RearView Camera failed after 2ys 4 months. Emerald support says to buy another camera

I purchased the HD rearview camera for my 2014 grand cherokee. It arrived in working order and i had it installed at local jeep dealership with no issues.

Initial thoughts were that the picture the camera projected on my Uconnect screen is not HD. Nowhere near as detailed as the example pic Emerald has on the product page. Naturally after setting my expectations that it would be HD like in the picture i was disappointed. But hey, the camera works and i already invested a few hundred dollars in install fee.

So i'm keeping the camera. Life is good for little over two years when the camera fails. So i call emerald and troubleshooting leads us to conclude that the camera itself is broken. The support team was empathetic that i have a *** situation and the camera is still considered relatively new by auto standards but they won't replace it and i have to buy another.

They initially offered me %10 off my new purchase if a buy replacement camera on there website. i thought that was a poor response and when i did some research i found that i could buy OEM replacement camera at 25% less than the camera they would sell me. So not only did they sell me a poor product, but they prefer to try to make a nice size profit off my second purchase at the cost of even decent customer service. when i point out that OEM is cheaper than they're offer they offer to price match.

I purchased with them because i thought i would get HD camera at a good price but now i'm paying double the cost and inconvenience of the repair. Beware, sometimes going with a unknown ecommerce site to save a few bucks ends up being the most expensive route.

Emerald Integrations – Buyer Beware

When I made my purchase from their website for a Tundra review camera integrated into the handle, it read OEM handle. Upon receiving the unit, it was in no way an OEM product. I first noticed that the camera was hand glued into the handle. Not a big deal if it was aimed properly. Second thing I noticed was some part number on the actual handle had been defaced and painted over with some type of heavy glue.

I contacted Emerald Integrations and they said their product is OEM integrated but not OEM but they stand behind their product. I was concerned that the product they displayed on the website was no where close to what was sent. They replied in writing that the website had a mistake and it would be corrected. I already had the product so I decided to install.

Handle fit as promised. During the install of the camera wire I noticed that the wire was exceptionally thin. Knowing this I placed the entire wire in a plastic flexible wire loom. Ran it all the way to the front and during the last 1’ it snags on a plastic retained piece and sustains a cut. This forced me to cut the wire and splice it together. While doing this, I noticed that the wire was no thicker then 26 gauge. Surprisingly thin wire and the sheathing sliced way to easy

compared to when I use to install stereos and car alarms for over ten years.

Upon firing up the camera, it was a very good picture but noticed it was aimed way to low. I could see all of the bumper and some of the actual tailgate but you could not see more then maybe 6’ behind the vehicle and no where near the horizon so you can see objects before you are on top of them.

Contacted them again to discuss the cheap wire and the camera pointed at the ground. They showed interest in customer service at first in the wire and asked for photos. I sent them photos of the wire splice and also the camera angle from the screen compared to what they showed on their website. After a few days of using the camera and comparing it to what they advertised on the website and other vehicles with backup cameras, I realized this unit was

simple glued in improperly and also at a slight left angle. I inquired with them about getting a replacement and they went dark. Not answering the phone, returning message or emails.

I finally sent a stern email and ta dialog again commenced. I asked for a replacement handle with a camera pointed at the correct angle under the “Money Back Guarantee” listed on their website and they refused since the cord had been cut. The part of the cord which was cut is not part of the tailgate handle but two separate pieces. I finally said, fine, forget about the cord

and just send me a replacement handle unit. They refused based upon the separate cord piece being cut.

I gave Emerald Integrations owned by Nima Lhalilian the opportunity to resolve this matter with a simple replacement or a partial refund. They chose not to honor their “Money Back Guarantee” or ensure the customer had a properly functioning product.

Buyer beware that this product appears to me to be made in a garage with cheap material and not backed by the company. Google their reviews, I am not alone in having problems with them.

BE CAREFULE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Ok so with all these good reviews maybe I am just an enigma but I wanted to share my story. I bought the backup camera kit for my 2012 Cayenne S as a Christmas present for my wife in November.

Based on their 30 return policy if this is your plan DON'T DO IT! When I originally got the kit I noticed that the name on the camera box said Audi. I mentioned this and they assured me Audi and Porsche use the same blue print. Ok fine I can have that.

When I first attempted the install I opened the box and noticed that a part was missing. It also looked suspiciously like an open item than had been returned as the packing for the sub board was all wrinkled and looked like someone had opened it. I can verify that but it appeared that way. Another indicator was that upon further inspection I noticed that the rear camera power cable was missing too.

When I mentioned this it was "inconceivable" to them that it was mission. Sorry it was. So I contacted them and they said they would get me the part. This took almost 3 weeks.

I'd like to mention that this particular kit requires you to completed dismantle the PCM head unit which has a ton of screws. Not fun to do more than once. When I did get the part I tried the install again. The PCM screen came on for about 10 minutes then went black and would not come back on.

So at that point I took everything out and put it back to factory and the PCM worked again. I decided to take it to a professional installer Emerald Integrations recommended. The had the car all day and at the end they were having the same problem with the screen going black so they took everything back out and the screen worked again. After about a week of calls to and from Emerald Integrations and countless emails a solution was reached and the screen issue was resolved.

However, at the end of the install when they were going to mount the rear handle camera the bolts on the handle were about half an inch shorter than the factory handle. So maybe my original suspicion of the Audi handle being the wrong one was accurate. I ended up telling the professional installer to just glue the camera in because I would have had to drive around without a trunk handle until Emerald Integrations got around to sending a replacement.

So in any case, my suggestion is that there are other kits out there, Car Audio Systems and Nav TV that may be a little more expensive upfront but are super easy to install yourself so you save on having a professional install it so it comes out to be about the same price but with WAY less of a headache and waste of time and energy. I hope this helps someone out there because I sure learned a lesson here.

Bought their backup camera, failed all attempts to work!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In March of 2015, I purchased the E-I back up camera system for my M-B 2015 CLA 250. After spending over 617.00 to install it at a quality installation shop, the results are, no working camera, and disgusting, appalling non-service from E-I's customer service.

They are a FRAUD!! DO NOT USE THEM. I am currently trying to get the 544.00 purchase price for the system through my credit card fraud insurance. The worst part is , now my info system monitor is failing to work on and off.

Worked fine before their equipment was hooked up. In this world where service is supposed to be the key to more sales, this firm is an attrocious failure

Emerald Integrations is a scam of a company...be aware!!!!!

Bought a backup camera from this website (www.emeraldintegrations.com) never received the product, no one responds when I call or email, I have tried to get a refund from them but nobody gets back to me. SCAM!!!!

Buyers be aware, this "company" is a ripoff. I tried to do some research on them and it appears they are located in Woodland Hills, California. The owners name is Nima Khalilian and based on what I can tell, this company was established in February of 2014.

Buyers be aware of this SCAM AND UNETHICAL BUSINESS!!! Strongly recommend that you stay away.
