Discount Golf Co Selling Fakes
I just purchased what I was assured were authentic Callaway X-22s from a company called Discount Golf (www.golfclubs.com). Before purchase (they were $100 less than at Golfsmith) I asked if they were Chinese knockoffs and they told me emphatically, in writing, that they were authentic--that they had gotten a good deal since the newer technology of the Razr was now on the market.
When I received them, I registered the serial number for the set on your website and it accepted it (750029****). However, upon closer examination they did not seem to pass muster. The invoice indicated that the clubs were shipped from the People's Republic of China. There was not a warranty card in the box.
Not good. The fit and finish was not up to Callaway quality. Furthermore, the swingweights for 3-7 irons are D1, 8-iron D2, 9-iron C6, PW C9, and SW D2--obviously not spec. When I contacted the company they were very evasive and when pressed they offered me monetary compensation to keep the irons and keep quiet.
These people claimed that their suppliers guaranteed authentic clubs.
They were obviously lying. They also claim to sell authentic clubs from other manufacturers.
