Finance charge cost me $7.21... But it cost them TWO patients

My wife and I finally had dental insurance for the first time in our lives. We found Dorothy Lane Dental by just passing by their front door. We scheduled cleaning appointments for us both. Several issues were found with out teeth and additional appointments were needed. The ladies in the back were wonderful. The dentist was polite. I received a bill showing my insurance benefit was maxed out and I owed $82.45, with $7.21 being a finance charge. It seemed the amount of time between invoicing and payment from my insurance company went passed their 30 days of patience. I questioned the office manager about the fee, but she refused to remove it. I paid my bill in full and canceled both my wife's and mine next scheduled cleaning. (I just drove by the location and they are no longer in this building 05/09/2018)

Excellent service

The staff upfront were very courteous. The crown of my front tooth fell just before the holidays. The doctor was so professional and saw me right away when I showed up at their opening hour. Theresa -dental assistant -wonderful! She was so helpful, very kind and supportive. I am so grateful for their service! Will definitely recommend to anyone. They assisted me with an irresistible smile on their faces! Always so great to accommodate my schedule. They worked with my health insurance and advised me the most convenient path to take for my future "tooth" selection. There were affordable options! Please go there as soon as possible if you need an affordable, ethical and efficient dentist. I cannot emphasize the care that I have been shown by everyone at this dentis office.

Office Manager Killing this business

I never received a bill from them. I paid my invoice infull at time of service and just received a collection company invoice that I owe them $110.76. several visits in March I had work done on my teeth. I paid the bill infull and according to my statement from my insurance company this was paid. I called the office today 8/12 and spoke with a lady called ***** who said she is the office Manager refused to speak about my billing invoice because my account is in collections. This is not the first time their accounting was wrong. They held a $83 credit for years until I returned to use it. After insisting to speak with the Dentist she hung up on me during my call and after calling a forth and final time another lady named ***** told me she is the Manager and hung up on me too. This service I received was paid in-full. I left several voice mails and called but no return call as instructed in their recording. Poor office communication and not professional workers. I'm mostly disappointed because now I have to find another dentist for my family of five. Read their reply to my Dayton BBB Online complaint, they lie to save their jobs. We all need employment but I will never make a mistake and then lie to my boss' customer.

Dorothy Lane Dental Services Review

My teeth and my Daughters' teeth are ruin, the dental hygienist scrape our enamel off. But the woman who come's in after Dr. Loganathan left a small open area to start another cavity. I found the Dentist Dr. Loganathan and the staff excellent. But what are we to do now, most of the dental work I need is beyond repair and so is my Daughters.

Rude Service and unethical business practice

Another review touched on the hidden $125 costs for treatment as they want you to purchase their electric toothbrush under the guise of treatment. I already had one and they never even asked , they just charged me for it until I spoke up. Worst office staff I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Very rude, unaccomodating and they act as if they are doing you a favor by getting you an appointment and it takes forever to get in, even if you have acute pain symptoms. Don't ever be late for an appt by 10 minutes (even though you'll wait every time for 20 minutes in the waiting room) or you'll receive a public verbal lashing from an over pressured, overworked hygienist who is probably only acting out due to the nasty women she has to deal with who work in the office. The dentist seems to be totally unaware of just how awful the staff is and their behavior. I was oblivious to the fact that my insurance didn't cover my entire procedure and I owed $1.00. I'm guessing I hadn't updated my address ( my fault) and never received a bill for the whole $1.00 I owed them, but I find out later I am in collections after trying to make an appointment. I am told that before I can have a filling fixed, I must pay for the entire procedure up front and out of pocket and have my insurance reimburse because of my "collections" account of $1.00. I tell the one of the women in the office named Laura that it is absurd and she hangs up on me. I call back and ask for the office manager to call me. Two days later I get a "divorce" template letter from the dentist telling me our professional relationship had been somehow compromised and I would be better off seeing another dentist. The funny part is I was already in the process of doing so and I find it appalling that this practice deems it socially and professionally acceptable to treat any patient in the manner of which I have been treated. A very unprofessional relationship no one should ever endure. Good riddance Dorothy Lane Dental....

Hello, This must be common with them regarding how they treat their customers. I received the same letter not to return because of their mistake.

This office manager is killing this man's business. I was going there long before the current dentist took over.

Running off good paying and long time customer (Small family of Five), we will never return there as long as that office manager is there working. See my Dayton BBB Complaint: http://www.bbb.org/dayton/business-reviews/dentists/dorothy-lane-dental-in-dayton-oh-12999/complaints

Rude Receptionist Review

This is the worst office I have ever been to in my life!!!The receptionist was rude and disrespectful. I missed my appointment because my grandmother had a stroke, I called she told me it was ok then said I couldn't return until I paid a 25 for a no show fee. I would not have mind paying the bill until she got nasty and told me "it was not her fault that my grandmother had a stroke". They need to get rid of her or they will continue to lose patients.

Dorothy lane Dental Dayton Ohio

This place is a scam!! They force their patients to purchase a $125 toothbrush under the guise of Rotadent on your bill! So beware they'll have you sign a little grey electronic signature to say you accepted the "Rotadent" as part of their treatment. I even called them after the fact because my estimated bill did not show what I was being charged for. I had heard of this scam with another dentist chain so they said no there would be no charge for a toothbrush. They sent me a copy and everything sounded like dental procedures to the untrained eye. Rotadents a toothbrush!! Hopefully this helps someone not to be scammed.

Dorothy Lane Dental shoddy work billed for work not done

Dorothy Lane Dental Dayton Ohio is the biggest scam, sham, fraudulent ripoff I have ever seen! The root canal was more than they said and not even done right. I have bad taste in that tooth, probably infection and a great deal of pain. When I got my partial plate it was a huge monstrosity of metal, which hasn't been used in partials for years. They forced the thing in my mouth, then it took 3 of them to remove it forcibly. That was after going back 5 times! I wore it home as they said I 'just need to get used to it." I talked like I had cerebral palsy, slobbered and drooled all over myself and couldn't get it out. I went back the very next day and wouldn't you know it...my dentist had suddenly left the country for 3 weeks! They removed the partial, said they would contact me when my dentist returned. I found out a month later when I started getting collector calls that they never notified the finance company that I did not have the partial. They took the money, and never refunded the money already paid by my insurance company and the finance company!! Nobody would ever call me back. Beware!!!!
