Very poor communication regarding charges/Poor customer service

AI Highlights
  • Before treatment, price for root canal was verified as including all charges.
  • Six weeks later a higher bill arrived; the charges were not as discussed.

I had a root canal done with Dr. Palmieri.

Prior to visit I called the office several times and spoke to Maja to verify the price and asked if there are any additional charges may occur to make sure what to expect and I was assured that this is the total price for treatment no matter what and that’s what it is going to be after insurance adjustment if I have it at the time of treatment. After checking reviews online where I saw concerns about unexpected extra charges being billed I called back the office and expressed my concern and verified the total amount that will be billed to my insurance company. And here we go, about 6 weeks later I received the bill that was not informed about and higher amount that was discussed upfront though I called at least three time prior to visit to make sure about the fees and asked what other charges may occur and I was told that the whole treatment was included in that price. I tried to talk to the billing department, office manager and front desk and was referred to the person I spoke to originally, Maja, who confirmed the price she told me before my visit was correct and that she will look into it and called me back shortly after stating that it is their standard fees.

Everybody I spoke with were reluctant to listen and stated upfront that it is standard fees for everybody which I understand as long as it is communicated upfront and people know what to expect. I understand that insurance may not pay everything that I was taking into consideration but to bill insurance for higher amount that was previously discussed and verified several times prior to coming is not fair to a customer.

Horrible customer service! Would not recommend to go over there.

Loss:
$205
Pros:
  • Office
Cons:
  • Communication skills
  • Poor customer service
  • Lack of front desk staff training

Preferred solution: To charge the price that was agreed upon prior to the treatment/ Not sending bill that were not communicated

I had exactly the same situation. I actually saw several reviews about billing issues/unexpected after charges to customers on yelp and google.

Prior to visit I called the office to verify total charges.

And I still was billed more than we agreed upon. Poor communication and customer service.
