Stay away from discount electronics
- - Discount Electronics laptop freezes and crashes, with poor battery life.
- - Customer service was unhelpful; I won't buy again.
I purchased a laptop from discount electronics four days ago, i was hoping it would be good however, from the moment I turned it on, it was clear that something was wrong. It kept freezing, crashing, and the battery life was abysmal.
Despite my efforts to troubleshoot, the issues persisted.
When I reached out to customer service for help, I was met with nothing but frustration. The representatives were unhelpful and seemed disinterested in resolving my problem. After numerous calls and emails, I was told that there was nothing they could do and that I was stuck with a faulty laptop.
Not only is the product itself unreliable, but the lack of support from the company has left me incredibly disappointed.
I will never purchase from this company again and would advise others to steer clear as well. stay way from discount electronics

Poor Customer Service
- - Difficulty reaching live support; options are message, chat, or email.
- - Since the order, I've received daily email solicitations; answers are not clear.
I am trying to reach live customer support. All I get is leave a message, Live chat is a contact.
Send an email and get a reply.
The answers are not clear and to the point. Talking with a live agent will resolve the issue quicker.
Once I placed the order a few weeks ago, I started receiving multiple email solicitations daily
How about focusing on true customer service

IPhone repair
- - Replaced iPhone 5 screen for $129; it stopped responding to touch.
- - Warranty added $89; staff claimed water damage voids the warranty; Sprint fixed it.
Don't waste your money here. I took an iPhone 5 to Discount Electronics to repair a cracked screen for $129.
The screen failed (static showing on screen). I returned the phone for warranty repairs, and was told I needed to pay an additional $89, which I did. This screen didn't respond to touch commands. On returning to the store, I was told (without any troubleshooting) that the phone was water damaged, and the warranty was void.
I took the phone to a Sprint shop and guess what? No water damage, only a sub-standard replacement part from Discount Electronics. Sprint fixed the phone on the first attempt, and it stayed fixed. Discount Electronics provides sub-standard parts that are installed by untrained personnel who don't know how to troubleshoot and repair.
Discount Electronics' people were completely incompetent, rude, and a total waste of time and money. Flush your money down the toilet instead: At least you'll get to see it go round and round.
Discount Electronics - RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS
- - Ordered a Dell screen that didn't fit.
- - No refunds, only store credits; restocking fee applies.
- - Terms are buried and require checkbox agreement.
Discount Electronics - RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS
I ordered a part for my Dell Laptop (a replacement screen) and specifically picked the one for my model laptop. When it arrived it didn't fit at all (not even close).
When I called to return it, they informed me that they do not offer refunds, EVEN FOR SHIPPING THE WRONG PART!!! CONSUMER BEWARE!!! Do NOT order anything from them. Not only do they not offer refunds (only store credits, so that you have to shop with them again or lose your $$), they make you pay a re-stocking fee!!
Yes, the terms are buried in the terms (you check a box), but they KNOW that NOBODY reads them. I will NEVER do business with them again and I'm now going to post this on my facebook page and everywhere else I can think of.
Shipped Used Non-funtioning Product!
- - They advertise refurbished items as working, but are used.
- - Power supply arrived scratched and nonfunctional; RMA needed and store credit offered.
This store is the worst example of what buying on the internet should be. They advertise that their products are refurbished, and that is an outright lie.Thier products are used, and sometimes not even checked that they work!
I ordered a Dell power supply, and paid to have it have it priority mailed to me. When it arrived it was scratched and did not work out of the box. I immediately called them and advised them of their non-functioning product. I told them that my business computer was down, and I needed an immediate replacement. I was told that they could not send me a new one until I filled out a RMA request form, they would review it and then e-mail me a RMA.
I was told that after they received the power supply they would evaluate it, and only then could send me a replacement. I advised their customer service rep that I could not wait the week that he said it could take, and that I needed to get one locally as I needed to get my business computer operational.
He told me that I was free to do that, and if the returned power supply was defective, that only then would I get "Credit"! *** me assumed that as I had charged it on my Visa card, credit meant back to my Visa account, as every other on-line vendor does! This is a normal policy, when company ships a defective product.
When they received the defective product back in Texas, they sent me an e-mail saying that indeed it was defective, and they would give me store credit only. I advised them that this was unacceptable! Although I can understand such a policy for warranty, when a product that one orders is as advertised, and work on arrival, but then fails during the warranty period.
However, for something that does not work out of the box, from a copy company that sells only other product I do not need, a credit back to my account is the only acceptable solution!
I am still waiting for the credit back to my Visa account, and have filed a complaint with both the Texas Better Business Bureau and my credit card bank.
My advise is to save yourself the aggravation of dealing with this company, as there are hundred of other reputable computer parts vendors you can buy from!
