Not paying for a bad engine
- Engine had a knock and later seized; they said contact only if it fails.
- Warranty denied labor; heat-tabs melted; replacement engine sent.
We own a highly rated auto repair shop and bought an engine through this company. The engine had a lower end knock when we installed it and we noted the knock and spoke to a representative from the company.
They said unless if fails no need to contact them. Well a few months later the engine seized up and we had to file a warranty. We even paid extra to ensure that we would be covered if there were any issues. They asked for pictures of the heat tabs so we submitted them.
We hadn't heard from them for a couple of weeks so we contacted them. They said they were sending another engine. We finally installed the other engine and even replaced the thermostat and followed all their guidelines. We have been waiting for the warranty payment for a while and we had to call them again.
They said that they would not be paying for the labor since the heat tabs were melted.
Why would they send us another engine if they were not considering it under warranty? This was a 24hr job that the shop is loosing plus all parts they require to replace for it to be under warranty.

- First engine bad; VCT solenoid; cooling gas detected; replacement delayed.
We are a dealership, and our customer's aftermarket warranty company would only pay for a used engine. She found engine-transmission.com and we ordered it for her.
The 1st engine was bad and we ended up removing the valve cover found someone already installed vct solenoid. someone already try to fix unknown engine problem. Also found combustion gas in cooling system.
It took forever to get them to send another engine, and then they screwed us on paying for the labor to install the new engine..."(they) only pay to remove and replace, (they) do not pay to transfer the parts from one engine to the other."
The sales people are all sweet and nice until you need help from the warranty guy. He is not so pleasant.
Good luck if you don't heed any of the other bad reviews!
