Employers use third parties (TPA's) to MISmanage benefits. These TPS's like Empyrean Benefits Solutions are so cheap they send out open insurance enrollment benefits booklets bulk rate and they do not arrive on time.
Most years they don't send out books at all. They misrepresent and say we got them out late. This is JANUARY 16th 2020 and I am still waiting for the OCTOBER 1st book. They are inept and there is nothing you can do.
There is no recourse. There is no oversight. Then mismanaged Empyrean Benefits Solutions of Houston TX does things like have a two week open enrollment...and not have enough staff to cover. Our contact and coverage information is incorrect in the system, it says we declined coverage we did not decline.
It is a total mess and no one cares. You call them and they misrepresent. Our personal contact information is wrong or missing. This year they just cancelled our insurance coverage.
They did not bother to even make a feeble attempt to contact us. They are doing everything they can to kick us out of the plan. And then you can't get back in. Worst benefit administrator EVER.
Long story short through exceptional efforts we got enrolled and then empyrean notified the third party WAGEWORKS that we were cancelled and we were AGAIN dropped from insurance and our payment mailed back. This is a nightmare. The coverage is wrong in the system. They won't fix it.empyrean benefits administration.
Some of the customer service staff are nice, but it is hard to rate it highly because it is their staff that caused the problem.
No one cares or bothers to do their job and they get by with this mediocre stuff. It is unbelievable to deal with this incompetence...and there is no recourse.
