Doug Smith Autoplex - Jeep Grand Cherokee Review from Salt Lake City, Utah

This is the WORST place to buy a vehicle! Save your money and go else where because they sell garbage there and lie to you. I went to Doug Smith Autoplex in American Fork, Utah to trade in my jeep. When we arrived there and looked around another jeep had just came in! We test drove it and it seemed good. They didn't let us test drive it very long. Just around the block and back. The interior was nice and the body was nice too. They said they would run it through the shop for us and we could take it home! Lies! They never looked at the problems! When I went to go pick it up the middle seat belt didn't even work! I asked them if they could fix it and they said they would. I brought it back down there and they said they "fixed" it and never did. It is still broken. Later, I take my car through a car wash and water is pouring in my jeep. I called and asked if they even checked the sun roof. And they said yes! Lies! They had me bring it in and told me. "Oh well we must have forgotten to update your computer in your jeep and that's why your sun roof didn't close all the way!" What!!!! Come to find out just a little later that the car is burning oil, has a trans leak, and the lights are messed up from the water! I called them up and said this is unacceptable!! I haven't even had this car for a year!! I hardly even driven the *** thing! I was very disappointed! Once again they had me bring it down. Told me that it was a couple leaks that would cost me 750 and they would pay half and then for me to drive 1,000 and bring it back to see if it is "fix" sorry I am not paying almost 400 dollars for a maybe fix! They said it wasn't bad and their was no smoke so I was fine! Lies! I can see the smoke! While they were looking at it they busted my ignition and replaced it with a new one and didn't even install it correctly! They didn't even tell me they did this! When I went to go get out of my jeep and my key was stuck I called them to see what the *** happened?! And they had no answers! Unbelievable! Don't ever go there! This place totally sucks and their service people don't know what they are doing. I feel like they picked a few people off the street without a high school diploma and gave them a job working on vehicles! Disgusted!

The Service Manager should be fired!

The service tech manager should be fired! I want my life back! This is the 12th time I rescued my Wife as her 2013 Challenger is broken down BECAUSE she went to Doug Smith Autoplex where we bought the car and warranty. The sheer incompetence is mind blowing. This time, it was because the replaced the recalled alternator, and now the car is overheating. We had 6 visits for the car not starting, we paid $200 for a new keyfob, only to find the problem continuing. After 3 months of arguing, we called the warranty and there is a known defect recalled and approved for an ignition switch that the Tech Manager should have known about. Instead, they replaced a working keyfob and we STILL cant get them to replace the ignition switch. The *** car still starts spartically and strands my family somewhere at least once a week. 2 months ago, my wife curb checked her rear tire and bent the rim. We paid $600 for the new rim, and since it had to be purchased through the dealer to match the other 3, we chose to have them put it on. Well, they "threw away" the bent rim and cant locate it because the shop we originally took it to that discovered the bent rim said Doug Smith rotated the tires, and threw away a good one because the bent one on my Wifes car is THE SAME BENT RIM we replaced. We took it to the same place because the tire was leaking air BOTH TIMES. If they think my Wife curb checked 2 rims, why cant they produce the one they "threw away"??? Finally, I had to threaten a law suit for them to replace the cat converter that kept altering power. I stood over the Tech Manager and made him run the diagnostic, wrote down the codes and proved what it was. The warranty company said the Tech Manager should have done it the first time the code came up. Instead we brought in the car 4 times with a check engine light, and they reset the engine light, did no work, and we would be 5 miles away when the light came back on. I have never seen such incompetence and I have finally given up. I'm taking my car to Larry H Miller to repair, and I will sue the Doug Smith Autoplex for damages. The warranty company will not pay for the Tech Managers stupidity, only submitted claims, (which he failed to do on a total of 12 visits misdiagnosing issues). Ridiculous. DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE! GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! I wouldnt wish this *** on anyone.
