RUN AWAY!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been chatting for HOURS in "chat" with DOT5 "techs" over the last 3 weeks. They offer NO phone support.

My website was down for over 2 weeks, and had to go with another domain host with a new web address to get it back up and running!

I cancelled, but could not remove my credit card info before doing so. I think I'm going to call my bank, and have them block all future payments to Dot5 hosting if possible.

Beyond frustrated with these clowns!

Dot5 disconnected my domain and lied about it.

I moved my domain and email server to Dot5 18 months ago. Without notice, my email stopped working and my webpage was a very old version.

I called tech support and was on hold for over two hours. I went to the live chat version and got a Sandy Ray after 25 minutes. He immediately asked the wrong security question indicating to me he wasn't really on my Dot5 account. Seems this third party service had both my original hosting service and Dot5 as clients. He insisted that I never had a Dot5 account. I said he must have an error as I could forward him the welcom emails from Dot5 with the domain in question. He said not possible.

He wanted me to fax a photo id to him to continue the chat. I said no, that was absurd.

I asked for a supervisor. He flatly said no and directed me to call the number. I asked for a supervisor again. He said no and hung up. Probably the rudest support person yet.

Called again, waited 30 minutes and the guy said maybe my domain was there but a supervisor would call me back. Never happened.

Next day I gave it another try. Six calls ranging from 6 to 40 minutes because I could not spend the whole day waiting. Finally got someone who said I was wrong but it wasn't her department anyway. Back on hold. I tried the live chat while waiting. Got someone after twenty minutes (still no one on the phone).

First thing this person tried to do was tell me the problem was closed because it was marked resolved.

Carefully explaining from the beginning for about 20 minutes, she finally asked what I wanted. My domain back I said keeping a civil tone. She said ok and left me to cool out for another 15 minutes. Finally said it would be back in 12-24 hours. That is an absurd amount of time. 12 hours later, still nothing.

Really did not enjoy the assumption I was an ***. Did not like their tech support taking over the servicing of both these hosting services and randomly moving me back 28 months.

Earliest opportunity I am out of there. Right now they have the latest verision of my site and I can't do anything until FTP comes back on line.

Up to now, I had no complaints about downtime. But there techsupport has taken a severe dump. I want my 4 and a half hours of waiting on hold back.

Dot5 hosting is definitely the worst

Save yourself untold aggravation and do not get involved with these clowns. They're either scammers, incompetents, or both.

After I cancelled their hosting, they proceeded to go into my bank account and take another year's fees...then wouldn't credit me. My bank had to take care of making it right. Every email correspondence had a different rep's name. I suspect they switch names so you have to start from the beginning every time you try to get satisfaction.

In addition to that horrendous service, they are apparently involved with "rebateheaven.com", a firm that promises a rebate on hosting fees, but then attempts to duck their obligation. Watch out!

Dot5Hosting

I had purchased a web hosting account from Dot5Hosting.com last year. The control panel was too hard to navigate so I never used it. In November, I received an email reminder that my credit card will automatically be charged for the annual fee in January. I signed into my account and couldn't figure out how to cancel it altogether, so I changed it to manual instead of auto-renew.

The next week I got ANOTHER reminder and so I signed back into my account and lo and behold it again said auto-renew.

I changed it back to manual, logged off and back on to make sure it took. It said manual, but then a week later, it said auto renew again, so I changed it AGAIN.

You can guess what happened. I got charged anyway in January. I sent them an email and told them what happened. They said they would cancel my account, so now I can no longer sign into my control panel. I sent them an email and asked them to refund my money.

They said that in order to get a refund, I need to fax them the following:

Your name

Your account username

Your domain name

Your domain username

Your E-mail address

Your phone number

Your signature

Current person's name tied to the domain.

The brief description of your issue.

The current mailing address information for the domain

Copy of your photo identification

All this is needed to get money back that I did not authorize!

I called my bank and because it wasn't a credit card (it was a debit card), they are making me fill out a four page dispute request.

Moral of the story: stay away from Dot5hosting!

Dot5 Hosting is incredibly incompentent

Dot5 hosting LOST two of my domain names after they both had been automatically renewed and paid for (I have all receipts and cc statement as proof). I have been in contact with them daily for 2 months, and it's been the most frustating thing that has ever happened to me.

One site was acquired by a company that finds dropped domain names. they say they'll sell it to me (MY domain name!) for $650. I've faxed, emailed countless times, been on chat convos with dot5, and nothing, nothing nothing has been done about this. They say they're "working on it" and say "sorry for the inconvenience." But each time I talk to a new support person, I have to start over.

All I want is for them to buy the lost domain name back for me.

They lost it through absolutely their own fault!!!

Dot 5 Hosting Sucks - impossible to cancel account

It is impossible to cancel an account with Dot 5 Hosting. The will continue to charge your credit card after you try to end your service.

I've sent 10 emails and made 7 phone calls, alldocumented, attempting to cancel. They just keep charging.

Do not do business with them unless you want to pay for it for life!
