights out. I told her 50 and 51 block of my street. As i am a senior citizen and can not do that and i don"t know all of my neighbors. Then spoke to her supervisor, Shelby, who was more rude and disrespectful.

She even mentioned why don 't i get a personal light for me. She would take the order now. i was also told it would take 5 more days for someone to come out to address the street lights being out, even though a line is hanging down from the pole.

i feel this is poor customer service and if this policy represents Entergy Texas, my State Officials are going to have to listen to me and my neighbors who have also called on this same issue! Left in the dark, Janet Hawkins

Preferred solution: more caring and concerned customer care representatives and better and faster service for customers without lights

Deposit Confusion

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Initial confirmation: $30.00 deposit and $20.00 fee; after moving to a new apartment, deposits changed to $190.00, then $150.00 with $40.00 fee.

Last week I signed up online for Entergy at one address and then today via customer service moved the service to a different address (we chose a different apartment). My first "confirmation email stated a $30.00 deposit and $20.00 connection fee".

I want to emphasize the word Confirmation. Today I called customer service to change the address to the new apartment. I was sent an email "confirmation stating a deposit of $190.00 and a $20.00 connection fee". Why in one week did the deposit change $160.00?

I called customer service again to inquire. I was given a deposit of $150.00 with a $40.00 connection fee. I wonder if I called back what my third deposit amount would be. Crooks!!

This electric service is the only one in the Conroe area, so they can do what they want. Reliant, TXU any other service does not do business this way.

Garbage customer service for Account Setup

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Switching service from contractor to my name has dragged on for weeks.
  • - Promises of confirmation and site checks failed to materialize.

I have been trying to switch services from the contractor who built my house to my own account for over a month and a half. I've had so many different things told to me it's crazy.

First time through, I was told there was no meter at the house, however power is still on in my contractors name through Entergy so there is most definitely a meter. Then requested a follow up service where I was told I would receive confirmation of service the following day, never happened, and this has happened several times.

Just got off the phone where I was told people would be out today to check out what is going on and I highly doubt it will actually happen. Power is still on, so I don't understand why it is so hard to switch service from one name to another.

Cons:
  • Customer service knowledge of how to do things

Preferred solution: Reduced services, credit towards bill, or deposit waived.
