Increase in charge per KWH soars by 50% Company made 19.9 billion in 2016
This summer Diverse Power of Georgia has really hurt their consumers. We all expect to pay a little bit more in summer, but THIS YEAR Diverse power has put the screws to us.
In winter I paid 0.093 per KWH used and this summer they have killed us by charging an increase of over 50% with a charge of 0.144!!!!!! This is nuts and they should be reported to the BBB and the state. There is no excuse for this increase! That means our electric bills are increased by 50% each summer month.
For those struggling to pay their power bills, can you imagine a sudden increase in your power bill of 50%! Say you are paying 200 a month and suddenly it jumps to 300 per month! Diverse Power made (revenue) 19.9 billion in 2016.
There is no excuse for this horrible increase for the summer months! Give some of your income back to people struggling to pay their power bills.

Yes there is, it’s called supply and demand. I’m thinking youre under the mistaken belief that electricity is unlimited when it is not.
Sure our atmosphere generates billions of watts but we can’t harness that. We haven’t tapped geothermal and solar is still a ways away from generating as much as we need. So that leaves us three power sources to generate electricity. Coal, hydroelectric and atomic.
All of which cost money to run and make power. When the supply of power is less then the demand the prices go up. You have gotten so use to the idea of electricity that you have forgotten it has to be MADE. When the demand is higher in one area power is purchased from other sources and companies.
It’s no different then in the winter the cost of propane goes up.
People use propane and oil to keep warm so when it’s particularly cold the prices of those consumables goes up. Basic economics really.
Forget all about the BBB ; they can and will do NOTHING. They are not the Commerce Police and have no authority over anyone or anything.
It is an urban legend. Skip it.The greed of utilities is mind boggling.
Their legal rights to violate your property are worse. You are helpless victims and believe me when I state that, historically, wars have begun over less egregious events.
