Cant login or create an account. No support from this company . Attempting to make payment online or over phone is a *** joke so go ahead try to charge me 50.00 late payment fee Im not paying. Sue me I'm cancelling my policy. Although I've been an safe auto customer for 7 yrs now they go an switchme to this *** direct auto . Bad move safe auto .

I waited 65 minutes on hold to talk to a representative and when my turn came up the phone call hung up mysteriously. I called another number to talk to a rep this time I waited 20 minutes to the same outcome.

Direct Auto Insurance - Auto Insurance Gets Cancelled after 10+ years of being a customer
I renewed my auto insurance policy in March 2021. I normally renew annually, as doing so is easier on my budget. Suddenly, in December 2021, my auto insurance policy that I have had for over 10+ years gets cancelled. I call customer service, and they tell me that the local agent serving the policy did not submit the necessary paperwork for me to retain my status as a customer who pays annually, meaning that I would be placed on a monthly plan that included installment fees. I told them that my policy expires in March 2022 and should not have to pay a dime until them. They told me that the issue was out of their hands and I would have to make arrangements with the local agent to have the new paperwork be submitted to reinstate my policy. I then told them I should not have to do THEIR work to fix THEIR mistake, and then told them I wanted to just cancel the policy. They then told me that would have to pay the balance under the 'new' policy even though my policy was cancelled. I told them that I would contact the local service agent servicing my policy. I call the local service agent. The agent does not even know what I am talking about, as the agent does not have info regarding my current policy. The agent essentially tells me the same thing, that if I want to keep my policy, it will have to be on an installment plan, and that if I cancel the policy I will have to pay a balance of about $180. I contemplated taking Direct to court over breach of contract, but I figured it would be cheaper to pay these b4st4rds than the legal system, which I think is what these *** were counting on all along. Since I had procured insurance from a competitor at the time of the cancellation (I still needed to drive my car legally in spite of these bozos *** up my life) I joyfully and legally paid their "balance". I let the cancellation stand, telling them if $180 would change their lives for the better, so be it. Personally, I wouldn't p1ss on any of the leadership in this company if they were on fire (yes - I am quite bitter over this, but I'll get over it eventually)

They refuse to cover a water damage in a car insured with them

This is the worst Auto Insurance I ever experienced. They refused to see the reality of this water damage in this Mustang car and seems that they advised the auto body mechanic to turn a blind eye to the damage and say ''is no water damage'' when it is. after a month is still water in the passenger sit and matt area which I explained about it when I opened the claim and they took the claim except that they refuse to pay the damages so in order to take the car home I had to pay another mechanic's work like new battery, electric wires which they were all damaged by the water but they still insist is no water damage when it is. I asked to speak to their supervisor but he NEVER called me back after I left 3 messages. Is like we live in wild west, no responsibility, no accountability NONE but cover up. The worst it can be. BBB has over 730 complains against them but they don't seem to care. STAY AWAY ST

Deceptive practices

I have been insured for over 5o years with different insurance companies and everyone of them automatically renewed. Direct did not tell me the policy would not renew, They waited until the policy was expired for a month and then charged almost 400.00 dollars a year more because the policy had lapsed . I have no tickets or accidents and a perfect driving record.

They had incorrect information on my "driving record" that wasnt from dmv causing my down payment to be high and they did not want to fix it.

I got insurance from them on 2/14/2015 and was told that the reason my down payment and monthly payments were so high was because of SR-22. When I got the welcome letter it shows 2 violations (1 minor, and 1 for an accident both for 1/15/15). I haven't had a moving violation since 2012 and definitely not in Jan. 2015 because my license was suspended. I was told to go to DMV because that's where they receive the information. When i went to DMV they printed me out my record which did not show any violations since 2012. I took it back to the Direct and was told by the manager that this was a DMV issue. When i showed them the record from DMV, they called the underwriter department to see what can be done. They sent a copy of my record to that department which supposed to made the changes within 72 hours. This was on a Tuesday. By the following Monday, no changes were made and i was told that those tickets were not negatively affecting my rates. I then asked for a manager who told me she will send a message to that department to expedite the situation. One of the charges were remove but not both. I called back and they act like there was nothing that they can do about it. I cancelled my policy on that Thursday and that was the exact day the other charge was removed. I put $375 and was only refunded $142. I was told they ended up charging me by the day since i cancelled so early. I told them that i cancelled because I was being charged for violations that were not on my record and they said that there is nothing they can do about that.

DIRECT AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND FROM THEIR INSURED! THIS IS WORSE THAN BEING HIT BY A NON-INSURED DRIVER!!! February 19, 2015, 6 pm, Rolling Meadows. I was stopped at a red light on a major intersection. Algonquin and Golf. This *** rear-ends me and crushed my rear bumper. He failed to stop because he was driving on a torn rear tire, literally on the metal rim while sparks were coming out. Comes out and gives me an expired temporary insurance card and a state ID, NOT a driver's licence. He is 17!!! Says he was coming from school and was in a hurry to see his girlfriend and the new born!!!! Good thing I called the Rolling Meadows Police. When the officer came I gave him the documents the guy gave me and the Officer shaked his head saying that's not a DL. The kid then says oh here is my new insurance card, that one was the old card....Police Office issued him 3 violation tickets and arrested him and impounded his car. I called the insurance and the agent said I must call before 5pm. I called next morning and filed a claim with Direct Auto Insurance Company. The assured me the claim is filed and asked for my documents. They mailed me a form to fill out. On the form they stated that all accidents will be paid out based on the percentage of fault assigned to their insured. I mailed all documents and pictures and responded that in this case their insured has 100% fault for failing to stop at a red light and thus rear-ending a stopped vehicle. They took their sweet time to review. I kept calling them. EVENTUALLY, THE RUDE AND ILLITERATE AGENT ON THE PHONE, FATIMA, STATED THEY WILL NOT PAY THE CLAIM BECAUSE THEIR INSURED, JULIO GOMEZ, DID NOT REPORT THE ACCIDENT TO THEM WITHIN 30 DAYS, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT I REPORTED THAT TO THEM AND PROVIDED A POLICE REPORT. The most ridiculous denial. I made the insured go to their office to give them whatever statement they need. They took written statement from him of the accident and still said the claim is denied! They never sent me denial in the mail, nothing written! The insured then says, since his insurance does not want to pay then he will not pay either. That seems to be a very convenient loop hole. Hit others, cause accidents and damages, don't report to your insurance and you never have to pay a dime for being reckless and irresponsible on the road. DIRECT AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY IS A SCAM, THAT HAS FOUND A WAY TO MAKE MONEY BY ISSUING USELESS INSURANCE CARDS FOR POLICIES THAT COVER 0 DAMAGES, AND THUS THEY PAY $0 ON CLAIMS! ILLINOIS STATE NEEDS TO SHUT THEM DOWN AND ADD PROVISION IN THE REGULATIONS TO MAKE THE DENIAL BASED ON THE BEFORE MENTIONED REASON UNLAWFUL.

Totaled car full coverage denied claim

I don't understand how this could happen, by law we have to carry auto insurance. This is so unacceptable, the stress that has been created by this insurance company has been worse than the stress of the accident. I have full coverage insurance with direct auto. My vehicle was totaled due to icy conditions. No other vehicle was involved and my car was totaled. It took direct auto over 30 days to reply to my claim and when they did they denied my claim stating that I had undisclosed drivers and vehicles in my household. The only other person who lives with me is my son who doesn’t even drive yet who just turned 15. Now I have to fight with them to get my insurance claim. I think they just deny people and make them so frustrated they give up. The most horrible company I have ever had to deal with.