Terrible company to buy from. Beware!
- - Ordered wrong system board; returned for refund with a 15% restocking fee.
- - Only in-store credit offered, expiring in 3 months.
Client Ordered a system board from them. Ordered the wrong board. Returned for a refund. Charged a 15% restocking fee. Which was fine as we picked the wrong item. Then they did not have the board I need so all they will give is an in store credit. Useless as I don't need any thing else. AND... The credit expires in 3 months.
Stay away from this place.
This was ordered by a 70yr old retiree on a fixed income. Merry christmas to him. I'm seeing a lot of reviews about them. If you have a problem with them let everyone know.
Unworkable Product, Bogus $20 Test, No Refund, Won't Mediate
- - Refurbished monitor intermittently flashes or stays off.
- - $20 testing fee; $20 shipping; net credit $79; BBB mediation refused; look elsewhere.
I purchased a refurbished computer monitor from these people and, when received, it would intermittently flash on and off and sometimes stay off for an extended period of time. Despite their warning that 90% of the RMAs test out to show no problem (costing the consumer a $20 testing fee), I filled out an RMA and mailed it back at a mailing cost of $20. How can 90% of their customers with problematic equipment be so *** as to imagine problems that don't exist???
In about one week after receiving it, they emailed me and stated that it was tested and found to be functioning properly. Furthermore, they indicated that I would be charged $20 for testing and not receive a credit for my $20 shipping cost. After deducting the $20 testing fee, they offered me a net credit of $79 whereas I've already invested about $150 in this monitor. I don't need anything else that they provide so the credit will go into their back pocket and they will resell this non-functional monitor again.
I tried to resolve this issue through the Austin Better Business Bureau and, after about a week, the BBB recommended Mediation which Discount Electronics promptly refused.
This has been a very frustrating experience and I would highly recommend
that anyone seeking to do business with this firm look elsewhere because they won't be around much longer if they continue to conduct business in this manner.
Refused to refund money on a defective part
- - I paid $21 for a Tower Fan that failed.
- - Returned it; $7 shipping; $20 testing.
- - Refund denied; offered $10 store credit; I expected a new fan.
I paid this company $15.00 plus shipping total $21.00, for a Tower Fan for a Dell PC, It ended up not working, I sent it back (another $7. shipping), they said the testing would cost $20.00 ..then they said it works... I demanded a refund..they refused and offered a $10.00 store credit...my total cost for this product has now reached $28.00...I expected a new fan when I ordered it, not a refurbished one...after several emails, they still refuse to refund my money..do NOT under any circumstance purchase anything from the outfit...they ARE a rip off
Warranty issues on misrepresented products
- - It was advertised as refurbished but arrived used.
- - The seller won't replace the adapter without testing; 2 weeks.
- - Buyer warns to shop elsewhere.
Riddle me this: when you purchase a product that is sold as "refurbished", and upon receipt find that it is merely "used", what do you do? Sadly, if you're me, you accept it and get to work on your computer again.
Sadder still, is when the adapter fails not 60 days into having received it, that this unscrupulous deceptive seller refuses to replace this fine piece of (un)refurbished equipment without you sending it to them for them to "test".
Estimated turn-around time: 2 weeks, in which time you will not be able to use your computer unless you do what I did: purchase a brand new one from a local reseller and eat your losses from dealing with these thieves. I am curious as to what response I'll be getting back from the Texas Attorney General's office after they've read my complaint.
Buyer beware (and by beware, I mean shop elsewhere).
Discount Electronics Sold me a junk battery
- - Bought an online laptop battery on Apr 21, 2009.
- - Battery failed by mid/late July; staff refused to extend beyond 90 days.
I bought a laptop battery from the online version of this store on April 21st 2009 because it was a good deal. I paid for and received the battery along with a receipt, nothing else.
The battery started to fail in mid to late July. Here was MY mistake. I did not immediately contact the store about the battery failure. I have a litany of excuses; vacation, business trip, ignorance etc. but all along i thought. "This store is an actual brick & mortar store, they'll treat me right" Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! a 'Jake' from the online division informed me it was past the 90 days. (by about 12 days) i pushed back. He referred me to the online warranty, 90 days. I asked to speak to his superior, he (jake) said no and "90 days".
What is most irritating about this experience is not that he would not bend on the 90 days, (he should have then, i would not be writing this review, but a good one) Nor is it that i was never able to talk to Jakes superior, (if you're doing a good job you have nothing to fear about this) but mostly that the battery was junk. Discount electronics sells ***. it's cheaper because it's cheap junk. The do not care about you as a customer, and they do not care about their name, and they do not care about their products. Do Not buy anything from this store!!
