They didn't disconnect our old address so we are paying someone else's bills for six months.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

While moving out of our property 6 months ago we were advised by our agency to use DirectConnect to help us with a 'hassle free' reconnection service at our new address. Total scam.

They reconnected us at the new address but did not disconnect us from the first address and didn't advise we would have to do this ourselves. As we pay direct debit to Origin, we only realised we were paying someone else's bills for the past 6 months when I noticed we had two gas bills in the same week. Direct Connect advertise themselves as making moving easier but we have been so ripped off. I contacted them directly and they are creating a case file but the operative said he couldn't say for sure that we would be refunded despite this being a huge error on their part.

If we hadn't been told to use DirectConnect we would have done it ourselves and it would have taken five minutes. It sends a false message that they will do it all for you and that is not the case.

So rude

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Don't even waste your time calling them! I feel comfortable rejecting this company based only on a phone conversation.

I just called Direct Connect car transport company for a quote on moving a car from Colorado to Maryland. The woman who answered sounded surly from the first word.

She then interrupted me to say, "So do you want a quote or not?" I was shocked, but said yes, but I wondered if they were a carrier or a broker because I preferred the latter, and she said, "Well good luck with that," and hung up on me! I'm not sure I've ever had any salesperson speak to my that rudely ever.

They transfer telstra and foxtel but made a new contract with another gas and electricity provider without my consent and did not cancel my previous contract with Origin, therefore I had to pay 2 bills of 2 different addresses plus disconnection fees

Moving House with Direct Connect

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I can say direct connect has a bad service and reputation. I contact them last February to move in a apartment which i was referred by a real estate agent.

The customer agent mentioned that i have some discounts from Telstra. But the truth is, its already bundled to new customers who apply for an internet connection. They pretend/lie; that since we contact direct connect they're the one who mentioned that the discounts came from them. They will force you also to use their recommend electrical company, internet company and etc.

I can't recommend it to everyone to apply in direct connect.

Such a bad service! I know there are lots of reviews.

Thank you for your feedback – we genuinely appreciate it. Direct Connect prides itself on providing exceptional customer service and we work hard to achieve this for each of our customers.

It is unfortunate that your experience did not meet our high standards and we would like to investigate further to ensure we understand what went wrong, if you wish please send your details to info@directconnect.com.au.

At Direct Connect we know that moving is a challenging time and so we try to minimise the hassle by providing a simple way to connect with a panel of Australia’s leading energy and utilities providers.

Our priority is getting your connection completed – so that you can move in with the confidence that your connections will be on and further we guarantee this with our Always On Guarantee. To ensure we can live up to our Guarantee, we rely on our preferred partners, but there is generally a choice.

Looking at the feedback here, your priority isn't getting connected, many reviews here state your company has failed to do so. Your priority is maximising on your finder's fee, it's a strange business model, but it would be less unethical if your telemarketers didn't solicit customers dishonestly who are otherwise happy to get connected on their own.

You know very well what you are doing, and the dishonesty is what people don't like. This might be a free service to the consumer, but consumers pay their convenience fee in higher rates

Direct Connect Service Transfer Review from Fortitude Valley, Queensland

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Booked a reconnection thru Direct Connect but left wondering if it will actually happen. I have to sit at the property for over 5 hours as the Electricity provider must test all power points.

This is absolutely weird as I could live in a property for 50 years and they wouldnt offer to check the points. Im only reconnecting the power 2 weeks after closing my account as Ive decided to sell.

When the new owner has the power put back on in what could be 4 weeks later they too will have to go thru this whole painful approach. Its just plain silly.

You know that's a requirement for the whole of QLD by Energex? Haha.

There are thousands of other people that have had to wait just like you.

A VI is determined by Energex and it's to ensure the property is safe to reconnect. Technicians have thousands of others to connect, not just yours- hence why the long timeframe.

Suck it up and stop putting then blame on other people

Absolutely Shocking Service

Direct Connect were referred to us by the Real Estate Agent to arrange a Service Provider for electricity and for it to be connected before we moved in. Four days after moving in (in the middle of a heat wave) we still have not been connected and in fact have been blatantly lied to.

After numerous calls and complaints, on day 3 we were told that someone would be there before 5pm to connect the power and that someone had to be at the premises to let them in - fair enough, taking a day off work waiting at the property still no connection. Having had a gut full of all the bull !@#t I phoned the Electricity company myself to find that no application had been made by Direct Connect to have the power switched on !!

WHAT PATHETIC SERVICE, IN FACT THERE WAS NO SERVICE. DISGUSTED !!!!!

Useless service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I used Direct Connect when recently moving home to disconnect old services and connect new services. They assured me they could do both and in fact, connected my new services without an issue.

However, 2 months later, I'm still waiting for the disconnect. I've been told several times that the disconnection is going through and then nothing happens. No followup from them and no real assistance. Pathetic service.

