Radio Shack - Maxell Wireless N USB dongle

On March 30, 2016 I bought the Wi-Fi dongle from a Radio Shack store in Sanitago de Surco, Lima, Peru. 7 days after later it died, the computer reads the card, but it will not send or receive data.
In other words it is not working. Now, I took the product back to the store in which I bought it, and they are telling me that for an exchange I have to return it unopened in the original package within 7 days. That is fine if you don't use it, but I have used the product and it dies on the same day the warranty ends, seems extreme. So what is the exchange for this faulty piece of equipment to my understanding I don't get one cause I have opened it and used it for 7 days, actually it wasn't even a full 7 days, I used it only for 5 days, cause 2 days I was not home.
Now who wants to buy a new WiFi card (Maxell Wireless N USB dongle) every 7 days? That doesn't give me high hopes for the products that they are selling in the stores or for the franchises outside of the Peru, let alone North America. Now they are changing there name to "Coolbox", but still sell Radio Shack products. I never had any problems with any Radio Shack in the past and have been shopping there for years.
My wife refuses to buy anything from there. Well, I think that is the last time I will be buy anything from there.
So, for anyone that visits Lima, Peru and you want to buy from a Radio Shack / Coolbox, the exchange or return is only for 7 days and the product can not be opened. What a *** rule, who is going to buy something and not use it, really why would you buy any products from there?
