Ripped off my mother for $3800

AI Highlights
  • - Car sold for $3,800 with blown piston rings and a 3-month powertrain warranty.
  • - Warranty not honored; half engine cost charged; poor communication.

This "company" ripped off my unsuspecting mother for $3,800 by selling her a car that had blown piston rings. While negotiating the sale, they insisted that she would have a 3 month warranty on the powertrain that would cover 100% of the cost if the engine or transmission were to fail.

They told her again and again that they had inspected the car and there was nothing wrong with it. In the first week, it burned 10 quarts of oil and covered the bumper with burnt oil and unburnt exhaust particulate. This is indicative of faulty rings which requires the engine to be replaced. The owners are immediately informed of the problem and my mother brings the vehicle in for inspection / diagnostic testing.

The need for an replacement engine is confirmed, but instead of honoring the warranty as they had originally represented, they now pointed to fine print which says that my mother is responsible for 1/2 the cost of the engine and repair. My mother reluctantly agrees as they refuse to refund the cost the vehicle and she feels that she has no choice at this point. They insist on utilizing their source for a replacement engine and using their mechanic which they say will cost her $700. Two weeks go by, little to no contact, poor communication.

They now claim there is an issue with their mechanic and they can't use him anymore, they must now use a different mechanic who will install the engine for $900.

This is still unresolved, and it is most likely going to end up in court in the next week. Steer clear of this business unless you would like to be defrauded of your hard earned money.

East Coast Z Car Center POOR WORKMANSHIP RIPOFF

AI Highlights
  • - The East coast Z center charged more than the car's worth.
  • - Bodywork cracked a week later; they blamed driving conditions and offered partial repairs.

I had my cars at East coast Z center, located at 4320 Bainbridge Blvd

Chesapeake, Virginia 23324 for months, with a bill that ran up more then the car was worth. Finally i got to take the car home, over paid but who cares, this was what i wanted. with in the same week all the body work started cracking! the car was running right but i over looked that, but now the body which i paid thousands for was cracking all over. i could see one spot here or there but not all of the car. i complain and then bring it in. i was told it was my driving or the driving condition's,, what?

they did not feel responsible for the all the bodywork cracking.

after fighting with them over and over again, they agreed to do "some" of the work over - some! now what do i do, will follow up with this on going headache
