Crooks Incorporated

You could be an excellent driver of 50 plus years, then if you suddenly get pulled over and charged with a DUI (even after one drink in a restaurant) you are then obligated to a ripoff scam requirement of SR-22 insurance for 5 years. Then if you get into any type of moving violation, fender bender, etc. they automatically double your insurance rate by over $100 on top of the already high rate you are paying. In the end you end up paying more for car insurance than your car payments itself. This law really needs an overhaul. It does absolutely nothing to curb DUI. It does make insurance companies filthy rich.

Direct General Insurance more than 4 months to pay 1/3rd of my real damage

After a Direct general client hit 2 vehicles parked at my house at 5 am and left the scene, this company has not settled this, they sent a couple of letters , we did all they asked even agreed to receive 1/3 of the real value of the damage, and still have not gotten a dime, they are a bunch of delinquents and I hope I never have to deal with them again, and I hope someone could use this information to their advantage because dishonest companies such as DIRECT GENERAL do not deserve to be in business, God Bless

Attn: For all the ones that has been wronged via Direct General. Good news; you may have up to five, yes 5 years to get your claims heard.1st.

Contact your local city small claims office, to file a small claims suit to get the ball rolling.2nd. Let them know, we the people are no longer taking their crap. All insurance companies: Delay, Denie and Defend, it’s their golden rule. Bottom line until we the people stand up and speak up, hold them accountable, Direct General will continue to do what they do best.

Bleed us out of our money that lawfully ours on our claims.3. Once you file the simple start forward small claims complaint, pay the small fees, serve it upon them. Good thing is, the major big shot lawyers that defend them are not allowed in small claims court. That's right, it’s you against them and a fair Judge that is there to listen to what you have to say.4.

Make sure the court clerk’s office have your correct contact information:cell number, home or business address. Once you file your claim in small claims court, make sure you ask for a court date. The courts normally will assign you one once the case is assigned to a judge.

But you can also ask for one. Most times; the clerks can tell you when your court date is and whom the judge is assigned to hear your matter. The cost to file a small claims court action is very small considering your amounts your owed and may be awarded.Be sure to not miss your court date, and if Direct General fails to show, simple as for a DEFAULT JUDGEMENT.YOU WIN.

Direct General in Durham bullies the people their clients hit & tell them they can't have a rental car. Their tactics have almost cost a person his scholarship to Duke.

Left a family with no way to get to a grocery store by delaying the rental car until the offer was out which was half the price of the car.

They do this intentionally so they don't have to pay for a rental car. Worst insurance company, ever.