After my most recent encounter with them they pretty much told me I would need to sort it out myself!

Now I'm happy I still have the old account because I can transfer services and make sure Direct Connect lose out on their trailing commission. Would never recommend them or use them again

Be Careful

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

DirectConnect will happily take a commission from your new energy provider but will NOT disconnect your old provider. This is not part of the service, though they are not at all upfront about this, will not tell you about it and will not proactively offer it.

If you do choose to use the 'service' offered by DirectConnect, be warned that you will be responsible or disconnecting your old supplier. In past dealings with DirectConnects competitors, this service has been provided as a matter of course so it would be reasonable to expect that DirectConnect would provide this as part of their so-called service.

Unfair debt caused by Direct Connect

Unfair debt caused by Direct Connect

As a rental tenant, I have relied on Direct Connect's service a number of times without any problems.

Upon moving into my current residence, Direct Connect failed to carry out their service of connecting my utilities unbeknownst to me as I didn't receive any written notice (as stated in their terms and conditions regarding suspending their obligations or Customer's agreement 12.1).

Only after having my power supply disconnected for 3 concurrent days and numerous calls to the utility providers involved, I learned the power and gas accounts were not even connected in my name, and am now in debt of approximately $2000 - Not easy to pay when receiving unemployment benefits.

My advice? DON'T rely on this company for anything.

My area's Electricity supply company's advice? (Quote) "Never rely on Direct Connect, they're hopeless".

Hey mate, i work for a company similar to direct connect. to be honest it sounds like it's more of a case of the provider failing to do their job, unless of course direct connect can't give you any proof that they submitted the requests (ask for copies of lodgment info).

When you call up the provider directly, if the work isn't completed by their back of house team, they'll almost always have no record from the front of house perspective (those guys are pretty hopeless themselves), but it doesn't mean it wasn't sent.

The agreement quoted extends only so far as direct connects obligation to submit the request to the provider.

if they didn't send it off, they have to let you know in writing, but if the provider just doesn't take action then it's out of their hands (if your mum sent you a letter and Australia Post lost it, you wouldn't blame your mum).

Also, how long did you go without receiving a bill to have a $2000 debt? 6 months?

12 months? Maybe you should keep a better track on your bills next time, you should have known something was up after the first 3 when nothing came.

A way to stop them but it is a little more involved -

1. file complaint in writing to the company

2.

file complain with your current bank on the charges and revoke any charge by them (you may have to go to the bank in person to do this) if you gave them your credit/debit card: have bank freeze current card and issue new card (***: may not have a debit for a short period of time pro: would freeze out future attempt to charge card)

3. same process if you used the bank routing & your account number

get a new account at a different bank. I have had to do this with several companies not following the written company policy.

It works, but can be time consuming. hope this helps

They don't get you a good deal

I only signed up with electricity through them with Go energy when signing a new lease on the house. They where organised through the realestate agency.

I was charged peak rate the entire time. I have since changed energy providers and do not recommend using direct connect. I was lucky to not have opted for other services they offered.

Ummmmm? They don't even work with 'Go' energy and have no control over your rate variation.

That's your supplier. Get your facts straight.

Customer Service very bad

I have availed new connection from Direct Connect. After the new connection (Water and Electricity) has been organised at my new place, the hot water stopped coming. I called their Customer care for help. As, I was not sure if that is because of new connection or because of some technical settings that needs to be done, but I was HIGHLY disappointed by the way it has been addressed (Customer Representative was Bilinda, Time of conversation - 24/06 - 5:30 PM (Around). I have been told in that call that our responsibility/Duty is just to get the connections at the place we'll not be able to help with anything apart from that if the electricity and Water is working as expected. The way I have been addressed is really not healthy and against the quality standards. After that when I asked for e-Mail Address or Phone number to make my complaint I have not been provided the actual e-Mail ID. Its strange that how I have been addressed by their representative.

I've dropped them a mail still waiting for their response.

Its a time telling the people about the way they deal with their customers.

I used to work for a similar company - if electricity is required to heat the holt water service, and Direct Connect had successfully connected the electricity and water, then it sounds like a fault with the hot water cylinder itself - not direct connect. In that instance it's a fault for your agent or landlord to fix

Charged me for services I never signed up for

I got my local bill and suprise I have 3 extra charges on it, and I do not even have a computer with internet at home. I never signed up for services also got signed up with another company for movies that I never watch nor order.

So phone bill holders beware of scams out there that charge you for services you ghave never heard of or ordered. I am so tired of people charginbg me or calling me about things I have never signed up for.

There are aslo businesses out there that do what they can to sign you up , only to have misled you, one is Direct Connect.

Oh I called for creit at least once if not 2xs and it is showing up on my bill still, got a late charge also, which local phone company waived. You can get you phone account put in a certain stance so you won't get late charges until this is taken care of.
