Force to tip waiter

2/12/2024 at 730 I arrived I was immediately seated, waiter properly ask what would I like to drink I replied coffee and water soon after I ordered my pancake platter with scramble egg, turkey sausage and fruit bowl Breakfast was delicious I do this routine every morning weekly, now I take my check up to the cashier I tap my card and hit NO TIP and sign. She immediately ask me did you give him a tip I replied NO.

I'm walking to my car she now approaching my vehicle stressing some facts that the waiter needs to be tip this is how he makes his money my total was $18.95 I've Tip and Not Tip before I'm just bewildered on how admitted she was to get a tip out of me, that was so unprofessional she lucky I'm not the crazy type to curse her out and aggressively tell her want i think about her coming all this way to say anything about what she nor the waiter didn't get, FYI she never got a TIP inspite of all that effort and DOUBLE TT diner has definitely just lost a valuable customer. My question is why give the option to press NO TIP if tipping is recommended ?

It says “no tip” because a lot of people leave cash on the table for the tip.

Valuable customers tip their waiters. Quite frankly, this restaurant will be happy they no longer have to serve you.


I am quite sure the staff will be relieved if you do not come back. You know the servers work for tips and you allow them to provide you with service, just so you can in return stiff them.

If you can't spare a few bucks to compensate someone for their service, please stay home or use the McDonald's drive-thru. People like you are broke and broken and there is "no loss" when you decide you are too embarrassed by your own antics to return to a business.


" just lost a valuable customer" No One Cares.... You will not be missed by anyone... Time to find something else to do with your (LOL) life...

We went to the Double T on Mother's Day morning 2023. Before covid we went every year.

The people were like family and everything on the menu was fantastic. If you have never been to the Mountain Rd. location on Mother's Day, They make this 6-8 foot strawberry and cream cake and it's delicious. You have to come early because people line up to get in.

This year we didn't do early morning church so we got in around 7:30 am.

The women who greeted us was not in a good mood and very unfriendly which was uncharacteristic of the group that is usually there.

As we waited for our food, we watched as people started coming in and witnessed them received the same treatment. At one point, people from the other tables started making eye contact, like what's going on here!

Our waitress was very sweet but distracted, she didn't get the whole table taken care of in a timely fashion and we were left unattended far too long as we awaited the bill. She may have been new or she was being tortured by Ms. Grouchy up front.

Now, we brought the whole family and the bill was well over $100 bucks. When we went to pay and get a piece of cake we were told that they weren't cutting the cake till 10 am and Ms. Grouchy added," if you want cake you'll have to come back later" Who wants to come back later, This was the first event of a day, it's Mother's Day. more was to come.

I guess the cake was for their good customers.

I so loved these people and enjoyed dinning there. I held off my review so I would not write in anger but this experience was actually shocking and very disappointing.

We will not go back there. We will go to the other locations but not this one.

Preferred solution: I want the owners to know that the morning people that worked Mother's Day 2023 are not like them. They were rude and unfriendly and they will effect their business.

Bad service

I was dining in double t diner this evening with my aunt and cousin for Mother's Day. She received her short rib dinner and it was swimming in a bowl full of grease The waitress came and took it away and ask her what she like something else.

She ordered a crab cake sandwich. Later on the manager came and asked what was the problem and we explained to her what the problem about the greasy dish. She said that next time she needs to think about that before she orders because it's wasting food. I feel that the chef wasted the food by not straining the grease from the cooking pot and properly plating the short ribs of beef and proper gravy or liquid instead of pure grease.

Also the bill came up to $113 some change I only received $10 back from a $130.

The manager short changed me at that.

What happened to DDT? The waitress was annoyed from the start. The manager asked me was everything OK when she was receiving the funds for the dinner. I advised her I did not like the fact that she accused my Aunt of wasting food when she had a legitimate complaint about the dish that was given to her.

Also, I would like to add the serving plates are dirty.

My Aunt ate her calamari out of the calamari serving bowl instead of the dirty scraped up plate that was provided. Please invest in better serving plates!

When Hot Turkey is COLD

I have been a customer at the Double T Diner in Pasadena for many years. I visit or get delivery two or three times per month. I think they have the best hot turkey sandwiches in the area. I was disturbed by the treatment I received yesterday while having lunch with some friends. When my soup arrived it was cold. I told my waiter and he returned with some very hot soup, which was fine. When my hot turkey and potatoes arrived they were cold also. I mean barely above room temperature. I told the waiter but he didn't seem interested this time. I then asked to see a manager. The manager arrived and tried to tell me the meal was hot because he could feel the bottom of my plate and detect heat. What I felt was mostly room temperature with maybe slightly warmer in the middle. Anyway instead of rectifying the situation by by heating my dinner the manager instead kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the meal. This was not the first time I ordered this item. I know how hot it is supposed to be and usually is. This plate was not close. By the time he finally agreed to replace my meal my friends were done eating and ready to leave. I told him to remove the item from our bill it was to late to fix it now. He didn't want to do that because I had eaten two bites of it already. I said I had to eat some to find out it wasn't hot. He left the table without saying anything more. When the bill came the items were removed. I was upset when I left because I was made to feel the issue was my fault. If he would have just said we will heat it up at the beginning the problem could have been fixed right away. I will be back again soon with hopefully better results. Ken Willey
