  • - Pacemaker user searched at Dublin airport.
  • - A handheld scanner was used near the pacemaker; may affect the device; please investigate by email.

No reaction whatsoever from DAA

Very poor response to complaints about poorly trained security personnel

Original review Apr 16, 2024
I hav a pacemaker and I regularly travel through Dublin and other airports and would be used to security body search rather than x Ray scanner. Today I was subjected to such a search by a gentleman who was obviously new to the job.

He spent about 5 minutes searching me which I thought excessive but he has to learn. However he then proceeded to use the hand held scanner on my body and concentrated on the area where my pacemaker is implanted.

I have made enquiries and I am informed that this has potential consequences for my device. Can you please investigate this incident which occurred at about 2.15pm today and respond to my e mail at your earliest convenience

Brendan Tyrrell
